They'll be at the top half of the bottom of the district. Sorry.
PAM has got some players coming back...That #99 is a beast...I saw him chase down Oregon Commit Joshua Huff...That is no easy task.
 2.
I think Porter will beat NC and CC.  Beyond that, I dont have a clue.
Really the first year program beats two established programs? I guess it is certainly possible... Caney Creek is pretty bad, so ill give you that... But a New Caney team with Seniors? What does New Caney look like this year?  Players returning, key players? What about Porter, any studs?
 3.
NC had a good O-line back in the Mid 90's.  The Line used to be the solid thing that NC had year in and year out, more than skill kids, but that has died out for some reason.  The younger Dunlap is no where close to the athlete that CJ was.  The sophomore team did well this year (8-2), the freshman did good, and White Oak's (feeds Porter) teams did very good as well.
Don't get me wrong...New Caney has had some kids come through that could ball, but for the most part...They have severly lacked in A. Coaching B. Well balanced Talent. Their failure to win games is a direct reflection on coaching.  It seems to me that ever coach that comes New Caney's way doesn't account for the type of talent he has...For instance, this past coach...He decided to run a Spread offense...Well, i went to the spring scrimmage his first year... I never translate the success of the underclassmen with success in the future.  Reason being is that their is a large amount of attrition that goes on between 10th and 12 grade... If you have a incoming class of 100....by the time their seniors you'll have 40 from that class...hard to gauge how well they do...and yes, sometimes you lose a couple of good ones. Not to mention, the Varsity game is so much more complex.  We will see how New Caney does, What do you think happens?  Where does Porter or New Caney fall into the district ranks?
 4.
Guess I should maybe re-phrase, I don't see them being a power house in the next couple of years. More than one thing hurting them. They do not play any real stiff competetion in pre-district or district. They will most likely go through the regular season at 10-0 or 9-1. By the area round they will face someone who has been battle tested. I also think the split has really taken away alot of their athletes. They will some above average starters but they will not have as much depth as you have seen at Humble in years past. Any idea why didn't they schedule Kingwood in a pre-district game? I think Huntsville wins the district next year. I don't know all of their predistrict schedule but believe they play Brenham.
That's fair, it ill just have to be something Humble proves this season.  The depth has definitely been hurt, but we have about 5-6 Divison 1 players on this varsity team right now.....Id say that we are pretty loaded with above average players. as far as not scheduling Kingwood....The rivarly doesn't mean as much as it used to.  The Kids don't even really view it as a rivalry anymore...the two worlds are so different.  Atascocita is more of a rival, but barely.  The gets get more excited about playing the likes of Aldine HS then Kingwood.
 5.

I believe you stated earlier you would pay 50 bucks for a New Caney School beating a Humble ISD school in their first season. It has happened before. Check out Kingwoods first year playing varsity. They lost to New Caney 41-0. Smalls was not the best athlete his senior year. Two other players from that class played some college ball but he did not. Michael Miller and Jacob Powell. No doubt Smalls was a surprise as he wasn't even considered a starter to begin the year. The Dunlaps would not be considered the best athletes of their class either. I do agree that next year Humble and Huntsville will start the season as the teams to beat in this district, but Humble is not what it once was either.
I meant now...Not in the early 80's.    New Caney hasn't always been so depleted athletically, but the growth of Kingwood really has hurt them.  Smalls was a solid athlete, which to me was under used...I would of used him as a HS DE not a running back/ Linebacker... From what i understand he played a season at Texas State, but im not positive.   and the Dunlaps weren't the best athletes in their class...Who was? as far as Humble not being what it once was, ill agree....We were split...Just like Humble wasn't the same Humble after Kingwood....We changed.   I believe that this Humble (the one that will no longer be split) will be a better one then in previous years...i believe that Humble will take a course very similar to North Shore and Westfield over the course of the next 10-15 years.  We are no longer considered rural, but Urban.....and if we can approach our programs like those two have (NS in 96 and Westfield in 02)...we will have stronger teams then we did in the 90's and early 2000's. We have an opportunity to build our tradition on equal footing before we get moved back up to 5a...a chance to play on a level playing field instead of playing programs that have 300+ kids and have had a student enrollment of 3400 for 10 years now... Humble is in a unique place in its history, we get a shot to rebuild ourselves.....and not start from behind. After we split with Kingwood it took us 10 years to recover because we moved to the new class 5a...we would of been better off staying at 4a...but it didn't happen that way.   with the move down, we will be able to avoid the growing pains to a large degree and stay competitive...which is all i ask.
