About Hawks4Life

  • Birthday 08/02/1962
  1. You need to PM HJHAWKS - he is the JV coach and does most of the correspondence and data entry for Coach Sims. We would all love for him to update the school website as most of us rely on that to plan our week.
  2. To answer your question Bobcat, HJ has five vasity players returning that spent time on the court 1. Moore (Senior) 2. Sutherland (Senior) 3. King (Senior) 4. Hall (Senior) 5. Fontenot (Junior) These starting five are very comfortable together and have played together sucessfully for a long period of time. There are a few JV players that have improved and will deepen HJ's bench. HJ will be OK.
  3. In response to whether the girls have met. I am from HJ, but Yes, he introduced himself and his spouse after the Monday Summer League game at Central. He watched them play the entire game and then they huddled up for introductions. He shook hands with several parents that desired to meet him. He seems to be all about basketball and was really encouraging and praising the HF girls (team) who by the way played a really great game. Good Luck HF you have talent.
  4. I cannot believe, with the economy in the state that it is in, that Central would begin charging a $2.00 door fee. They already make money with a concession. We pay $40.00 to play 8 games in four weeks. These games are certainly not competitive as in other summer leagues. Its a way for area school players to stay in shape and just have fun. Furthermore, as I told the door lady last night, charging should have been mentioned in the communication when signing these girls up.
  5. Buc, please read all the post. Human nature is to speculate, it maks good debate and conversation. Not one person on this post has made up a scenerio. All that has been stated is if nothing else he was guilty by association. Have you watched a video, call the court house or read articles that are available? I think for the most part, we see talented young men that have so much going for them and then they make a poor choice and it becomes a hiccup on their life-long journey. That disappoints us, we want role models for ourselves, for our children. Using common sense, this All Star player would not have been carted off to booking had he not either been in the midst of the event, a finger pointed at his involvement, or witnesses ratting him out that constituted a booking. Don't base your beliefs on CSI or another nighttime drama. More individuals are allowed to walk away from a scene due to no evidence showing they are a part. You may feel my post is ignorant, but unless you are educated in the process of how this works, I would not throw stones. If this young man only was present when another committed an illegal act, he will be given the op. to give his statement and most likely that will be the end of that. Jails are too full to hold 17 year olds that don't belong there. The only time, generally, that he would continue in the system is if there are other circumstances unknown to us or a past brush with the law. Again, we can only speculate because the information is slowly being reported. Dick......in answer to your post last evening, "a bug" was a very bad term I used. I apologize. Not my forte'. When I read your post, I often visualize that the poster your are bereting is a bug beneath your shoe that your are twisting, turning and stomping until they are completely without merit. Most often BECAUSE or so it seems they have a little different viewpoint than yours. It is very entertaining, but then we all have to remember that the person you have pounced on is a human being. You may not have this in you, but your post show a very angry, disappointed man that can't overcome the unfairness of whatever you have endured. I am a woman, I have endured more than I care to discuss - most all humans, if they live long enough will be ignored, disrespected, dehumanized, prejudices brought against them at one point in their lives - some of us seem to get more than a double dose. Its how we overcome that carves out who we really are inside. Does my softer method of posting make me a target for cynics. Sure, thats OK. But just remember and Dicky knows this, it takes all flavors, colors, and sizes to make this world a beautiful place. I promise you.
  6. Dicki - I have to laugh when reading most of your post. I would love to meet you in person. If for no other reason than to see if you truly are as argumentative in person. I have maybe posted less than 10 post in all the time I get on here. If you read and follow just your input, quietly, there is a pattern. You pro and con things constantly and are very guilty of smashing any bug you see fit. Now on this subject. 1st of all, this young man may or may not have been directly involved based on the article. But....I can assure you that the law in almost all states would jail him for being in the middle of the crime. Had he quickly walked aprox 100 yards away and crossed the street, he would not have spent the night in jail. Period. This makes him guilty by association and that was his choice. No one is judging by anyother means than to say "Young Man, if you want to stay a good citizen, steer away from any level of crime". And for the record, a message board as this is for tossing out viewpoints and ideas. That doesn't mean we are saying the young man is doomed for the rest of his life. He made a choice, I am almost sure he wish he would have not unless he is self destructive.
