Great game to watch. Way too many penalties for both teams. Neither offense could get in rhythym. Good job Pirates on no turnovers. Great sportsmanship after the game from these 2 teams. Lumberton came over to the Vidor team after they shook hands and talked with their coach. Both teams knelt together and said a prayer. Well done Raiders. Good luck from here on out.

Those Central running backs will love that wet sloppy field. They were running like wild greased pigs last friday night. They run hard and don't quit. Wet and sloppy field will only make it harder to tackle them. Good luck to both teams.

I have a kid playing in STJFL for Vidor and I coach there so I am around a lot of parents during the week. There have been several parents talking this week about the sportsmanship from friday night. I have a lot of respect for Central especially since Coach Stowers came to town and the Central players and coaches actions from Friday night have earned them A LOT more repsect from people in Vidor. You guys have a lot of new fans over here. My father in law was a ref when Stowers first took over at Central and he did a couple of their games that year. He told me those kids and Stowers were very classy and respectful to the refs and other teams.

WOW! What a game! Both teams were winners. Keep fighting Pirates. Those Central rb's have no quit in them. Nothing but class from Central players, coaches, and fans. I have always respected Central but now I have a lot more. Good luck the rest of the way. GO PIRATES!

Hey weasel, WOS beat Vidor Black flag 14-6. WOS is a very talented and physical team. Better eat your Wheaties if you have to play 'em!!!! They're GOOD.
QueenB, I've been to almost all of the Vidor games and I think you got some bad info. IF the people in Vidor have been told not to cheer then they aren't following orders very well.
-
Ok. Thanks!
-
Raider 88, are you talking about STJFL or Lonestar? In STJFL Vidor Black Flag beat Nederland White 19-12. Just curious which organization you're talking about.

PRACTICE, we talkin' bout PRACTICE!!!!!
-
Vidor fans are not saying a good scrimmage translates into a district championship. We are just excited about our team. I don't see any harm in that. But, like Piratefan, I am curious as to why 18 pages of Vidor/WOS is ridiculous and 18 pages of WOS/Dayton is okay.
-
Well said Gasilla! I think WOS is definitely one THE premier programs in SE Texas and no one can argue that. I don't think you can win or lose a scrimmage but only hope to stay healthy and execute what you have been working on in practice and maybe find something to fix that didn't work very well.
It's very funny how WOS, who many think may be a state title team, gets reduced to some random 3A team just because Vidor has some success against them. Hoopinsider, don't reserve that front page just yet but there is no harm in people from Vidor getting excited about doing well against WOS in a scrimmage. Take it as a compliment. If we did well against some 8th grade team and got excited that would be different. However, if it was "just a scrimmage" or practice then why are people coming up with reasons why WOS didn't dominate (we didn't prepare for them, we had several players injured, Vidor runs the Wing T instead of just running the ball). Scrimmage or not, the goal is and always will be to outperform the team your playing against. I bet this scrimmage isn't on either teams record at the end of the season

Great job BC! Vidor is proud of you! My 6 year old was screamin' and hollerin' at the TV for you guys.
BIG CONGRATS!!!!

I want to congratulate TC on a very well played tournament. You guys represent your association with a lot of class. Nothing to hang your heads about. It was fun watching you guys and girl play. That is a great group of young men and young lady on that team and they followed the lead from a great group of coaches from TC. Keep playing hard!
And to the Vidor All Stars, WAY TO GO GUYS! You young men are an amazing group and it has been a blast to work with you. Lets keep working hard, have fun and and keep it rolling in Dallas.
I also want to send a big thank you to Toby, Ashley, Jason, Kevin (all 3 of you), Clint, Byron, Scooter, Trey, Blake and the wonderful ladies in the concession stand. Couldn't have done it without you. Thanks! LD

Hal or Clint, do either of you have the bracket? If so, could you send it to me? Thanks in advance.

Congrats to the Angels and Astros. Both played very well through the tournament. Coach Toby and Coach Jason both did a great job and the kids played great. Too many people to list, but a BIG thanks to everyone that helped out during the tournament and with the fields. We couldn't have pulled it off without you guys. Thanks a million.

This tournament has been a blast to watch! Groves, TC, Orange, and Vidor all have some great ballplayers and it is awesome to watch these 5 and 6 year old kids play at the high level that they do. Congrats to the the final four teams! Great job Vidor Shetland, 3 out of the final 4, finish strong!
-
Thanks for noticing the field MJB. I totally agree with you on that fan. I was in the stands keeping score, I and several other Vidor coaches could not believe that happened. Anyway, good job on getting that win!

Way to go Vidor Pinto teams! We are proud of you guys. That is a great group of kids and a great group of coaches.

It gets even better! Coach Gilligan has already offered scholarships to 2 of the Cubs! Coach Hal is THE MAN!
-
I heard that Hal has had his Cubs at Lamar working out with Coach Gilligan and his staff!
-
That kid is a MONSTER! He catches everything that comes his way and has a great stick as well.

Vidor vs. Ozen Predictions?

I don't think this Pirate team will get cocky but they will be confident. If Vidor puts a complete game together it could be a really good night for them. Gotta respect the Ozen speed. Coach Matthews will have them ready to play. Anyone from Vidor have an update on Johnson #49?