I agree Smalls would have been a good DE. As for the Dunlaps, if memory serves me I believe he graduated in the same class as Andrew Riddick. Andrew was a gifted athlete, just had a little too much attitude. Believe he was still playing college baseball last year. The younger Dunlap did not like to get hit, that is why he rarely ran the ball on offense, and he fumbled too much on kick returns. Humble will definetely be competetive in 4A. I just don't see them being a power house. You also didn't give the New Caney Oline any love. They had a couple of all district Olinemen this past year in a district with The Woodlands and Lufkin. Jacob Powell was at Texas State for at least 1 year, I don't remember Smalls going there but he could have.
Smalls would of made a great DE, he had really good explosion and we was a big muscular guy...probably shock the hell out of most Tackles and TE's.....  CJ Dunlap always came across as a very good athlete with very poor development, the younger one was athletic just not a football player.... If you could, because i really am trying to wrap my brain around this...Why wouldn't Humble be able to be a Power House?  Not saying they will be, cause that is up to the coaching staff and the kids...what are some things that you see that hinder Humble from being a power house.... The New Caney O-line has never really impressed me...now ill admit, i only watched 1 new caney game this year...While previous years i usually make it out to at least 3 or 4....I saw them this year against Lufkin...and i just didn't see a whole lot on either side of the ball that really impressed me.  Especially 2008....My God those linemen were just fatties. New Caney is going to be a better program in coming years...their best years are definitely in front of them...i can see New Caney being a 5a team again and being much more competitive in about 10 years.... They are going to get the right type of growth...the one that brings in the money and the talent...That Amusement park is the best thing that could of ever happened to New Caney, Splendora and Cleveland....the reason why New Caney has struggled so much is due to regeneration...They live in a very rural area that is kind of situated in the middle of no where with no major job opportunities...so when you have kids go through school, new families are moving in...The Families usually stay...get a whole street named after them, and live their tell they die.... With the business moving in...They will become the new Woodlands area for Houston....just not yet.
 6.
I don't disagree that Humble and Huntsville will be the teams to beat.  Don't forget about Willis.  They have a ton of athletes, and were very young this year. I do disagree that New Caney and Porter are devoid of talent.  That district has had lots of growth and will continue to grow.  They will have their struggles, but don't take either one for granted.  As Playa mentioned, the NC Soph team went 8-2 this season.  There must be some sort of talent coming up. It will be fun to see how everything plays out next season. How does K.Park fit into the mix?
K-Park will probably claim one of the playoff spots....They run a spread offense, which isn't what id run for their talent, but they have a salty defense that seems to come up with stops when they need it. They will be hurting with the loss of their RB, and having their Freshman phenom move back to Humble (Jeremy Nash)
 7.
oh yeah that was Odell. The only ones I can for sure identify are Odell, Kalief Muhammed, Darrell Bush, Mike Green, Slint Stoerner, Chad Irwin, David Boston....and that may be it.
Is it just me, but does it seem like the 90's produced some of the greatest football to ever be played in this city? I swear their were just some sick teams and talent in the 90's... I remember that game with the Ganders, Boston was pure beast. I swear i don't think i have seen a compilation of that much talent in a 3-4 year span...94-97 was epic for a ton of athletes in the Houston Area.... Odell James Kalief Muhammed Leo Mills David Boston Jermaine Alfred Ell Roberston David Givens Cedric Cormier James burnett... So much talent....

Caney Creek 7. New Caney 8. Porter I have got to tell you...i am not liking this district.   This is pretty much a run through of the worst kind.   On top of it all, Humble was unable to schedule a decent Non-District game. I am hearing...now this is through word of mouth and its been telephoned a couple times...Humble's Non-District: Not yet filled, Baytown Sterling, Pas. Dobie... Huntsville and Baytown Sterling are our strongest games on the schedule....yuck.
How could Baytown Sterling be one of your strongest games??? New Caney beat them this year and I think the New Caney sophmore team destroyed Sterling.  I think porter will finish above Summer Creek.
