  1. I have watched the 2 Vidor games, and it is hard to tell how strong/weak the opponents were. I am not saying that Vidor is unstoppable and has no weaknesses--they do. However, if I had to bet, I would actually guess that Vidor will put up 500 yards of offense against at least one 20-4A opponent. I don't know who it will be or when it will be. But when you have 7 chances, Vidor's offense will get rolling big at least once. When it is working, the offense is designed to really churn up the yards. When it breaks, it looks horrible. I have never seen Vidor run it so well (against anybody). This is all just my opinion.
  2. this was a good game... It would have been a much better game had we scored on the last drive... Thanks for the props Cherokee. It was a hard battle. Despite the difficult weather, and the very close back and forth battle, I thought both sides carried themselves well both while we were up and down. And just in case anyone noticed me slipping out with 15 seconds left, I was already 30 minutes late to an important engagement. I tried to do it quietly and I am sad that I did not get to congratulate the Indian players and coaches and talk to our boys after the game. Congrats to PNG Purple!!!!!!!
  3. Ex-C...I have found out more info through the week on both of my "really tough to pick games". I think they may get me. I really have not seen Kountze so I do not know. However, I hear that Ned Black is very big and lots of returners. It looks like Division 2 is going to be very very strong. Not a good deal to be there I guess. The teams that come out of Division 2 should definitely be playoff ready. I will predict now that the SuperBowl Champ will come out of Division 2. Good Luck to All Teams Saturday.
  4. I predicted Vidor Black earlier this afternoon, and now I have to stick with my pick regardless of what happens for the rest of the week.
  5. I am not coming here to trash any coach or kid or team. I just think it is kinda fun to try to predict some of these outcomes. Last week I went 7-1. Not bad, if I do say so myself. LUM - WHITE over OF NED - WHITE over BMT - GOLD BMT - BLUE over NED - GOLD VIDOR - WHITE over PNG - PURPLE LUM - RED over LCM WOS - BLUE over PNG - GREY Really tough to predict: KOUNTZE over NED - BLACK VIDOR - BLACK over PNG - WHITE Game of the Week: WOS - WHITE over BC Now, it goes without saying that any team could beat any other team any week. These predicitions are not meant to provide bad feelings or Bulletin Board material. Just us old farts having a little fun.
  6. We didn't want the score to be like that either and you're right it is difficult for both sides. We put alot of different kids in and some that will never carry the ball again. I wish I knew how many different kids scored. We did not run up the score. Yes it was miserably hot out there. I understand and hope that you understand that was exactly what I meant in my original post. But from my experience on both ends of the stick, it is still better to be on the winning end. ;D
  7. Congrats to all the boys who played their heart out on Saturday in the Heat!!!!! And congrats to the LUM-White team that busted my perfect Guru picks for the week. I think I went 8-1 for the week which is not bad considering I had only seen 2 of the 18 teams practice, and most of my picks were off message board info. ;D I learned one valuable lesson this week. Sometimes, New Indian talks the big talk, and his team does not always walk the walk.
  8. The last Jr game is Lum Red against PNG Grey...surely someone knows the score on that one.
  9. Amen to that Bmt hosted a great day to start it all off. I know it takes a ton of work. The kids loved playing on a High School Stadium.
  10. I hate to hear scores like that in little league sports. It is a difficult situation for everyone involved, but I feel bad for the Young Indians. And as to the heat, it is WAY too hot out there. But very few leagues can afford to have games at night with the lighting and electricity that is neccesary. I hope it cools down soon, but next weekend looks just as hot as this weekend.
  11. Jr Vidor White vs Bmt Blue....Vidor won 20-12, but it was closer than that. Vidor scored on the last play of the game and coverted the XP. Both teams fought very hard and it was as hot as hell best I can figure. Bmt lost their QB for much of the 2nd half as well. Game tied 6-6 at half. Watch out for Bmt Blue as the season goes on. And hopefully Vidor White gets rolling. Jr Vidor Black vs Bmt Gold was not near as close. I think it may have been about 40-6. Vidor Black looked very good on both sides of the ball.
