  1. I am no genius, but he might be talking about the poll started by Critter or he could be talking about the thread "Bridge City vs. Huffman" that said by almost everyone posting that Bridge City would win big.  JMO

I don't think he meant in reference to anything 22 vs 21 - 3A.  Just that because the majority of southeast Texas schools are from district 21 it only makes sense that most people would pick a school from 21-3A to win.
  2. Falecia Brown went to state in 200 I think in 96.  Pretty sure Tamara Spikes went also in the 200, but not 100%.  Pretty good track teams in the mid to late 90's on boys and girls side.

Maybe I can pull out the old year books and find out.  My brother who went to state for HF in 97 in the 400 would probably remember better.  If I remember I will ask him.

That universal off season is what  put HF on top in the 90 s , those two hc HF after put in no off season and look what it got them , price put it back in and you are starting to see results again - fact

I played basketball at HF in '97, '98, and '99 under AD Claude Tarver and we did not have UNIVERSAL OFF SEASON.  Just saying.

Lets get some facts straight here:

-HF lost to Kountze in the Regional QUARTER Final....not Regional Final (they were in same district that year....HF finished 3rd and Kountze won it)

-HF did not win district when HJ was in it.....they split games but, HF lost another district game and HJ won the district title that year (not the same year as HF lost to Kountze)

-And Jeff Keener is one heckuva coach

Speechless not sure about your 1st fact because I didn't play that year, but as to your 2nd fact maybe in the 2000's, but not in 1998-1999 season.  HJ was 4th in district.
  5. I played for Gerald Parr in 98-99 season the last year he was there.  Not sure about the leaving in a cloud of dust unless they kept it very secret and that's kinda hard to believe in a small school like HF.  HF was cochamps that year with Liberty with 3 district loses one to Liberty, one to Barbers Hill, one to either HJ or SFA can't remember.  Not sure how long Parr had been there but we lost first round to Kirbyville.  This was the 1st time 3 teams made play offs.  97-98 season HF was 3rd with no playoffs, and 96-97 season HF was 2nd losing to Kountze in first round.
  6. Yeah I started doing research and was unaware on some of the NCAA recruiting rules for football.  It is weird to me that the rules are different for football compared to other sports.  The only one difference is the ONE allowed phone call, which IMO just increases the chances of recruiting violations to occur.  The following article states the NCAA rules for recruiting 9th - 12th grade  http://www.ehow.com/way_5347365_ncaa-football-recruiting-rules.html .  What is funny is in one article I was reading is how some collegiate coaches just make verbal offers and they even admitted how most of the time they don't give the kid a scholarship it is just to not lose a recruit to another school.  Mainly just to keep them still interested in their school.

  7. I think a lot of people don't know the following:
Collegiate coaches are not allowed to contact athletes before July 1st of their senior year. However athletes are allowed to contact coaches of schools they are interested in.

So here is my question why do so many people talk about all theses kids who are sophomores/juniors receiving interest from all these schools.

Thousands of letters are sent out every season, so a letter doesn't equate to a scholarship.
