  1. Since no one has yet to post a top 10 list, i will get the arguments started with one.

    1A-3A

    1. Silsbee

    2. HJ

    3. Kountze

    4. Orangefield

    5. Newton

    6. Big Sandy

    7. Jasper

    8. Spurger

    9. Hull Daisetta

    10. East Chambers

Some of these teams got hit by graduation and lost some important pieces like Big Sandy, Spurger, Hull Daisetta, and East Chambers, but i expect all those teams to be in the playoff hunt this year.  Some of these teams i know less about than others so I wasnt exactly sure where to put them but obviously they have a chance to move up after the season starts.

How do you think jasper will do in their new district?
  2. no-look,

Jasper's has two 1st team all-district players returning  (Kwame Spikes/Dominique Bailey) and have some subvarsity kids that are ready to step up. They have committed the off-season to developing  6-5 Matthew Barrows and 6-4 Justin McCullough. Their kids will be starting  spring ball soon and the gym is open. Expect Ryan Gaston, Anoir Walker & Brandon Weatherspoon  to step and they have a sleeper in guard Jonathan Hadnot (didn't play this season). Expect them to be bigger and faster than the previous team. Their in the weight room and playing ball as much as they can.

Does Spikes and Bailey play football?
  3. I don't know much about Jasper, so I can't comment, but I have seent the other teams in the district for the last two years.

Hudson - Bring back Thomas Davis and his brother Ja'Lexius.  Always tough to play at home, and should do very well with those two.  Should compete with Jasper for the district championship.

Center - Only losing two starters from a team that was in the playoff chase until the last week.  Post Corey Garrett, who is 6'8, should anchor their defense and his offense continues to improve.  Alex Cloudy is a good PG and has two years of varsity experience.  If Center can win a few tough road games, they should make the playoffs.

Central - Lost Jacolbi Bias, but it's always a challenge to win at Central.  They're guaranteed to go 6-1 at home in district, so picking up a few road wins would give them a chance.

Diboll - Will be talented, and have some decent big men that should help them improve defensively.  If Jacolby Spencer can carry the guards, they may surprise some.

Carthage - Talent, but young talent.  Carthage graduated eight seniors and all five starters.  There will be only 3 returning letterman.  There is talent at the sub-varsity level, but that young talent will be inexperienced.  Also have a new coach.

Huntington - A group that is pretty talented, but lacks athleticism.  Tough to do in this district.  Coach Tim Bartlett is new to the district, but if he can get them to play consistently, they could surprise some too.  Huntington started off district 3-4 last year before losing some tough games and finishing 4-10.

Rusk - If discipline improves (new AD), then Rusk has some athletes that could be dangerous.  JV did fairly well in district last year, and new facilities will have the kids excited about playing basketball.

My prediction: Hudson, Jasper, and Center

Central guaranteed to go 6-1 at home?  Are you saying someone could get homered over there?....lol

I had Carthage in the playoffs, but didn't know that they lost all starters and with eight seniors......If thats the case I will have to pick Hudson, Huntington and Jasper for playoff spots....(no partictular order)

    Jasper....talented guards that can go.

    Hudson....almost everyone back.

Huntington....could start three 6'5"s....summer games(for whatever thats worth)...Lost to Hudson by two. Beat a good Lufkin team(split varsity) by 1. beat Diboll by 26....much improved.

Center will be hard to beat......good point guard and a 6'8"

Central Pollock.......will be down and small, but coach Collins will have them competive...

Diboll......Lost a lot to graduation and had a starter to move(so I'm told)

Rusk......should be down, but will have some good athletes..

They may want to go ahead and play the games just in case I'm wrong...lol

  5. A bunch of "johnny come latelys" if you ask me...Where was all this "support" 5 years ago when he got drafted and was not seeing much playing time initially? FAIRWEATHER FANS...Thats what they are...He becomes a starter on a championship team, now everybody loves him...how shallow....I have been there from day one...I mean day one as in freshman year at Ozen, BEFORE he became "Big Perk" and I have seen all the doubters and nay sayers...Even after he was drafted, BEAUMONT people had NEGATIVE things to say. Remember after we lost the 2002 title to Dallas Lincoln? "Perk was shown up by (Lincoln's Chris) Bosh...he was exploited...he is lazy..he is this, he is that" That was so incorrect, yet these "proud" Beaumonters were talking down on him since then... NOW they are so "supportive"  Give me a break....BOY, HOW THINGS CHANGE....INSTANTLY....OK, I am off of that soapbox...Congrats BIG FELLA...I KNEW you would do well in the NBA...Enjoy your day in the sun...You have worked hard and earned your due....I know...I was there....

Thats the nature of the beast......to be loved, you have to perform.
  6. I have lost all respect for the UT BB program.

I personally don't think Brown will ink 1 sec in the Drum.

If he does, he will embarrass UT.

    UT will deserve the embarrassment.

I hope I am dead wrong on all accounts.

I doubt seriously that I am wrong.

I will eat crow if I am wrong

    American Idol is a fraud.

    TAKS is borrring.

    It's Friday

Why does the TEA monitor keep looking in my room?

    anyway....anybody out there.

American Idol and Dancing with the Stars is a good time to take a nap.......Just let me watch PTI !
  7. Some of my most memorial games were between Huntington and Jasper a  few years back. Out of four district games, Jasper won the first game in three overtimes, the second game Huntington won in five overtimes........next year Huntington won first meeting in four OT's and Jasper won the fourth by three or so in regulation..............that was some of the most intense atmospheres that I can remember. maybe that can be renewed...........

  8. Hudson and Carthage should get in. Third is up for grabs. I think Diboll loses two best players. Central should be down. Huntington has most everyone back and should be better. (split with Hudson and Diboll this year) Not sure about Jasper, they are always tough. How many starters are graduating?.......also Center will be tough again......

  9. Wow is all I can say!!!!!  Shackbully pretty much hit the nail on the head!!!  This Navasota team was not the same team that played OF on Friday night.  They ahd another gear and then another gear tonight.  Great win for HJ and now looking forward to Friday night in Huntsville.  Navasota will be back stronger than ever next year as they return4 out of their top 5.  I thought that Silsbee was the most athletic and quick team that HJ has played all year.  Navasota makes Silsbee look like a bunch of 40 year olds.  See you in Huntsville!!!  Hopefully HJ/ Silsbee round 4!!!!!!

Hey Lazeek, whats wrong with a forty year old?.......lol
