  1. No, we did not cover Kirbyville then because that district did not include any of our East Texas teams. Basically the difference in our site and yours is that you guys are "team" specific.... We cover "districts".... We feel that even though Kirbyville is not in "East Texas" the fans from Corrigan and Shelbyville and other areas that are "East Texas" will want to know what is going on there.... Basically, Kirbyville and Newton and Jasper and Woodville will go in and out of our site with realignment.... For instance, we used to cover Colmesneil, and we do not anymore.... Same with Livingston and Huntsville... Once realignment comes out every two years, we redefine our coverage area.... Hope that clears it up a little....
  2. ryker, why are you listing off all of the linebackers? Did Broderick Jackson play as a linebacker or a defensive back? Aggies, we have always included those three schools in our coverage area because we cover the entire districts they are in. We also include Jasper because they are in 18-3A. Boundary lines are something that I have worked closely with Jordan to define.
  3. Well everyone from Kirbyville on our board was given the same opportunity as everyone else to nominate players. We received ZERO nominations from Kirbyville, so to me, it is a joke that the fans who sit and complain when the kids aren't where they want them didn't take the time to nominate. If you feel like Kirbyville gets cheated on our site, then feel free to come join the forums and let your voice be heard.
  4. As the ringleader of EastexSports.com and responsible for finalizing the list, I would enjoy it if you could tell me who was left off of the list and who they should replace. It is posts like this that make it hard to do what we do. You are basically saying the kids who were recognized did not deserve it. How about appreciating the accomplishments of all of these young men instead of making a joke out of what this list represents. And in case you were wondering, there is A LOT more to East Texas 1A and 2A football besides Kirbyville....
  5. We want to know what you at home think: 1. Who wins? Dallas or Washington? 2. Who wins the National Championship?

  7. Congratulations to Coach Mahaffey and to the Hamshire-Fannett baseball program. You just got a good coach and a great man. H-F has just earned a new follower.
  8. Guys, guys, guys..... #1 - I haven't seen Spurger play.... I don't know anything about them but that they are going to try and force Cayuga into a half-court game.... #2 - I have seen Cayuga play 3 times.... and unless Spurger can run with Cayuga, they are in trouble.... You're right, whoever it was that said they would try and force Yuga into a half-court game, but by the time Spurger gets their 5 down the floor, Cayuga will have have already gotten down the floor! Yuga will run ALMOST any team to death.... And honestly, and I think the people in Yantis will argue this point.... You don't want Cayuga in a half-court game either.... Duncan and Summerville and Kennedy will kill you behind the arc if they are on.... Plain and simple, if Cayuga shoots the ball well at all, they win... To beat Yuga you have to shoot the ball well and hope they don't.... They are amazingly athletic..... Yuga wins.
  9. Sorry guys, didn't mean to go 16 for 16 on you guys in Round 1!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
  10. Let me say one thing about the two guys from Martin's Mill. I saw them on court level Tuesday night, and I'm only 6'3". Neither of those guys are 6'5"
  11. I'm not going to talk smack, I like to think that what I say on this message board has some credibility to it. I pride myself in making smart comments and judgements. I saw Cayuga against Beckville, and to be honest, Cayuga forced Beckville into making way too many turnovers and outhustled them. There isn't a better group of athletes than the starting five at Beckville, and Cayuga beat them up and down the floor. As far as saying that that district is special because their #1 and #2 are in the Regional Tourney, what about Cayuga and Martin's Mill? Same district. #1 and #2. Seems to me like we'll find out where the better basketball is played. And as far as a West Hardin/Big Sandy Regional Final. No way. West Hardin MIGHT beat Cayuga, but Big Sandy WILL NOT beat Martin's Mill. I'm not talking smack about anyone, but you have to respect good teams. And Cayuga and Martin's Mill are excellent basketball teams. If West Hardin doesn't go 9 or 10 deep, they're in trouble. Cayuga by 15.
  12. Crockett and Diboll both are pretty good, they both have a stud in the middle than can take control of any game.... I'll be surprised if they don't meet in the Regional Final on Saturday....
  13. In response to the post about Cuero being the team to beat; you can't look at their score in a single game to prove that. Football is one of those sports that have so many factors involved in it that are different every Friday, that it's hard to base what may happen in one week based on something that happened 3 or 4 weeks ago maybe.... Cuero is good, don't get me wrong, but I don't think they are the team to beat this year.... Just my two cents....
  14. I never realized the jealousy involved with people in SETX and West Orange-Stark.... To look at that team and say they aren't that good is IGNORANT!
  15. Apparently you haven't seen Diboll then... And why wouldnt West Orange-Stark beat Cuero? I think West Orange-Stark would beat anyone in 3A, and most of 4A!
  16. Just wanted to pass the word along that folks over at www.detxsports.com are wondering where all the Newton fans are since 23-2A is covered on that site.... I think they are getting tired of talking trash and no one talking back..... Come on over and give em what they want....
  17. I can assure anyone that still questions what kind of coach Coach Reyenga is, that they are getting not only a top notch coach, but a top notch man. I played for Coach Reyenga my senior season (his first in Rusk) and let me tell you, I have the utmost respect for him. The mark of a good coach is not only that you remember what he taught you on the field, but what he taught you off it. I consider it a great pleasure to not only say he was my coach, but that he is my friend.
  18. That stinks for the Bruins. They will definitely have better luck come the fall and REAL football starts.
  19. Guys if you heard the reasoning for the 4 team districts you would understand.... They did the right thing.... They could have consolidated some of those they said, but for travel purposes it was easier to go with 4 teams.... I like the idea, but it does mean that all you have to do is win 1 game in district to go.... 21-3A is the toughest, but it will be alright....
  20. jdawg, why all the hate brother? it must be a pitiful feeling to know you think Coldspring will win in anything man!
  21. Saw Shepherd Friday night, and they ran Kirbyville up and down the floor in the first half.... I don't think athleticism will be an issue in this one.... Shepherd has 3 snipers on the outside, and some hustlers down low.... Should be a VERY good game....
  22. Well, it wouldn't happen for a while, but if you compare the best teams in the district, Diboll and Silsbee, you're looking at two Top 5 caliber teams.... After that, you look at Jasper, Shepherd, Coldspring in 22-3A, and then Crockett, Palestine, Hudson in 21-3A, pretty evenly matched teams.... Should be exciting in the 1st round....
  23. Shepherd is playing in the Lovelady tournament.... They beat Alto 71-70 in OT on Tuesday, and lost to New Waverly by 1 in Triple OT today! They play Thursday at 12:30, but I'm not sure who they are playing!