The day a New Caney ISD football Product beats a Humble ISD product in their first year i will give you 50 bucks. Summer Creek has a much better coaching staff and talent then Porter....
How do you know that the coaching staff at Summer Creek is better than the staff at Porter?  Porter's staff hasn't been formed. How do you know that the talent is better at Summer Creek than Porter?  Has anyone seen the Porter football team?
The Talent pool at Summer Creek was formed from Humble and Atascocita HS....Porters was derived from New Caney... Humble and Atascocita talent pool is better then New Caney....i can only follow the line of logic. Porter doesn't draw from some magical neighborhood unrealized by New Caney...its the same kids, just sent to different schools. The Summer Creek Coaching staff has a resume to boast...The Head Coach was the offensive Coordinator for North Shore for nearly 10 years...Won COUNTLESS games, and a state championship.  He has very good assistants. Porter has a brand new coaching staff that hasn't even been formulated.....SCHS already has a year of bonding with their kids. New Caney has played some horrible football for the better part of 50 years, why would i expect anything differently from porter?
I agree that Coach Ford has a solid resume.  Who wouldn't win a ton of games with the athletes at North Shore?  I know that Summer Creek split from humble and Atascocita, but what neighborhoods did it take?  Not every neighborhood in those attendance zones is loaded with athletes.  Could it be that Summer Creek might have pulled neighborhoods that are a few years from producing lots of high school talent? As far as the staffs go, having a year to "bond" doesn't necessarily make a staff good.  I've seen poor staffs have lots of time with kids, but never produce on the field. How does one quantify the quality of a staff?  Heaven forbid that the New Caney area would change over the past few years.  It would be terrible if they had a recent growth spurt, jumped to 5A, and decided to build a second high school.  No New Caney hasn't had much success in the past few years, how would Humble and Atascocita have faired in that 5A district?  Oh yeah, we are all about to find out about Atascocita. Go Spartans.  Go Eagles.  I'll pull for these underdogs!
Did you watch the North Shore Mustangs prior to 1996?...They have always had talent, but they were a whipping boy in the early 90's...Humble beat them three consecutive years i think to a total combined score of 145-0...They were pretty bad... As far as the neighborhoods that SCHS took, they took some good ones from Atascocita, and 1 or 2 from Humble...They did draw a largely Hispanic population from Humble, but they got two really good football neighborhoods in the process. The "bonding" helps the coaching staff get to know the talent, and how it can be used.  One thing that Summer Creek has that neither NC or Porter has is athletic kids...They have the athletes and coaching to win 2-3 games in their first varsity year...that being said, they are undersized. as far as New Caney goes, i have been watching football in that area for 8 years now...the area hasn't really changed.  it will in a couple of years, and perhaps then they will be able to produce better teams...with that Theme park moving in, it is going to draw a lot of development....which is great for New Caney...it will be an area similar to The Woodlands....But Porter, well...its always going to be Porter. Im not really sure why they split New Caney...it really was quite early to do so.  New Caney only had 2200 kids last year....Each school will have around 1100 kids....it was tough to find athletes to play on NC eagles sqaud as is.... D. Towers was great for yall, but he was a former Atascocita Eagle.  Chad Jackson never developed into anything, he was slow and had poor vision.  The Dunlaps were pretty good...The younger one isn't as good as the older one, but a pretty solid talent. Buddy Rios was an ok athlete... I remember Chis Smalls at LB, he was beast of an athlete...but that wasn't enough to help yall win that game with nederland.  Those are the kids that stuck out to me...and Smalls is probably the only one that i would consider Divison 1. Overall New Caney biggest problem has been the offensive line, to me they always look extremely overweight.
 11.
Really no one knows what either team will do at the Varsity Level.  It will be a first for both.  NC has had some play off teams in the past and the sophomore team (that went 8-2 beating the woodlands and others) is mostly going to Porter.  Porter may not be good, but they might.  But you cant say that Summer Creek will be good just b/c they pull from those two schools.  Look at Aldine Mcarthur.
