  1. I'm thinking the Cougars want to fly under the radar for a bit longer this season, but it won't be easy for them to do after another big win this coming Friday night in Buna. This team could surprise a good number of district opponents down the road. Buna 32 Orangefield 20
  2. after friday--i meant before friday--NEWTON by as many as coach wants...the newton team will be a force to be reckoned with---am thinking they improve each and every week...
  3. Good post...but everyone knows that Joe Blow will be lining the fence Friday night telling everyone within earshot that when he coached those boys in little league they made it to state and don't know why these coaches can't win with them.
  4. this one won't even be close unless they are playing at corrigan--where anything and everything can happen--like sprinklers coming on during play--or lights going off--or the notoriuos dog on the field now and again--lol
  5. gonna take buna in this one also. 24 -12 sounds about right to me.
  6. Don't think i'd get too excited by "beating" a couple of 2A teams. No disrespect, but I'm not sure how well those teams you named are expected to do in their own districts. There are a number of things that can derail a team, especially a small school, along the way---injuries and grades being 2 biggies. Not to mention the "BIG HEAD". Don't get too overconfident. Good Luck to all of ya'll this season.
  7. ANy word on how this one went? Did the ref's ever show up?
  8. good luck against SA..am thinking ya'll r gonna put a pretty good whippin on them...
  9. The Angleton Wildcats will be playing in a new 11 million dollar facility this season/ I hear it is beyond belief.
  10. hey 'x' - how's it going in roughrider country--couldn't make it to the scrimmage--darn honey do list wasn't complete for the day
  11. Hemphill has 1 of the best small school athletic facilities (fb stadium and track) around. At the moment, a new gymnasium - field house - weight room - etc., are being constructed. The softball diamond was finished 3 years ago and a new baseball field is going up as well.
  12. buna 1st Team "O" scored once and Hemphill 2nd "O" scored once buna did intercept a pass that would have been returned for a score overall good scrimmage for both teams-- saw vast improvement by the hornets
  13. figured hemphill must have won when i didnt see the score on any of the beaumont tv sports segments-- good luck hornets and coach harmon
  14. coming off a minor setback tuesday, the cougars KRANK IT UP once again and roll over kountze!!!
  15. a good number of athletes from hemphill have been noticed on the 2A level: Ben Wilkerson = LSU - All American - National Championship= Remington Award as nation's top lineman Keldrick Holman - SFA - All American DB Blake Martin - Sam Houston All American TE Larron Singleton, Scott Morgan, Ed Henson - SFA Willis Washington - Trinity Valley - Central Oklahoma Leon Maxie - Trinity Valley John Kyle Smith - 2A dwfwnsive player of the year - Louisiana College John Wright - Louisiana College Numerous baseball scholarships also - Adam Wright, Chad Ford, Matt Hamilton Basketball - Josh Twine if talented enough, the scouts or whomever will find you no mater what level. also, i don't believe newton avoided ec in 06 or 07. as i recall, hemphill gave ec all they wanted and then some in their bidistrict game in 06. and they were the third place district rep that season. the old 'if' come into play here. if the hornets had not fumbled going in for 1 touchdown and a questionable offensive interference call at the end of the game, i'm sure they would have played a much better game against mart the following week. but give ec credit, they won a hard fought contest.
  16. why all he 'hate' against 2A football? seems to me some teams might want to drop in classification to win a state championship, or at least the opportunity to play for one.
  17. good win for ec b ut the cougars are still in the driver's seat and will bounce back in a big way.
  18. not taking anything away from the victory by shelbyville, but what happened to kirbyville in this one? got caught looking too far ahead or what? better take care of business first or there won't be that long awaited rematch with buna i've been hearing so much about!
  19. So San Augustine has lower enrollment numbers than Hemphill? Talk about salivating---SA would devour this line-up.
  20. It's all going to be played out in the enxt few weeks. Am thinking Buna is putting it all together and will continue their march deep into the playoffs....ending with a possible state championship in the not too distant future. The Cougars learned a good deal about themselves with a hard fought victory over Hemphill last year in the Regional Finals. YEAH YEAH, I know---last year is last year. A never say die attitude goes a long way whatever year it is. A winning tradition is hard to beat.
  21. Am thinking k'ville here also. More than likely Woodville, Kirbyville, and Hemphill headed to the playoffs, but watch out for Shelbyville to have their say in this district before all is said and done. Has someome posted the most recent standings?
  22. Far be it for our state legislators to listen to those in the trenches each and every day. Is this all about making more $$$$$$$?
