  1. coming off a minor setback tuesday, the cougars KRANK IT UP once again and roll over kountze!!!
  2. a good number of athletes from hemphill have been noticed on the 2A level: Ben Wilkerson = LSU - All American - National Championship= Remington Award as nation's top lineman Keldrick Holman - SFA - All American DB Blake Martin - Sam Houston All American TE Larron Singleton, Scott Morgan, Ed Henson - SFA Willis Washington - Trinity Valley - Central Oklahoma Leon Maxie - Trinity Valley John Kyle Smith - 2A dwfwnsive player of the year - Louisiana College John Wright - Louisiana College Numerous baseball scholarships also - Adam Wright, Chad Ford, Matt Hamilton Basketball - Josh Twine if talented enough, the scouts or whomever will find you no mater what level. also, i don't believe newton avoided ec in 06 or 07. as i recall, hemphill gave ec all they wanted and then some in their bidistrict game in 06. and they were the third place district rep that season. the old 'if' come into play here. if the hornets had not fumbled going in for 1 touchdown and a questionable offensive interference call at the end of the game, i'm sure they would have played a much better game against mart the following week. but give ec credit, they won a hard fought contest.
  3. why all he 'hate' against 2A football? seems to me some teams might want to drop in classification to win a state championship, or at least the opportunity to play for one.
  4. good win for ec b ut the cougars are still in the driver's seat and will bounce back in a big way.
  5. not taking anything away from the victory by shelbyville, but what happened to kirbyville in this one? got caught looking too far ahead or what? better take care of business first or there won't be that long awaited rematch with buna i've been hearing so much about!
  6. So San Augustine has lower enrollment numbers than Hemphill? Talk about salivating---SA would devour this line-up.
  7. It's all going to be played out in the enxt few weeks. Am thinking Buna is putting it all together and will continue their march deep into the playoffs....ending with a possible state championship in the not too distant future. The Cougars learned a good deal about themselves with a hard fought victory over Hemphill last year in the Regional Finals. YEAH YEAH, I know---last year is last year. A never say die attitude goes a long way whatever year it is. A winning tradition is hard to beat.
  8. Am thinking k'ville here also. More than likely Woodville, Kirbyville, and Hemphill headed to the playoffs, but watch out for Shelbyville to have their say in this district before all is said and done. Has someome posted the most recent standings?
  9. Far be it for our state legislators to listen to those in the trenches each and every day. Is this all about making more $$$$$$$?
  10. Nothing wrong with making moves that better ones position in this or any other profession. Good Luck to the person selected to lead.
  11. Bad decision if they allow these schools in...as seen before in numerous charter schools, not many are able to adhere to the guidelines set forth by the UIL. Before being corrected, I know TAPPS does not equal charter schools. Will recruiting still be allowed, or has that not taken place in a while?
  12. When making the statement concerning why individuals think hiring someone from a larger classification school is the better hire, I was making a generalized comment. I am well aware Gonzales is a 3A school. But just in case I didn't, thanks for informing me.
  13. They have good quality people right in their own backyard. They already know the community and the kids they will be working with. Why not give one of these men this opportunity. It always amazes me that some people believe bringing someone in from a larger classification school is the 'best' solution. I am sure the men being conisdered are quality people and leaders also. This is nothing against them. I wish whomever the best. Just my 2 cents.
  14. I agree with you--u-da-man!!! What's the hold-up? By the way, am heading to the land of the Forest Green Hemp this afternoon.
  15. There will be vast improvement for aTm this season due to their schedule. Am looking for at least 9 wins and everyone thinking all is great once again in Aggieland. I don't think y'all have the 'right' man in charge though.
  16. One game at a time....Cougars take this one. Make it a quick game because I can't miss Friday Night Lights.
  17. Don't get too wrapped up in the rankings dont let 5 losses by Buna fool you....it's where you finish that counts. The sticks are alive and well!!! Did i age myself by saying "sticks"?
  18. be careful what you wish for....or what you are looking forward to...another cougar victory!!!
  19. Why would Coach Alvarez get criticized for his kids playing well---he DID NOT run up the score...Dive R & L, QB sneaks, FG attempt on 2nd down... the Hornets were just outmatched, but I did see some positives from the Hemphill kids...#3 ran hard all night---#11 stood in and made some good throws under extreme pressure...#s 42 and 34 had some quality receptions... Hold your heads up HIGH Hornets and keep working hard....
  20. congrats to Kirbyville--don't see anyone slowing them down any time soon...The Hornets had several opportunites to score in the game but the 'cat defense stepped up when asked to...
  21. I wonder who made the decision to have K'ville for Woodville's Homecoming...what were they thinking...gonna be a longgggggggggggggggggggggg night for the Eagles...only thing they'll have to look forward to is finger foods at the dance...
  22. Problem is, she'd want all the games to be played in uhLaaaaaaaaaaaaaaSSSSSSKAkuh... is that voice annoying or what?
  23. I thought Kountze was the Pre-District favorite entering this season---good thing the games are played on the field and not in magazines---2 tough district losses with 4 games left--gonna be difficult, but not impossible for the Lions to make the playoffs. Did grades get them or what?
  24. well it's time for Gov. Palin to put Joe Six pack to rest--who knows, in another 4 years she may have another drinkin buddy---HARVEY WALLBANGER!!! and tse-tschese-staeste, the ring is getting tighter--or is that a noose--lol--darn honey do list grows longer each day--she keeps this up, i'll gladly end this retirement and get back to work--lmao dang difficult name to type--lol
  25. "Say it ain't so Joe"