New Caney has had some playoff teams in the past...i think 10 since 1936...Humble's had 14 playoff teams in the last 17 years, and Atascocita has had 2 in the last 6.  New Caney at one point in time was regarded as the worst football program in Texas..i this it was 40 something odd games you lost in a row......thank God Davis HS was able to abolish that streak with 80+....as well as Sam Houston High. Lets look at Aldine MacArthur...Their talent doesn't even mimic either Humble or Atascocita's talent pools....in fact, they don't even mimic the rest of their own district.  It's a school with almost 90% hispanic students, while the 3 Southern HISD high schools are all very diverse.  Hispanics generally don't come out to play football, hence their 3a like participation numbers...they had 26 varsity players last year, and at seasons end they merged the JV and varsity to form a full squad. Ill tell you this much, they are a very fiesty bunch, and they have some talent on those teams...But they really aren't very good.

Hybrid Backer- Davonta Smith (5'11 185lbs)* Hybrid Backer- Cliff Thomas (6'0 185lbs)* CB- Alphonso Harleston (6'2 190lbs)* CB- Rodney Dickey (5'11 175lbs) FS- Brison Burris (5'11 180lbs)* Note: We have 8 returning starters from last years defense returning, i only posted 7 coming back on defense because i am uncertain what they will do with DT/DE Zorell Ezell (6'2 245lbs).  Because Humble runs a 44 Split defense, the assignment of the front 4 is to Disrupt and penetrate with out much assistance from the backers (because we only run two true backers).  The nature of our defense requires two types of DT.  One that demands double teams, The other is the disruptor.  In my mind Kenny Brown is the best DT that fits the mold of the first type, and Paul Boyette the second.  DT Ezell is to light to demand a double team..Brown nearly has 100lbs on Ezell...For me it was a natural choice to go with the stronger bigger DT to take up the blockers while Boyette overwhelms the offensive line with his immense side and speed.  Both Brown and Boyette are very strong, and very fast...so they naturally make the best combo.  Ezell would be a good fit at DE...He would at times require a double team against your tackles..Because he is so quick...more attention is going to need to be addressed to him...However, Mark Armstead has played D-end his entire high school career and posses the tools to be very similar to Ezell just smaller... Ezell can also play OT, so that is a move you may see....After Brown Graduates however, it will be Ezell's show at DT with Paul Boyette playing the role as your gap control DT...of course this is all speculation on my part.

He is a better athlete then his brother, and will probably end up being bigger...His Brother was 6'2 210lbs as a Senior and ran a legit 4.5...Kyle is faster and has more worth ethic then Cody...Kid is going to be a beast. Tucker will also probably end up being the QB for the 2011 season since we lost Javelle Allen to Prosper HS.
2 things. i thought stewart was a senior. And Javelle Allen to prosper?
Stewart is a Junior...He was our biggest surprise in our last game against Nimitz... From what i understand even the coaching staff was a little bit surprised on how good this kid really is...He is incredibly fast, and with some polish will be a huge threat at SE...  I think the coaching staff will work him in more at RB as well... as far as Javelle Allen, he has transferred to Prosper HS (3a).  His father had a job offer as i understand, and he will not be with us anymore.  Which is ok, it okay...As Talented as Javelle Allen was, he was more suited for a Pro-Style offense..  Kyle Washington will offer a great set of tools for the Humble offense...the 6'3 SR to be has perhaps the strongest arm of all the QB's this past season, and is most definitely more fit to be a Spread QB.  He has a quicker release then any QB we have had start for us since Jerrod Johnson...which works to our favor since we love our Razor and Bubble screens.

 24.
In a few years , Porter will  out pace New Caney, just like Kingwood did Humble! Of Course ,the Earth Quest Adventures may change that!
Lol wut? Kingwood out paced Humble?....In Football?  When?  a blind squirrel gets a nut every once in a while. In the last 10 years Kingwood has beaten Humble 3 times. These last couple of years Humble went through a split, which obviously hurt them in the depth department...The year after the split with Atascocita...Humble lost 21-20.  The year after Humble split with Summer Creek...We lost 17-7.  4a better be ready, Cause the Wildcats are coming.  We were extremely young last year, Younger then we had been in almost 10 years....and it showed...But you better believe that a program renown for Defense while bringing back 11-12 total starters is going to make some serious noise.
 25. I hardly call it a spanking. It was a very intense game...but Humble ended up making the shots it needed to make, and the brook just missed their free throws. Humble now shares the District Championship with Kingwood. First place seed will be decided by coin flip. Congrats to Westbrook on a great year, and No. 23....a HOSS.
