1. Hmmmm....still say Doty should have been the MVP or at least 1st team all-district from what I saw.  Granted I didn't see Ozen or Livingston but everyone else and Central/PNG/Lumberton multiple.
2. Haha  :P :P :P  I've kept my player critical comments to a minimum this year!!!  I would prefer X Baldwin in the backfield with Ploch and Fowler in the slot and Frank on the outside.  I know we feature the slot receivers but having that burner outside could really open things up underneath for Ploch and Fowler.  But I always will defer my opinions to CS because he sees the guys everyday in practice and has weighed all the options and will put the best team on the field.  The way Frank is going he may rush for 1,000 yards after never taking a snap at running back during the entire regular season!!  Not to mention that Delasbour is a stud at rb as well when he doesn't fumble and we haven't seen him there since the Crosby game.  That being said the limiting of the two way player has really paid off lately.
3. I was talking to the women in my office who have kids playing for Waller.  They told me that Waller was really able to run the ball on Brenham and how it's a big rivalry game, etc.  Was it just an off game or were they running a good scheme and taking advantage of a breakdown in the defense?? I've seen many of you site the Crosby game from this year as a reason that Dayton is "not as good as last year."  I assure you this year's version of Dayton is every bit as good as last year's team with super soph Gemal Fowler really starting to come into his own.  Dayton really laid an egg in the Crosby game with turnovers but the final score is not an accurate determination of where Dayton is right now (or really then either as I've never seen one team recover 9 fumbles and the other 0 in one game).
4. Brenham beat Crosby on a fake FG last year and Angleton this year.  May just come down to a fake.... Speed at the skill positions is pretty much a wash as it was for the most part last year.  Dayton's D-Line and Linebackers are small and quick while the Brenham O-Line is flat out BIG.  Another good match-up to watch.  Tough to say on that little bit of tape because the Brenham defense wasn't shown much so I'm not sure on that match-up.  It's going to come down to who executes better....the Dayton offense has yet to put together a full game but haven't needed it as of yet.  Looks like a pick 'em game to me right now.
5. Everyone has their moments but they don't last long typically. Where's all the disrespectful chiding that's supposed to happen before a big game???  You Brenham/Montgomery fans are making it tough to hate on you.  Too much respect going on here....c'mon Brenham, where's the revenge factor acid hate speeeeewwwwing? Anyway, nothing but good takes so far.  Brenham definitely has some size at WR while Dayton CB's are larger than they typically are and should match up well I think.  The single coverage is not going to be there on the wheel/fade routes like against Angleton so I don't really see the jump ball being as big of a play this week.  That's going to be an interesting match-up to watch
6. Wow, that is pretty sorry.
7.
BRENHAM 48,  DAYTON 35 .
Not quite...
8. Dayton's defense is really tough against the run as they usually are.  The pass defense has improved every game this year.  It's not all about speed and Dayton's defense is really really quick.  Dayton didn't play very well against El Campo and escaped.  I would expect they'll have it together this week.  Gotta find more info before I make a prediction.
9.
No more football for me. It's basketball time now.
Aww
10. No way....leave Ploch in at receiver and sub him in the Wildcat when we need to run the ball.  10 gives us the best chance to win and is the better QB.  If the Angleton game yesterday didn't show you anything about needing balance to the offense then I don't know what to say.
11. If the offense comes out firing then I don't see Brenham hanging.
12.

Not trying to get free adversiment here, but we have been doing a section called blast from the past in TXHSAS Magazine and we will be updating that online starting next Tuesday, We have some great stuff on kids from our 14 school coverage area and now that we will have a bigger online presence it should be even better.
This is off topic, but do you sell pictures that you publish in your magazine?
You looking for that great picture of #7 diving over the pile in the November issue I assume??
13. Defensively Dayton has one of, if not the quickest front 3 d-lines around.  The MLB rotation has kept them fresh and Baxter, Delasbour, and Ripkowski are studs and play fast as well.  Ballpoint has come into his own at outside backer....if he could've just settled in there say like 3 years ago but...the secondary has seen marked improvement and may see some nickel packages this week.  Truth be told that with all of Dayton's offense in recent years, Stewarts bread and butter has always been a stout defense.
14. We're happy to see it as well.  Dayton didn't play their best game against El Campo but a W is a W.
15. Alright this is a ridiculous thread.....until next week anyway.
16. Well the obvious Dayton/Brenham on Saturday but haven't checked the Friday or early Saturday schedule.  Would love to see Lake Travis again and how they compare to previous years.
17. Because they're the only team still playing.  Or did you miss the West Brook meltdown at Cinco Ranch?
18. Couldn't have said it better myself....where's that academically sound institution??
19. NG - Tony Hill - Don't need stats....just ask the Vidor center.  Returning 1st team all state last year, better this year. I thought PNG's QB was the best one I saw....Harmon had the stats but the QB was the key to the team. Payton Ploch has to be in there somewhere....don't know what position to put him at...QB, RB, Receiver, Punter, Kick Returner.
20. Dayton is the last big SETX school standing.  We remember the support from last 2 years and hope we get the same support this year.  Going to be a tough game against Brenham this week, especially with the grudge factor from last year.
21. Cuero is a traditional power and is always tough.  I think they take this one from Gilmer.
22. Same place as last year then.  Can't wait to see it.  Gotta do some research on Brenham but the first thing to mind is 15-14.  I know Brenham had already clinched, rested some players, etc... but it's the first thing that comes to mind.  I hear Brenham is huge and throws the ball well but has a hard time running the ball???  Dayton's d is small and lightning quick....
23. Yea....grain of salt with the Chronicle....
24. Word is Brenham started taking it to Angleton and they laid down.  Great character shown by Brenham IMO.  Figure out how to stop a one dimensional team and it's ballgame!  Can't wait for the grudge game now...two different teams but I'm sure Schlottman remembers the hits he took last year.  Still can't believe that kid is still walking after some of the hits he took in that game.  TOUGH KID!!!
25. 3 phases of the game....offense, defense, and SPECIAL TEAMS.  Friendswood really took the advantage on great special teams play.
