  1. I have a kid playing in STJFL for Vidor and I coach there so I am around a lot of parents during the week. There have been several parents talking this week about the sportsmanship from friday night. I have a lot of respect for Central especially since Coach Stowers came to town and the Central players and coaches actions from Friday night have earned them A LOT more repsect from people in Vidor. You guys have a lot of new fans over here. My father in law was a ref when Stowers first took over at Central and he did a couple of their games that year. He told me those kids and Stowers were very classy and respectful to the refs and other teams.

  2. Hey weasel, WOS beat Vidor Black flag 14-6. WOS is a very talented and physical team. Better eat your Wheaties if you have to play 'em!!!! They're GOOD.

QueenB, I've been to almost all of the Vidor games and I think you got some bad info. IF the people in Vidor have been told not to cheer then they aren't following orders very well.

  3. Well said Gasilla! I think WOS is definitely one THE premier programs in SE Texas and no one can argue that.  I don't think you can win or lose a scrimmage but only hope to stay healthy and execute what you have been working on in practice and maybe find something to fix that didn't work very well.

It's very funny how WOS, who many think may be a state title team, gets reduced to some random 3A team just because Vidor has some success against them. Hoopinsider, don't reserve that front page just yet but there is no harm in people from Vidor getting excited about doing well against WOS in a scrimmage. Take it as a compliment. If we did well against some 8th grade team and got excited that would be different. However, if it was "just a scrimmage" or practice then why are people coming up with reasons why WOS didn't dominate (we didn't prepare for them, we had several players injured, Vidor runs the Wing T instead of just running the ball). Scrimmage or not, the goal is and always will be to outperform the team your playing against. I bet this scrimmage isn't on either teams record at the end of the season

  4. I want to congratulate TC on a very well played tournament. You guys represent your association with a lot of class. Nothing to hang your heads about. It was fun watching you guys and girl play. That is a great group of young men and young lady on that team and they followed the lead from a great group of coaches from TC. Keep playing hard!

And to the Vidor All Stars, WAY TO GO GUYS! You young men are an amazing group and it has been a blast to work with you. Lets keep working hard, have fun and and keep it rolling in Dallas.

I also want to send a big thank you to Toby, Ashley, Jason, Kevin (all 3 of you), Clint, Byron, Scooter, Trey, Blake and the wonderful ladies in the concession stand. Couldn't have done it without you. Thanks! LD

  5. Congrats to the Angels and Astros. Both played very well through the tournament. Coach Toby and Coach Jason both did a great job and the kids played great. Too many people to list, but a BIG thanks to everyone that helped out during the tournament and with the fields. We couldn't have pulled it off without you guys. Thanks a million.
