Good win for Lumberton over one of the area's early season favorites. Both teams played with grit and hustle.

Mean Machine reacted to hjhawks in TABC rankings Updated 2/17
Let all this stuff be what it is.... Rankings made by TABC, Roy Report, TGHCA, Etc are just one persons view.... nothing more, nothing less.... If you go by record, teams that play tough schedules are left out.... If you go by strength of schedule, good teams are left out... If coaches dont reports scores, good teams are left out...
At the end of the day, each coach schedules games for a reason... some to get wins to get their kids confidence, some to see different styles of play, some to get tough games, etc....
The rankings that matter get decided at a tournament at the end of the seson... until then, keep working and lets all go show the rest of Texas how SETX hoops come feb and march.....

It was another tremendous field this year. Waller is as strong as they have ever been. LaPorte, who just three years ago, went 0-6 in this tournament, went 5-1 this season. Lumberton is really good. Kids play extremely hard and are well coached. Sealy, Bastrop’s Cedar Creek and Cleveland are all rebuilding but were very well coached. Teams like coming to Navasota because they get 6 games in 3 days. A true round robin tournament. They know when they play all 6 games. Easy to schedule other events while they are in town. A couple of the coaches took their teams to Santa’s Wonderland in College Station. Another couple of teams went to watch Texas A and M practice.

Wanted to give United the advanced scouting report, lol. Lumberton guard play harassed Tx City guards enough such that Tx City couldnt take full advantage of their size advantage.

All I'll say is it will be a long game for those guys because United's best scorer just so happens to play the most aggressive D.

Scrappy play by both teams. Tx City lot of length. Lumberton man to man defense got them back in game in second half.

Mean Machine reacted to $$Buckets$$ in San Marcos Tournament
Good win vs a team with a very highly touted Freshman thats already a Baylor commit and a post player thats highly recruited as well. Nice way to get it done! I love the schedule that Coach Brown has United playing, it will definitely pay off.

Bmt United (6-2) revamped their schedule this season after going 34-1 last year. Playing stiffer competition all (6A) schools thus far.
Putting in the hard work to go further this season than last with this younger group and less size.

Mean Machine got a reaction from OneChance in Lumberton Tournament/Post results here!
Going into Saturday's games, here is what I have seen from watching most of the games:
Jasper and Barbers Hill will be quite a game, as they have been head and shoulders above the rest of the competition the first two days.
Concordia Lutheran and Tomball have been very solid in the games they have played, two well coached ball clubs that get the most out of their squads.
PNG, Orangefield, and Lumberton have appeared to be up and down overall in terms of execution, be it from just finishing out rosters from returning volleyball players, integrating newer players into the varsity lineup, etc. These three teams have shown effort and hustle, the efficiency at which they have played at is what is still being dialed in.
Kelly has shown flashes as well, adjusting to style of play coach is having them play.
Vidor and Cleveland are young rosters that play very hard, and will continue to improve as the season moves forward

Mean Machine reacted to $$Buckets$$ in Bowie beYOUtiful classic brackets - (HJ)
HJ is 0-2 so far. Against 6A #8 Austin Westlake they were only down about 5 or 6 in the 3rd, then Jackson went down with a injury scare and sat out the rest of the game. They also played well against a very good 6A SA O'Conner team which featured a very fun matchup between Jackson and SA O'Conner's Carleigh Wenzel (they had 28 and 32 points respectfully). On a side note tho SA O'Conner shot 40 free throws (29-40) to only 8 from HJ (3-8)! I love the fact that HJ is not afraid to play against the best competition that Texas has to offer. Today they take a very tough SA Reagan team who features a 6'4 kid that is an absolute beast and a 6'1 Freshman that is already committed to Baylor, so should be a fun day. HJ is definitely getting prepared to make another State run.
