  1. Sorry to have to correct you but we have won 30 consecutive district games dating back to 2003.... 2nd longest streak in 3A only behind Gilmer and one of the top 10 longest in the state among all classifications hahahah Ole WOS87 and his dang stats.... ;D Just providing a little fodder to get the H-J folk revved up so that it's not as much of a blowout as it was last year (WO-S 64, H-J 0)

  3. In regards to PNG's 4 year streak without losing a district game, WO-S passed that one up in the '80's going from Game 8 1986 through Game 9 1992 without a district loss on the field. I bring this up because the 13-14 loss to PNG in Game 10 1992 broke our district winning streak and was a great game. Others that I don't believe have been mentioned was WO-S' 10-7 upset over West Brook in 1984 ending West Brook's 16 game regular season game winning streak. BCP's shocker over defending State Champ French 35-7 in the final game of the regular season in 1985 to knock French out of playoff contention and for BCP to qualify for their one and only time. Bridge City's 20-20 tie with West Orange High in 1965 leaving both 5-0-1 in district. Bridge City won the tiebreak and advanced to the State Finals. And for the REALLY old-timers Beaumont's 14-12 win over TJ in 1958 (the ONLY win Beaumont notched over TJ in the 30 year period from 1942-1971).
  4. The biggest danger is that they will feed into their own hype and defeat themselves... I hope they don't, but I've seen WO-S do just that more times than once (most recently 2 weeks ago)... If they play like they have been playing so far I think they have a good chance to go all the way in 2A and I wish them the best! WOS, this is a true quesiton, not a throw in WOS's face, is that what has happened the past couple years in playoffs? I honestly do not know, but those are some of the most talented teams that I have seen for 3A high school and would have expected them to go to and maybe even take state. And I know the competition gets tough the further you go, but I ask out of curiosity, wanted to know your thoughts on this. Partially perhaps, but I think the biggest problem WOS has had the past 2 years was plain old bad luck. In both 2006 and 2007 we had to face a top 5 ranked team in the early rounds of the playoffs (which essentially in both cases was the equivalent of a State Semifinal-quality game -- losing to Giddings in round 2 in 2006 and losing to La Vega in round 3 in 2007). I feel that if we had made it past either of those games we would have had a very good shot of going to the State Finals both years and I also honestly think we would have had a shot against the actual D2 champs both years to win it all (Liberty Hill in '06 and Celina in '07)

