I'd like to be the first in our district to send congrats to Burkeville. Their defense has much improved from last year & it was a great defensive game tonight. Each team gave up a couple of turn overs, but West Hardin was able to move the ball quite well. I know the score doesn't reflect it, like I said it was a great defensive game. Here's the run down: 1st quarter West Hardin - 0 --- WH was down to the Burkeville 10 at the buzzer Burkeville - 0 2nd quarter West Hardin - 6 --- WH scored at 11:11 by an Ancisco TD run, extra point was blocked Burkeville - 0 3rd quarter West Hardin - 6 --- Lots of back and forth in the 3rd Burkeville - 0 4th quarter West Hardin - 12 --- Miller passed to Caruthers for a 55 yd TD, went for 2 points & incomplete pass Burkeville - 0 Here is something new I'm adding this week, GRADES: Defense - A+ --- Did an outstanding job at swarming to the ball & wrapping up the ball carriers, should have had 2 interceptions but at least they were knocked down Offense - B- --- Did score twice, but had some terrible turn overs from trying to do too much Special Teams - B+ --- Punting and kickoff coverage was great, but punt returning was less than desirable Coaching - A+ --- Game management was superb tonight, great mixture of play calling on both sides of the ball I can hear it know though, if I graded them so high why wasn't the score more??? After others get to play Burkeville, I'd love to hear your honest comments on their defensive improvements from last year. Congrats to the Oilers players, coaches & fans that went to the game! 1-0 in district play

H-D has lost two games this year. We lost to Hardin a playoff 2A football team and to Tenaha a playoff 1A team ranked #9 in State. In both games H-D hung in there, at one point in the Hardin game H-D was down 21-17 then Tim Taylor and Keith Gilmore got hurt and the game busted open. The Tenaha score was 15-0 at the half, H-D making big mistakes and playing without Keith Gilmore and Tim Taylor, two of our best players. H-D will be totally healthy and well rested after having two weeks to prepare for the Lions. H-D is ready and prepared to win District, also H-D is ready to beat the bigger school Kountze this friday. Since Evadale already beat Kountze, we should be able to guage how good H-D and Evadale are compared to each other. H-D 32 Kountze 12 LOL, repeating yourself doesn't make us believe you anymore. It's nice to see someone from HD that's not living on cloud 9, HDcats0422 you should be commended for at least being honest. 55's life revolves around 50 year old stats and secrecy, come on back to reality there buddy. Well if it wasn't for the fact that NW had to try to play all those JV kids they brought it wouldn't have been a problem. But West Hardin Decided not to play NW subvarsity teams at the last minute and went down the road to HULL instead. I guess you never saw all of those cheap shots that the WH kids threw play after play, and I guess that shows great discipline I guess. How many ejections did you have? As for you EC, who cares what you think. You are still sore from basketball. Maybe one day EC will get over that hump and make it to Austin. Takes discipline todo that. Dude, your crazy. It was the NW varsity that was causing the problems with penalties, not your JV. As far as our JV, their game got cancelled all together. We had one ejection, he deserved it too for dropping to NW's level. As far as the so called late hits your refering to by WH, I didn't see any yellow laundry on the field against us for it. Your team won, good for ya'll, but keep causing those penalties and then enjoy the playoffs from home!

Since I live in LaPorte, it takes me a little while to get home from any game. So have patience Grasshopper!!! Congrats to the Bulldogs. They are a very big and fast team, they had a few kids that could easily play on Saturdays. It was unreal to me though at how undisclined of a team New Waverly was. I lost count after a while, but I know they had at least 30+ penalties tonight. They looked like the Oakland Raiders of high school football. They had 5 penalties in a row on 1 series & 6 in a row on another, usually holding or false starts. If they can get their act together on stupid stuff, they will be a big force to deal with in 2A football. As far as my Oilers, they were way over matched this week. We had a few good plays, but nothing that really mattered. We just couldn't get into a rhythm at all. We got a bye week coming up and that will allow our boys time to rest up before district starts. At least it didn't rain!!!

Thanks, he understands the dangers involved of coming back too soon. If all goes well he'll either be back for Sabine Pass or Evadale game.

#51 John Harrington has 3 fractured ribs and he is out from 4-6 weeks. We need him its a big loss to our defensive and offensive line. If it was up to him, he'd be on the field this Friday. Hopefully, in a few weeks he'll get another X-ray and everything will be good to go.

I'm going with the optimistic outlook on this game!!! If we hold up to New Waverly, then 23-1A better watch out. I believe the first 2 games were good preparation for this game, because it will be the toughest test West Hardin will have this year. Evadale is the team to beat right now, their the defending district champs, so like DWade said, hopefully we'll get something good out of this game. Good Luck Oilers, I'll see you at the game!!!
