Will the players who had trouble at the end of the school year be able to play?

I think the umpires blew the interference call in the Barbers hill game.  The catcher moved up the line to make a play on  the ball and the runner hits her.  It is my understanding that it is the runners job to avoid contact.  Could have been a no call or OFFENSIVE interference.

The thing i find hard to believe is that one team could have both the first and second team DH.  I would be willing to bet that neither kid dh'd all year.  They may have had high batting averages and deserved some recognition but not to take it away from someone who was actually a DH.

Can you explain your assertion that he turned the Kountze program around?  Just asking not trying to stir anything. 

Will Coach Hodges be able to get them in the playoffs?  Saw they have a pretty tough district with only three going to the playoffs.  

Chilton is a lot different from Anahuac. 

I say go with Speights and get all the kids out and bring back some glory to Anahuac.  He can relate to the kids what it is like to work hard and get the attention of colleges even in Anahuac.  He did leave Anahuac on a football scholarship.

I am fairly certain that Douglass is more talented than we are, and I can guarantee that they are better coached. I hope the Wildcats can pull this one out, but I have my doubts.

Re assigned or new job?

I can't believe this whole story.  I thought when you were a part of a team, you honored that commitment.  I don't really care how much money was spent beforehand, the trip should not have been scheduled during the playoffs.

One thing we are all missing: For the most part when we talk about the two most successful programs in the area (Newton and WOS),  No One else has that support.  By that I mean if a kid tries to quit the football team, they are not only ostracized in the community but the vast majority of them would be in serious trouble at home.  How many players would quit at other schools because of the Mustang mile, bleachers at the end of a two a day practice, etc.?

You really need to look at the athletes!!!! You can not win the Kentucky Derby with a jackass!  Show me one coach that has won consistently with little talent on the football field.  The best ATHLETES do not always win, but the best football players usually do.

And yes, that usually has a lot to do with the coach.  

Call me ignorant, but how can they keep the media away when it is a Public School?

I would think that HD head coach still mows the fields.At least stripes them.

Good article. Also noticed the article on Grayson Padgett from HJ.  Very good article and glad he made it back from injuries.  It was the first article that I have seen where the main contributor was Dad.

Remember a coach with a winning percentage above 800 was forced out at BC. And yes I am a friend of BB's.

Just my opinion, but the first thing a new coach needs to instill at Ozen will not be Offense, Defense, or Special Teams; Discipline and Trust!!  I have seen several Ozen games the last 5 or 6 years and there have for the most part been two certainties: they are rarely(if ever) out athleted and mistakes on the field in my mind related to discipline.  Understand the discipline that I am referring to is related to penalties and blown assignments not behavior.    

They play off everything if head to head is tied. 3 teams for one spot they flip to see who plays each other and who gets to wait on the winner.
