I had just celebrated my 16th birthday but I was there... I remember being in the depths of depression when we thought we had lost and then miraculously finding out that we had actually won Interesting that Sterling made the playoffs this year. Another bit of trivia.... Paris (who prevented WO-S from winning 3 state 4A titles in 1988) qualified for the playoffs this year in 3A as district champs. Any guess when their last playoff win was? The 1988 State finals against WO-S It's not likely to happen but it sure would be great to have a rematch with them in the 3A finals this year

I'm just glad it's Ned playing them and NOT US! Although it would be nice to eventually even up the record with C.E. King (maybe one of these days)

Three of the four have WO-S losing to Gilmer in the 3rd round. Jerry has us in the finals against Liberty Hill. My prediction is WO-S over Bridgeport in the Finals

Here are the box scores for the past 12 games the Mustangs have played... WO-S has not been scored on in the 3rd quarter since the Giddings Area Round Playoff game in 2007. Coldspring had been averaging 36 points per game going into the game with us Caldwell had been averaging 41 points per game going into the game with us Gilmer is averaging 46.42 points per game and allowing 16.00 per game and has an average margin of victory of 30.42. For 2008, WO-S is averaging 44.00 pts per game, allowing 5.60 per game and has an average MOV of 38.40

Defense wins games and WO-S has the best in 3A currently only allowing an average of 5 points per game (only allowing 13 points TOTAL in the 2nd half so far this season). Gilmer and Carthage are allowing 15 per game. I don't see either of them scoring more than 3 TDs against WO-S (if that) so they will definitely have their work cut out for them since WO-S is also averaging more points scored per game than either of them as well: WO-S 45.87 points per game Gilmer 45.30 points per game Carthage 41.80 points per game

I've got right at an 85% prediction accuracy to date with these. I'm thinking if WO-S can get out of Region III, the only team they will have to worry about is Bridgeport. I will be very surprised if Liberty Hill gets by Sweetwater, Bridgeport AND Celina to make it to a 3rd straight finals.

Well for starters WO-S has won 2 state titles & is the top all-time football winning percentage in the state of Texas. I could go on and on and on but you can find most of this in the Historical section of this board. To say that Giddings was in a down year is a gross miss-statement. Granted, not as good as the 06 team but still very talented with outstanding players such as LB Alan Dock, QB Brock Fitzhenry (tu signee), and DE Spencer Duncan. WO-S fans obviously have quite a bit of pride in the program & this is a Southeast Texas football board so maybe that is why there is a little WO-S talk going on……go figure. We are proud of our program as I’m sure y’all are as well down “their†in Coldsprings. I wouldnt say you have the all time winning percentage in the state of texas..Must you forget about your neighbor to the north...Newton Eagles..they have 3 state titles..I believe Coach Barbay and the Newton Eagles has the title of the top all time winning percentage in the state of texas!!! Sorry to have to contradict you on this one... With Yates losing to Sharpstown this past weekend they are now 0-4 in district play (1-5 for the season). Even if they win their two final games against Waltrip and Reagan the best they could hope for would be a tie for 4th place in 21-4A with Austin (who beat them 7-6 earlier this season) That should move Corpus Christi Callallen to the top of the list in terms of consecutive playoff appearances as they have pretty much already qualified for their 24th consecutive appearance this year dating back to 1985.
