Are you saying they had no competition for the job?
Yes, that's exactly what i'm saying. And if there was any competition, it couldn't even beat him out, hence the NO competition comment.
You rag on Johnson and say that he didn't want to compete.  Then turn around and imply that Bevil had the job handed to him.  Then to make sure you cover all of your bases you say for Bevil to WIN the job there must not have been any competition (talent) on the team.  From the people I know all of the talk last summer was about the kid from West Texas A&M being the guy to beat out for the job.  So your statement about Bevil being handed the QB job at Lamar is not true.  For you and all of the others that are on Bevil's case EVERY QB has bad games.  Last year Super Bowl MVP had 3 ints last week and 2 in the loss to Atlanta.
hey texan where are the comments about ur boy bevil being so good at? why aren't you coming to his defense now? lol ur funny!
Never said Bevil was my "BOY". I just didn't want to let a stupid statement go unchecked.  And the statement about Bevil being handed the job was stupid. Here's your sign.  Now I'm REALLY Funny!!
and are you seriously comparing the play of a superbowl mvp to that of bevil? lol see, you are funny, i could read your stuff in the comic section! lol.
There you go still cant read.  NEVER compared just said that even the BEST have bad games.  If your still having problems with comprehension I can draw you a picture since the funnies are what you understand.

 5. I'm going to give Lamar the WIN!  Mostly because I'm a Homer. But also Nicholls was able to get to USA with the big play.  Caston for Nicholls threw for over 300 yards against USA.  His second highest this season was 124 yards against Western Michigan.  Nicholls has scoring pass plays of 95 and 47 yards. If there is one thing we know Lamar can do it throw it DEEP. 21 to 17 LU

Unless you were taking Brian Bell or Tyrik Rollison, do not think anything else would resonate with the Bearkat faithful. Sounds like typical Lamar over-hype job here.
Bearkat faithful?  All 10 of them?
Sorry Coach but you miscounted.  The two guys in the orange jumpers were not fans.  They were shackled to two DOC guys and forced to go.  They were told it would help them at the parole board hearing.    ;D
 7.
Let's all take a deep breath.  Programs greater than this one have lost by scores like this and have done okay from that point.  Several years ago the almighty Texas Longhorns got rolled up by UCLA 66-3.  Just a few years ago, Nebraska rolls into Lubbock and gets trounced by Texas Tech 70-15.  The Aggies lost to OU 77-0.  These things happen.  It sucks when they happen to you.  But you buckle up your chinstrap on Monday and hit somebody in practice and get ready for the next game. The SFA game is old news.  I'm not going to discuss it anymore.  Let's have some good practices and come out firing against Prison U.  GO BIG RED!!
How DARE YOU post facts.  :D Can't you see the sky is falling.  ;D
 8.
How does this effect recruiting?  Or will it?
I'm sure that is why SFA didn't quit running the "No Huddle" offense until late in the 3rd quarter.  They were trying to make sure they keep the SETX Pipeline of players open.
 9. I don't think this team quit.  They just go wore out. I think SFA had a very good game plan.  You have a team that is not very deep or experienced. So what do you do, you run them like dogs.  You make a young team make decisions on the go and hope for mistakes.  And it worked to perfection.  Lamar's inability to hold on to the ball in the FIRST quarter (FOUR TO) only helped to speed up the process.
 10. I thought this post was about PRINCE!! (Bummer)  ;D
 11.

