  1. Thanks, and there is so much more to come. Don't forget about the second tryout date on August 30th, same times as last tryouts. Hopefully we will be outside where we can see more talent in a game like atmosphere.
  2. A lot of your questions about who is coaching what teams and what classification we will be playing will be answered after tryouts have concluded.
  3. Just a clarification note: Golden Triangle Baseball, Hitter's Inc. will run slect teams from 7 - 14 years of age out of Hitter's Inc. under the tryout system. Our 15-18 year olds(GT Baseball) which is headed up by Chris Fackler will be a prospect only organization (which means players will be hand picked). These teams are based out of Chris Fackler's facility in Bridge City (between subway and firestation). If you have any questions feel free to pm or email at [email protected]. Sam Moore
  4. Congrats Harvey, ( great guy and great coach). He also loves recruiting the golden triangle area.
  5. This is Sam Moore, and I would like to make it PERFECTLY CLEAR that I have never taken credit for anyone's program success. That is not fair to the coaches that put countless hours in preparing their kids to be better ball players and to become a better team. All I do is provide a service for kids wanting to go that extra mile to become a better player. So be fair and give the credit where it belongs with the Coaches of these great programs (LCM, PNG, Nederland, BC, Silsbee, WB, etc). In closing, I would like to say that for the posters PLEASE keep my name out of the forums, and give credit to the coaches that continue to win year in and year out. Sam Moore Zone Baseball Academy
  6. Swingbuilder, maybe my terminology is a little different but I understand exactly what you are talking about. I agree with the forward momentum into the swing. I am definately ok with our hitters back foot moving forward or even coming off the ground at contact. I have seen pictures of Hank Aaron doing this. I will continue to watch the Big League guys, and continue to listen to what Don has to say about hitting. I also respect your take as well.
  7. Swingbuilder, I do appreciate the rebuttal of how I broke down the swing. I will give you the credit, it does now look as if the positive move forward is making the hands get in launch position. But i will stick to my assessment that Big League hitters get into toe touch with a closed front foot and hip closed (the athletic position), then as they rotate on the backside they firm up the front leg . Maybe I am wrong but I compare my hitters to Big league hitters everyday. As far as the extension goes, I watch ARod, Manny Ramirez, Albert Pujols, etc. and they have that good extension all the way through the contact zone. It was great that you had the luxury of knowing the result beforehand. My comment of his extension was merely about the frame or frames that might have been missing or I missed. My look at Aaron's swing was being compared to the swings i see on my Rightview Program of Don Slaught's. Sorry if my assessment does not match up to yours. As I said early just my two cents worth. In closing I will like to say that how people view the swing could be interperted different ways. Two weeks ago I spent time with two of the most knowlegable baseball men in the world today and we were talking about hitting. And they too disagreed on cetain parts of the swing. Go figure.
  8. This is just my two cents worth. I think Aaron does a tremendous job of getting separation between his stride moving forward and his hands going back at the same time. To me it looks as if he leaks a little with his front foot landing causing him to prematurely open up too soon with his hips. He goes down to the ball very well and his hand path with the hands leading is good. He rotates against the front leg very well giving him the leverage he needs. He may have missed one frame of extension through contact (maybe just finished a bit early). That is my opinion of the swing.
  9. I have had the opportunity to see VJ on two occasions and he has made some defensive plays that would have been web gems. He shows great range with an above average arm. He also hits well and runs well. This kid in my opinion will be a D1 player one day. In fairness to Murphy, Ferguson, and Riley, I have not had the opportunity to see play yet. If I was a betting man (and I am) I would have to put VJ in the same league with those mention above if not better.
  10. The match up between BC/LCM makes perfect sense especially if they play it at Lamar. The intensity this game will bring would have a positive effect for both clubs. And playing on a big field makes perfect sense. BC needs the competition b/c of the way they demolished their district opponents. JMHO

  12. There are many ways to teach pitching. In our facility it is not only the weighted balls but the proper warmup, the tubing exercises, the med ball throws, etc. It is a program that we insitll in our athletes. We have a cycle we work through with equal emphasis on velocity, accuracy, and movement. Not one area is superior to the other. As far as throwing weighted balls, you have to come watch our program. We throw weighted balls from about 10 -15 feet max. Our program has been very successful the past 3 years. As far as Tommy John goes, not one of our pitchers have had TJ due to weighted balls. The above post was correct in saying Haymon and Blacksher's surgery was pre weighted ball. They threw the weighted balls after surgery, and Derick Cloeren never had surgery. His younger brother did and no known reason for having the surgery was ever determine. Did weighted balls cause it, did overthrowing at a young age cause it, did throwing a lot of curve balls cause it, who knows. It is a fact that there are numerous TJ surgeries to pitchers who have never ever thrown weighted balls. I would be more concerned with select teams that take these High School kids all over the country and throw them practically every day just to win tournaments so they look good. Maybe the people pointing the fingers need to look in the mirror. If you ever want to come over and watch our 90 minute workout, please feel free to stop by The Zone in Orange, Texas. Sam Moore
