  1. As any IndyCar fan in general, I think Helio will get it done tomorrow. As an Helio fan, I think he can do it tomorrow. The stars seem to aligned for him. Who is everyone else's Indy picks?
  2. Congratulations to Woodville. Awesome season Lionettes. Y'all rocked all season and just came up a little short.
  3. Danica Patrick wins Indy Japan 300 MOTEGI, Japan (AP)—Danica Patrick became the first female winner in IndyCar history Sunday, taking the Indy Japan 300 after the top contenders were forced to pit for fuel in the final laps. Patrick finished 5.8594 seconds ahead of pole-sitter Helio Castroneves on the 1.5-mile Twin Ring Motegi oval after leader Scott Dixon pitted with five laps left and Dan Wheldon and Tony Kanaan came in a lap later. “It’s a long time coming. Finally,†Patrick said. “I was managing to save fuel and keep the speed up and when I saw Helio I knew he was the one to beat.†The 26-year-old Patrick won in her 50th career IndyCar start. “Thank you to Andretti Green. Thanks to my teammates,†she said. Dixon took the lead from Castroneves on the 93rd lap in the race rescheduled for Sunday because of wet track conditions Saturday, but gave up the spot to pit for fuel. “We led for a lot of laps but came up short,†Dixon said. “But congratulations to Danica for her first victory.†Patrick, who started from the third row and made her final pit stop on lap 148, stayed close to the leaders throughout the 200-lap race. “I knew there was a good reason for coming to Japan,†Patrick said. “I want to thank my team, the fans and everyone who supported me.†Dixon was third, followed by Wheldon and Kanaan. Patrick finished a career-best seventh in the season standings last year, and was second in the race at Detroit’s Belle Isle. At the 2005 Indy 500, she nearly won the pole and became the first female driver to lead the race en route to a fourth-place finish. It was the best finish by a woman at Indy, and helped her take rookie of the year honors. Congratulations Danica. You're truely an inspiration for young girls who want to race.
  4. It's been a little hard for my mom, a huge DJ fan, to see him retire. She's starting to realize that she cannot pick Dale to win.
  5. Robby's sponser has his back. They sent a letter to NASCAR and came up with "Rally for Robby" T-shirts for the fans to wear this weekend. Also, his new "teammates" from Gillett Evernham, Elliott Sadler and Kasey Kahne (not sure about Carpentier; he's just trying to make his first race of '08) have said they support Robby as well.
  6. #7 team penalized for Daytona infraction: NASCAR has issued penalties and fines to the #7 team that competes in the Sprint Cup Series, as a result of rule infractions found during Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway. The #7 Dodge driven and owned by Robby Gordon was found to be in violation of Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-Q (car, car parts, components and/or equipment used do not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20-3.10A (unapproved front bumper cover) of the 2008 NASCAR rule book. The violations were found during opening day inspection for the Daytona 500 on Feb. 8. As a result, Gordon has been penalized 100 championship driver and owner points. Crew chief Frank Kerr has been fined $100,000, suspended for the next six Sprint Cup Series events until April 9 and placed on probation until Dec. 31, 2008.(NASCAR PR) My opinion? As a Robby fan (I like him because he creates excitement), I think this penalty is a little too harsh. It wasn't even his fault; GEM accidently sent him the wrong nose.
  7. Yes. I came on here to check on how the Lions were doing and nothing.
  8. GEM opts for triple-sponsor approach for No. 19 Dodge By Sporting News Wire Service January 28, 2008 01:37 PM EST While it's becoming more common for a racecar to feature two primary sponsors -- what's called co-primaries -- Gillett Evernham Motorsports' No. 19 Dodge will have what it's calling tri-mary sponsors this year with Best Buy, Stanley Tools and McDonald's sharing the cost of a primary sponsorship. "In our mind, it's the evolution of dealing with multiple partners for a team," said David Jessey, vice president of sales and development for Gillett Evernham Motorsports. "With costs escalating, only a few sponsors are going to be able to afford the whole season." Some primary sponsorships have risen as high as $20 million a year, depending on the marquee value of the driver and the assets involved. Jessey admits that a tri-mary model is more challenging because the look of the car might be changing each week, but Gillett Evernham Motorsports is trying to make sure each sponsor has an identity with the No. 19 car, including equal representation on the hauler and other visuals. Best Buy and McDonald's are also sponsors of the Montreal Canadiens, which, like Gillett Evernham Motorsports, is owned by George Gillett. In fact, it was during a Canadiens game last month, with all three sponsors sitting together, that they agreed to partner on a tri-mary deal. Stanley is investigating a sponsorship with the Canadiens, Jessey said, as well as a business-to-business relationship with Gillett's collection of 32 auto dealerships. "I don't think sponsors are coming into the sport as primaries any more," said Alex Gillett, George's son and a co-owner. "There's more of a process where they dip their toe in the water. A tri-mary is a marrying of sponsors and they may grow or they may not. We're happy to do a tri-mary, but we hope to show them enough value to move them on up." I think the coupon I get with my Sadler Fan Club membership kit will really come in handy. "I'm dreaming of a victory. For Sadler. In the year 2008."
  9. It was probably mostly Hendrick and Roush complaining. They will whine about anything. Of all of the cars I would like to see run second to a Toyota (preferably a MWR, Hall of Fame, or BDR machine), I want them to beat a Roush Fenway car.
  10. I think they can win in 2008. Would like to see DJ get one more before he hangs up his helmet.
  11. Yay. Love listening to DJ's commentary during the races. It's very refreshing.
  12. Lawsuit Planned Against NASCAR Driver In Miami Kahne Accused Of Assaulting Security Guard At Homestead-Miami Speedway POSTED: 11:43 am EST December 17, 2007 MIAMI -- A Miami law firm announced its plans Monday to file a lawsuit against a NASCAR driver accused of assaulting a 62-year-old security guard at the Homestead-Miami Speedway last month. Russell Dohan, an attorney with Goldberg & Dohan, said the lawsuit against NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne would be filed Monday in Miami. Kahne, 27, is charged with one count of battery against Archibald Hutchison, who was working as a security guard at the speedway for a race Nov. 16 when the incident allegedly occurred. According to a Homestead police report, Kahne was attempting to access a restricted recreational vehicle parking lot on a golf cart after he finished driving his racecar when Hutchison stopped him and asked him for credentials. Kahne stated that he was a driver and didn't need any, then got out of the golf cart and tried to walk through the gate, the report stated. When Hutchison blocked the entrance and asked Kahne for credentials again, Kahne pushed Hutchison to the ground, according to the report. The report said Kahne was stopped and detained by law enforcement officers who witnessed the incident. He was arrested later that day and released on the signed condition that he appears in court. Hutchison, who was advised not to let any unauthorized people through gate 208 without exception, was treated at the speedway's medical facility for minor bruises and abrasions, according to the report. Dohan said Hutchison hasn't been able to return to work because of his injuries. Dohan said his client has suffered emotionally from the incident and is "getting killed" by NASCAR fans on Web site blogs. He also said he planned to have his client speak with the media about the lawsuit at a news conference planned for Tuesday. Isn't he suppose to be the one at GEM that stays out of trouble?
  13. Uh. Kountze is gonna whoop up on Jasper! There. I've made my prediction.
  14. I was very proud to hear the Lions won last night. Even though he's out for the season, Chad Morrison is still smiling (at least he was when I interviewed him for the school paper (I got to interview the homecoming king and I'll just let y'all guess who he was)). He told me he's doing well. He's a great guy.