  12. I agree that there are no winners or losers in scrimmages. And I am sure that WOS will be very good again this year regardless of last night. But for all of us Pirate Fans that remember how long it has been since Vidor won district (1978), you can literally just feel the hopes of the Fan Base starting to grow. I appreciate how many out-of-towners seem to be genuinely wishing us the best (unless we are playing you). It has been a long time, and for my kids sake, I hope this is the year. I have too "future" Friday night Pirates that could use a little hope that Vidor can win in football. Good Luck to all the local teams this year.
  13. Ok, I will play. I mean no disrespect to any teams and I am sure that I will be right. Also, I have heard nothing about lots of these teams and I am just guessing on others based on last year's standings. I am only picking the Jr STJFL division for week 1: WOS-blue over KOUNTZE WOS-white over PNG-purple NED-white over OF VIDOR-white over BMT-blue (probably a homer pick) VIDOR-black over BMT-gold (see above) both Bmt teams will improve this year. PNG-white over LUM-white NED-black over LCM BC over NED-white LUM-red over PNG-grey I look forward to everyone criticizing my picks.
  14. I wish I could have been there as well. I am so glad that the Pirates have looked good in scrimmages after all of this extra hype. Hopefully, we will be able to keep it going next week at Kelly. I understand that Kelly has much fewer kids in the program this year than in years' past. I hope next week's game is good district prep for both teams..... And I want to hear more reports from everyone that was there.
  15. Congrats to the Vidor boys and coaches on a great performance. I wish that I could have caught some of the games.
  16. Ghost, Great job in working with the boys year after year. You (and many others there) are doing it right. The fields are in better shape. The boys are well coached and have great attitudes. You (and others) make it easy for for me to cheer and root for PA anytime they play (unless it is against our Pirates). See you next year.....Keep it Up.
  17. Lazeek, I missed you out there tonight...got there late. Congrats to both TC and Vidor on advancing to Final Four. If Vidor hits like they did tonight, they could give TC a battle. Kudos to PA on hosting another 1st class tourney.
  18. I thought Twin County would win, but 12-1 in the 3rd is a Nice Statement for Twin County to open up with. Congrats to Twin County and the boys.
  19. I heard it was a close match-up. Both teams probably felt like they did not play their very best. Who else saw it first-hand. More reports, please.
  20. I predict Port Arthur, Orange, TC and Vidor in the Final Four (Sorry Groves and Vidor 2). I think that Vidor is working with a special group of kids at just the right time. They will be almost impossible to beat twice, no matter the luck. However, that is why they play the game. The team that is most intriguing is Port Arthur. I think their hitting may be best overall in the tournament. I just don't know if their defense will be able to stop the solid bats from every team. Everyone is counting on Terry bringing a great team (remember Shetland two years ago, they could have won it). Everyone knows how good TC will be from last year (both Shetland and Pinto). Port Arthur is the up and coming team. I saw some huge bats on the two teams that played in the Director's Tourney. Just my 2 cents
  21. I hate that I missed all the fun. Congrats to Jason, Toby, Larry, and Kevin and most of all, every boy on the team. The State tournament is an awesome experience. I wish you the best of luck in your draw (it matters) and know that you will make the experience the very best for the boys. And I hate to be a homer, but I sure hope that Lance, Neal, Jeremy and Jon and company are able to make the trip with you. It should be great fun for everyone involved.
  22. Lazeek, I think there is another Vidor team that is looking to be on the field on Thursday night.
  23. Vidor #1 won another tournament this weekend at Ford Park. Last weekend they took the Jasper LL invitational. Even though they have gotten the best of Orange, I think Orange is still coming with the goal of winning it. It sounds like PA is strong (and I believe it watching the 2 teams in the Dir tourney). I have seen how strong TC is firsthand. And don't forget about Vidor #2. They have some awesome players as well. This should be a tournament chuck full of great teams.
  24. I heard that Vidor beat Orange in the 2nd game. And Orange beat Twin County in the 3rd game. But I did not hear scores of either. Big showdown between Vidor 1 and Twin County 1 tommorow. Good Luck to Everyone.
  25. This thread is never going to make 12 pages at this rate. Last year's thread was much more exciting. Seriously, I am out of town and hoping to get updates here. Please post scores as everyone knows them.