  6. We're also touting our best offensive showing EVER surpassing our previous best which was back when we were 5A in 1985 Points Scored in first 5 games 2008 - 194 2007 - 105 2006 - 181 2005 - 151 2004 - 141 2003 - 110 2002 - 150 2001 - 136 2000 - 95 1999 - 142 1998 - 125 1997 - 189 1996 - 85 1995 - 169 1994 - 112 1993 - 118 1992 - 147 1991 - 94 1990 - 95 1989 - 185 1988 - 121 1987 - 116 1986 - 126 1985 - 192
  7. WO-S' defense is looking to be the best they've had since the 2000 4A State Finalists looking at points allowed over the first 5 games Points Allowed in first 5 games 2008 - 34 2007 - 43 2006 - 51 2005 - 81 2004 - 75 2003 - 61 2002 - 107 2001 - 112 2000 - 31 1999 - 24 1998 - 13
  8. Hard to say since they haven't really played any high quality opponents. They only beat Huffman by 10 points if I'm not mistaken but you do have to give them credit for shutting out 5A New Caney 30-0. We should know more whenever WO-S plays Hardin-Jefferson as that would be a common opponent. These are not in chronologic order but this is who they've played and the scores: Cleveland 69, Shepherd (0-5) 3 Cleveland 48, Bryan Rudder (0-6) 0 Cleveland 46, Liberty (0-5) 7 Cleveland 30, New Caney (1-5) 0 Cleveland 22, Hardin-Jefferson (3-3) 0 Cleveland 21, Huffman Hargrave (3-3) 11 Their opponents have a combined record of 7-27
  9. That actually averages out to 20.1666666.... which means they are tied for #50 with 20.17 as well. Brookshire Royal got the spot since they have a higher average margin of victory (which was the tiebreaker). I will gladly add Silsbee on there though
  10. The following stats include the results of all games played by all 177 current 3A teams through 10/20/08 I realize that you have to take into consideration Strength of Schedule to accurately compare such numbers but I always find them interesting to see anyway Most Average Points Scored per Game 1. 47.00 - Kennedale 2. 46.50 - Caldwell 3. 45.86 - Bridgeport 4. 44.38 - Liberty Hill 5. 43.86 - Gilmer 6. 41.71 - China Spring 7. 40.25 - Bandera 8. 39.71 - Prosper 9. 39.33 - Cleveland 10. 39.00 - Brownsboro 11. 38.86 - Kaufman 12. 38.80 - West Orange-Stark 13. 38.00 - Llano 14. 37.67 - Navasota 15. 37.50 - Cuero 16. 37.14 - Brownwood 17. 36.33 - Coldspring 18. 36.17 - Cameron Yoe 19. 36.14 - Pleasant Grove 20. 36.00 - Carthage 21. 35.86 - Wimberley 22. 35.86 - La Vernia 23. 35.43 - Nevada Community 24. 35.14 - Raymondville 25. 35.00 - Monahans 26. 35.00 - Decatur 27. 34.43 - Waco La Vega 28. 34.29 - Celina 29. 34.00 - Tyler Chapel Hill 30. 33.86 - Seminole 31. 33.86 - Diboll 32. 33.83 - Sweeny 33. 33.62 - Rockdale 34. 33.57 - Giddings 35. 32.86 - Glen Rose 36. 32.43 - Bullard 37. 32.29 - Lyford 38. 32.29 - Fort Stockton 39. 32.00 - Rio Hondo 40. 31.86 - Van Alstyne 41. 31.57 - Carrollton Ranchview 42. 31.29 - Snyder 43. 31.00 - Hondo 44. 31.00 - La Feria 45. 30.86 - Bellville 46. 30.86 - Hidalgo 47. 30.57 - Canton 48. 30.50 - Devine 49. 30.43 - Smithville 50. 30.43 - Marion Least Average Points Allowed per Game 1. 3.50 - Cleveland 2. 6.80 - West Orange-Stark 3. 12.00 - Burkburnett 4. 12.14 - China Spring 5. 12.43 - New Boston 6. 12.71 - Van 7. 12.71 - Gatesville 8. 12.71 - Sweetwater 9. 12.86 - Waco La Vega 10. 13.00 - Prosper 11. 13.29 - Smithville 12. 13.57 - Carrollton Ranchview 13. 13.86 - Monahans 14. 14.00 - Cuero 15. 14.00 - Bellville 16. 14.00 - Huffman Hargrave 17. 14.14 - Carthage 18. 15.29 - Snyder 19. 15.33 - Navasota 20. 15.86 - Celina 21. 15.86 - Argyle 22. 16.00 - Pleasant Grove 23. 16.00 - Mathis 24. 16.57 - Dalhart 25. 16.71 - Wimberley 26. 17.00 - Liberty Hill 27. 17.00 - Van Alstyne 28. 17.00 - Sealy 29. 17.00 - Vernon 30. 18.00 - Crockett 31. 18.14 - Gilmer 32. 18.33 - Sinton 33. 18.50 - FW Carter-Riverside 34. 18.57 - La Vernia 35. 18.71 - Glen Rose 36. 18.71 - Lyford 37. 18.71 - Dallas Madison 38. 18.83 - Tyler Chapel Hill 39. 18.86 - Gladewater 40. 18.86 - Pittsburg 41. 19.00 - Hondo 42. 19.57 - Taylor 43. 19.71 - Bridgeport 44. 19.83 - Columbus 45. 19.86 - Marion 46. 19.86 - Mineola 47. 20.00 - Needville 48. 20.12 - Rockdale 49. 20.14 - Sanger 50(t). 20.17 - Brookshire Royal 50(t). 20.17 - Silsbee Highest Average Margin of Victory per Game 1. 35.83 - Cleveland 2. 32.00 - West Orange-Stark 3. 29.57 - China Spring 4. 27.38 - Liberty Hill 5. 26.71 - Prosper 6. 26.15 - Bridgeport 7. 25.72 - Gilmer 8. 24.83 - Caldwell 9. 23.50 - Cuero 10. 22.34 - Navasota 11. 21.86 - Carthage 12. 21.86 - Kennedale 13. 21.57 - Waco La Vega 14. 21.14 - Monahans 15. 20.14 - Pleasant Grove 16. 19.15 - Wimberley 17. 18.43 - Celina 18. 18.00 - Carrollton Ranchview 19. 17.29 - La Vernia 20. 17.14 - Smithville 21. 16.86 - Bellville 22. 16.00 - Snyder 23. 15.17 - Tyler Chapel Hill 24. 15.14 - Llano 25. 14.86 - Van Alstyne 26. 14.86 - Burkburnett 27. 14.57 - New Boston 28. 14.29 - Van 29. 14.15 - Glen Rose 30. 14.15 - Kaufman 31. 13.58 - Lyford 32. 13.57 - Argyle 33. 13.50 - Rockdale 34. 13.34 - Cameron Yoe 35. 12.86 - Gatesville 36. 12.00 - Coldspring 37. 12.00 - Hondo 38. 11.88 - Bandera 39. 11.57 - Raymondville 40. 11.43 - Seminole 41. 11.00 - Gladewater 42. 10.67 - Sinton 43. 10.57 - Marion 44. 10.16 - Sweeny 45. 9.43 - Sweetwater 46. 9.29 - Rio Hondo 47. 8.67 - Huffman Hargrave 48. 8.43 - Brownsboro 49. 8.33 - Devine 50. 8.29 - Diboll
  11. This seems to be in danger this year. My JY Lions are 2-5 I think...... They are 0-3 in district with games remaining against Sharpstown (3-4), Reagan (2-4) and Waltrip (2-3). They pretty much will have to win all three to qualify in the top 4.

  13. Venom33, I do believe that WOS is a little better than Silsbee, but to claim that the Stangs had an off night was the reason the game was so close and not the fact that it was Silsbee that the Stangs were playing against, is really getting old. I guess these last 3 years that these two teams have played each other were close because the Mustangs just so happen to have an off night, wow what a coincidence. : I will most definitely concede that Silsbee has (almost) had West Orange-Stark's number recently but I ask you why Silsbee hasn't been able to play as well against ALL of their other opponents. When was the last time Silsbee advanced further in the playoffs than WOS?

  17. Prosper 33 Celina 0 5:20 4th Q WOW! Celina hasn't been beaten this bad since 1994 when they lost to Archer City 42-6 If Prosper scores again it will be the biggest win over Celina since Southlake Carroll's 42-0 win back in 1987 (when they were 3A)
  18. Prosper 27 Celina 0 5:50 3rd Looks like Celina is will not get win #500 all-time (they're currently at 499) tonight They also look to have a 27 game district game winning streak ending tonight
