  1. I'm proud to be a Newton fan and proud of this group of boys that gave it their best effort. They never gave up, the sign of true champions. We will once again support them next year.
  2. This is a great article about a great man. I'm glad to have had the chance to have a son play for him as a Newton Eagles.
  3. To all the seniors on the Newton Eagles, thanks for an exciting year, keep it up and get us a ring.
  4. Take back a few mistakes, dropped interceptions and the ref's interpretation of the rules and the K'ville -Newton score could have been different, but I have accepted defeat in that game and moved on. I have also thrown my support behind the Wildcats, but with that said K'ville fans should know that anyone can be beat and most of the 2a teams in the playoffs are capable of doing just that if you take them for granted.
  5. San Augustine-New Waverly -any score are do they play tonite?
  6. Great Article! Sometimes the offensive line including the center don't get noticed until they miss a block or have a bad snap, but they must jell as a unit for anything to happen. My hats off to all the boys in the trenches ( offense & defense) for the sometimes unnoticed job they do.
  7. Congrats to Coach Barbay on his 300th win and to all the teams who will be moving forward. I must also say congrats to those who lost for their efforts and for providing us with some exciting playoff football.

  9. Barbay to my son," ---- you could run thru the woods and never hit a tree, hit somebody"
  10. Having known Curtis for many years, I must say that he has always been a dedicated coach and fair with the kids. I remember his words many years ago when the Quarterback club was formed "If you are here to complain because your kid isn't getting playing time, your at the wrong place, I will always put the hardest workers and the best players on the field" and this he has always done. I'm glad that he has remained head coach and that my son has gotten the benefit of his coaching. And I'm sure his boys will follow his legacy and make their mark in history. Knowing Curtis, if the boy's want to talk about their team and strategies, he will tell them he has his on strategies to work on for the Eagles, figure it out for yourself ;D
  11. In Lufkin Friday Night to support the Eagles. Had Hoped K'ville would play Thurs. so I could be there.
  12. Congrats to the Wildcats, This was the most exciting game I've been to all year. In the same breath, the Eagles also recieve my congrats for a good game and we will be following both teams as they play in the playoffs.
