Kountze 82 Deweyville 30

The Lionettes finished up district tonight at 11-1. The girls worked hard on playing well tonight. They passed and moved the ball around well. There was definitely good teamwork tonight - Hargraves 17 Johnson 14 Stanford 13 Deaver 12. Great job! Deweyville did not just lay down eventhough the score may not show it - they had great hustle and never gave up. Following their big upset earlier in the week - the team did a great job of pulling together and working as a team again! Keep up the good work and good luck in the playoffs Lionettes.

I do appreciate Mike and channel 6...they seem to do a better job at covering girls athletics than most. I have a daughter..and son....and love friday nite football more than most....but when the girls are on the court its nice for them to be recognized now and then. Thanks for what we DO get...and help us to recognize them more if possible!

ok...now i'm going to say this...and then leave it alone...I have the utmost respect for Hardin players, fans, and especially their coaches. I have always said they were a class act. Last year...when they were loaded with senior talent like Balch and the gang...they won in volleyball, basketball, and softball. Its just a new year-and their talent pool isnt quite what it useed to be. On the other hand-Kountze is finally loaded again...as for the score...there was nothing more the coach could do...without jepordising the way he coaches his team. He playued his starters for only 2-3 minutes of the 3rd...and almost NO time in the fourth. for my money...that was mercy. dont remember Buna fans raising such a fuss after that game!!!! ease up on the girls-they deserve their success!

Kountze girls played hard tonight. They had a great assist game with some beautiful teamwork. They played very well defensively not giving up any points until 2nd Qtr. Johnson 22 Hargraves 18 Stanford 9 Young 10 Deaver only had 6, the threes would not fall tonight! Way to go Lionettes making a perfect 10-0 district record!

Have any of you girl's sports followers experienced what I have tonight? We were winning 70 to 12 putting us at 10-0 in district when I saw that there were 3 news station's (not to be named - but all three local channels) camera men standing on the sidelines with their cameras. Do you think they even as much as picked up their cameras to report on our girls team - NO - they stood and waited for our boys team to WARM UP????? What is up with that? While I support our boys team and am proud of their past state championships, I'm also proud of our girls whom I believe have proved that they have game and should get some form of recognition for that. I just don't understand why girls sports never get the same recognition as boys! Can anyone help me understand that?

Stats for Kountze/Warren game: Deaver-29 pts Hargraves-17 pts Johnson-14 pts. Stanford-11 pts great hussle tonight-good team effort-moved and passed the ball very well! Johnson BIG on the boards and scrappy getting to the ball. Hargraves handles the ball with smooth style-but aggressive to the bucket. Stanford and Deaver good on the 3's and good job by all hitting the open shot! You ALL make us proud to back the Lionettes!

Kountze girls passed well tonight with some great assists and worked well as a team.  The 2nd string girls played very well too.  They came in for at least half the game and played excellent defense.  Top scorers ended up Deaver 20 Hargraves 19.  Way to go Lionettes!