  7. Wow!!! KB you are awesome and you know we love you! Go make use even prouder MS S.
  8. Oh my gosh, we are so proud of Jennifer Breeden. She is example of what it really should be all about. She is an awesome basketball player and teammate, but as one of my daughters closet friends and mentor, she is just an all around wonderful, smart young lady that will go far in life. She has played Varsity BB since her freshman year. You didn't hear her name much, especially in a forum, but she not only was a part of the backbone of the 2007-2008 team, but she consistently helped all her teammates stay focused on grades as she worked to keep her 4.0 GPA. I personally cannot say enough about what she means to my family and I wish her all the best that this life can offer as she merges into the adult world. You Go Girl!!!!
  9. It is oK to be upset and voice your opinion, but as a mom of a girl players FYI. At HJ, from the time an incoming freshman enters into the summer program, all coaches male or female make the athletes aware that they are required to play that sport during the off season for various reasons. They work with you and understand as you grow older you have other responsibilities, but you are required and those requirements (discipline) pay off. My child is a bench warmer and team cheerer and may always be. But you know what, she obeys her coaches and they have needed her and she knew the plays. If she was foggy, she talked it up at the bench. And it worked. But, i totally understand if you disagree with that committment level. If who you are mainly referring to is a senior, then he is and was always aware of how the program worked - and should have stayed within the boundaries. Whatever sports you play, you have to be committed and honor whatever position you end up with. Whether it is two quarters, or 3:00 minutes. On a more personal note, not one of these coaches are coaches that are dramatic or hold grudges against any players. Our current coaching staff honor students that are multi talented and who are athletic in various fields. But... if you have a deep bench of players that gave basketball their all for all years and have bonded with one another - thats who is going to be the chemistry on the court the longest. Does it mean they will never loose, heck no! Do I hurt when my child is aching to be on that court - sure - but when she is a senior in two years, no matter what the outcome of her playing time, I will honestly be able to say we did it HJ way and she will have grown mentally and as a team member more because of these rules.
  10. FYI - Yoshika from Hardin Jefferson is doing alright. She played the last two years at a Junior College and from I hear is now moving over to play at LSU. So, those of you reading this from the Lamar staff, you are missing out on some great talent.
  11. You are absolutely right, Bobcat. I too agree, I am just sick for these girls. And, when you all played us at HJ, you were a class act. There was not one word mentioned about the refs - at the game, nor in a forum. There are all kind of situations that can happen in a game, referees are human and it is impossible to call a perfect game, but when one man makes a call that is totally not in any reg book, then speaks out saying he felt he needed to makeup for a previously bad call by the other ref, well he has opened himself up to a reprimand at the least. At this level or competition, you have to keep your personal opinions and views out of the mix. This guy did not. I just hope and pray he stays away from Huntsville. ...also, Bobcat, HJ fans players and parents do not agree with someone on our side saying it was a fair call. We support you totally and this is scarey to think that it can happen to us.
  12. This is a very sad, but real situation. HJ Hawk is correct. An investigation into his call will not change the outcome of this game, but it may prevent him from doing so in the future. Maybe, but our coaches need to know his name so he will never be a choice in the future. No, KK and the Bobcats did not deserve this setup, but they are winners no matter what. And if Navasota came that close to the wire, with Regional refs, they won't get those breaks in Huntsville Competition from here on out is tough, they will have to earn EVERYTHING.
  13. Prayers are being said from Hawks territory. God Bless and Comfort this wonderful family.
  14. Great job tonight. Each time I watch you take the court, I am more and more proud of you. You have all the talent and "team" to make it all the way to State! Lets do it!!
