Coach Birdwell just joined a very small/unique group of coaches at HD, only a few coaches in HD history have lost to long time rivalries Hardin and WH in the same season… Way to go Coach Bird! SMH!! Applications will be passed out!!  

Birdwell’s free timeout to WH on the incomplete pass cost HD the game! Yet another example of his terrible play calling . 

Birdwell calls a pass play on key 3rd down, incomplete pass, WH ball, saved them a timeout with 2:40 left lol. Omg! Terrible play calling and clock management, HD having to overcome Birdwell.

2A D-2 HD upsets 3A Hardin at Hornet Stadium! Down goes a 3rd 3A team! HD is looking good, very young team that only will get better. HD was not expected to win hardly any games this year, especially after losing it’s whole backfield/top 2 players! They are fun to watch!

I'd say this might be a coinflip.  Definitely more important for Hardin that HD.. as Hardin won't have a lot of chances for close games after this one.  Meanwhile.. this game will be like the state championship of 79 to HD fans.  I'm sure they'd have a parade if they won.  Based on the rhetoric I've seen about this rivalry game anyway.

You got it the opposite lol. If Hardin wins it’s a Super Bowl victory, look at the all time series of HD vs Hardin and WH. These schools have both got shirts made after beating HD. 

3A Hardin at home, should be picked by all y’all to win on the pick’ems, just like the last 2 HD games, we upset. Can HD knock off another 3A…?  Y’all overwhelming majority picked Warren last week, y’all were crickets after the HD win.

Pretty good competitive game, HD with a few costly fumbles. Warren had 2 fumbles on offense, they picked up and turned into long runs. #4 for Warren at TB is fast and an athlete, will be all-district possibly in 3A, best player on the field.

 

warren up 6-0 at half. 

Warren put it on a supposedly improved Hardin team last week, Hardin had played with Liberty in their scrimmage, losing 14-7 to Liberty. Warren may be the real deal. They should blow through the smaller HD 2A team, but that is why they play the game. Coach Birdwell has HD looking sharp… 

 

Hoping for an HD Bobcat upset again this week. Most on this forum again picking the 3A team over HD, and rightly so..

The bottom line, is HD was picked by 90% of people on this forum to lose to the bigger classification school Kountze. It was also common knowledge, HD was said to have a not so good team, maybe one of the most down teams in recent years, especially being without their whole backfield, 3 starters from last year that aren’t playing, then HD came out and upset Kountze by 10 points. 
 

Usually that upset win gets lots of congrats and claps, in this instance it got some boos and frowns… Lots of that is because of the hardcore HD fan base over the years, talking lots of smack on this forum, HD fans are very passionate and proud of where they are from. 
 

At the end of the day it was a good win for HD, that’s all, good start to week 1. We all know Kountze is a basketball school, not WOS or Katy, but a win is a win, especially when 90% of the folks picked you to lose lol.

I bet Warren is picked to win by 12 points or more. Warren is a good team, they put it on Hardin good too. I wouldn’t be surprised if HD plays with them, possibly upsets. Birdwell has them looking sharp.

Yep, when my great grandpa, Grandpa, dad and myself played for HD, Hardin was in our District, it had been a minute since they were in our District. There were times through out the decades, Hardin moved out of HD’s district, then came back.