Exactly like they did when they dropped the football program playing I-AA/FCS. Community support will once again dry up if LU continue to bring in "who are you" schools. That is a fact backed up by Lamars own history.
I am tired of seeing this generalized misstatement.  Lets look at some real facts for demise of football at Lamar.  From 1975 to the final game in 1989 Lamar was 38 - 90 - 3 that is an awful record. Plus in '86 and '87 they had their two wordt defensive teams in school history.  Giving up 339 and 389 points in those seasons.  And in this area if you don't win the people don't show.  Just ask the Beaumont Golden Gator, Bullfrogs, Wildcatters, and Drillers. The real death blow for Lamar football was the school moving to a "Basketball" conference where football was not played.  Then Lamar had to play as an independent and could only get FOUR home games the last two seasons.  So the demise of Lamar was from over a decade of BAD football and the university thinking BIG.  They had the BIG DREAM of Lamar being a basketball powerhouse and gave no thought of what it would do to football. So please quit saying that FCS is what killed Lamar football.
 12.
Only he didn't say anything about all those other sports just football...and you guys think Sam fans are the only ones who have something to say about the hoity toity way Yall have come into this football season like you're gonna kill everyone and should be expecting your fbs invite any day now... ;D
Not everyone JUST SHSU.  8)
 13.
You don't see UTSA fans trying to stomp out UTSA growth... So who replaces UTSA and Texas st in the SLC?    I think Tarleton st and Kingsville.
Trying to compare San Antonio to Beaumont is insane. San Antonio population 1,200,000 JEFFERSON COUNTY 252,051.  ONLY a MILLION people separate us from them.  That is like comparing apples to kumquats, you cant be serious.  I would like to sere Lamar move to FBS also but the WAC makes no sense. If it was so great North Texas would be all over it.  But as it has been posted on here UNT wants no part of the WAC and its travel distances.  [glow=red,2,300]Two other schools that were confirmed by these same sources that have been prominently mentioned to be very high on the WAC's list, are Montana and Montana State. [/glow] Montana, Montana St., Texas St., and UTSA that sounds like a nice FCS division.  :o Montana & Montana ST are 1780 and 1980 miles away from Beaumont.  Adding even more to the travel expenses. I think Whitney Houston said it best " The WAC is CRACK!" or something like that.  ;D
 14.

The program is legitimate, but the 6 pm start time has got to end...at least until November games arrive.  Also, relax with all the tailgating rules.  Let the ones who support the program have some fun.
alot of colleges kick off at 6 ???  guess so you get home before midnight.  Its SE Texas...suck it up.
YEAH!!
 15. After all of the BIG hits at the McNeese game, or home field should be nicknamed BOOM!! town.  Then after a big hit the PA announcer would say Welcome to ___ and the fans would finish  BOOMTOWN!!!
 16.
Lets just make sure we support this program through what is probably going to be a tough couple of years.
I know its fun to pay WHAT IF.  I do it every time I buy a lottery ticket.  You should see all of things I'm going to do and buy.  Oh and the speech I have written for my boss.  :o  But my boss will never hear the speech until AFTER I cash the ticket.  My point is this. We as fans of Lamar need to do our job first.  Which is to get as many of our friends and family into the stadium and make sure they have a good time.  That is what will help to build a STRONG fan base which is important no matter what division we play in. All of the talk about we should be FBS only gives people an EXCUSE not to go to the games.  Competition is competition from coach pitch baseball up to the NFL. As long as you have an investment ( a team to root for) competition at any level is entertaining. Lets do our everyday job of getting fans in the stands until we hit the lottery.  Then we can give the Southland that speech we have been working on. IMO we should forget the WAC and be in line when the SEC expands to 16.  ;D
 17.
Ok, went to the website to purchase tickets.  Are the seatback sections sold out cause they are not available on the internet?
Could be or it could be because those seats require a three year Cardinal Club commitment.  You will probably have to call the ticket office.
 18. Good to see that they have made a lot of progress since Friday, even with the bad weather.  Another good note is that they are moving the web cam.  ;D
 19.
I am very disappointed in the up-keep and appearance of the fields.  To be such a tremendous facility, the fields are extremely under-kept.  There is a similar facility in nearby Sulphur (Frasch Park), whose fields are immaculate.  They also just hosted a well managed World Series.  In the future, just know there is another option and they may actually put some of that money back into the product.
I just want to explain one of the MAJOR differences between Sulphur and Ford Park.  There is a special tax that every Sulphur resident pays for parks and recreation. So as far as putting money back into the parks the funds are already there.  Jefferson county on the other hand is having financial troubles largely due to Ford Park.  Maybe Jefferson county could ask for a tax like Sulphur has to help maintain Ford Park and other areas in the county.  Everyone knows that a tax like that would never pass.
 20. By looking at the web cam it looks like the first few rows of seats are going to stink.  It looks like the field is to high that it should have been dug down a little more.  Since most of the players stand the whole game the first few rows will not be able to see.  I hope this is just a bad angle from the web cam.
 21. Good thing LU had that HARD nonconference schedule. Oh wait they didn't. Great job Cards.
 22.
Having attended the game - SHSU's game plan WORKED. One member of the media did ask me if Lamar was still in the SLC, or if they had moved to Division II. Heard they were starting a football team, but was not sure if LU was playing in the Gulf South Conference or the Southland.
WOW! Now there is a media person who sucks at there job. Oh wait, you didn't say what part of the "media" they were in. If they were in New Orleans it must have been someone from Girls Gone Wild.
