In their defense... FB Marshall is a straight track speed team and if you don’t have speed on the field to combat that you will probably lose to them. Manvel is decent and so is willoridge. But they shouldn’t be getting blown out. PNG at home should probably handle this one.

It’s looking like Garth will not play on Friday. This would be the 3rd straight game he has missed. Big blow to the PNG o-line.

This Mcm in my opinion is one of the tougher ones to predict in recent years. Could go either way.

this PNG team is also banged up. Haven't had a running back to keep next to Roschon for most of the season. (not that a healthy running back would take carries away from RJ)....

College Station (10-2) vs. Port Neches-Groves (10-1), 1 p.m. Saturday at Humble’s Turner Stadium There will be lots of purple at Turner Stadium for this third-round rematch from a 2016 playoff game won by College Station. The Cougars needed a second-half rally last week to knock off a tough Georgetown squad, 34-31. QB Marquez Perez was the difference tallying 425 yards of offense and four total touchdowns. The Cougars’ defense has all eyes on PNG junior QB Roschon Johsnon. The Texas-commit has put up staggering numbers all year long to lead the Indians. Last week however, Texas City had a good game plan to slow the PNG attack as although Johnson ran for 193 yards and a touchdown, he only threw for 67 yards in a 24-17 win. PNG has the best player on the field in Johnson, but College Station has multiple playmakers and good speed on the defensive side of the ball. Unless Johnson just goes nuts like he did in bi-district, I expect College Station to pull away in a high scoring affair. Not sure how much of that was the return teams fault. All of those kicks were well placed in my opinion. There was a previous kickoff in that game where #13 and #8 got tangled up with the ball. Small fault to the return team but just better kicking.

Port Neches-Groves (8-0, 7-0) at Nederland (6-2, 5-2) Port-Neches Groves and its high-powered offense will look to cap off a perfect regular season with a win at arch-rival Nederland in what DCTF calls the state’s most intense rivalry. In fact, it’s so intense it has not one but two nicknames, Mid-County Madness and the Bum Phillips Bowl. The Indians offense, led by quarterback Roschon Johnson, hasn’t scored less than 42 points in a single game all year. Last week the defense also was elite as PNG rolled past Beaumont Ozen, 48-0. Ozen only managed 97 yards of offense, while Johnson threw for 284 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another score in the lopsided victory. Nederland’s playoff status is still a bit up in the air. The Bulldogs are in outright with an upset win, but a loss possibly throws the team into a three-way tie with Vidor and Beaumont Central. NHS took care of business last week knocking off Lumberton 41-31 as Devon Simmons led an offense that rolled up over 500 yards of offense rushing for 248 yards and two scores. Nederland’s defense, especially late last week, showed some vulnerability and that’s a bit out of character as this group held powerful Port Arthur Memorial to just 13 points. It’ll need a similar effort to stay in the game this week as PNG has the kind of offense that can simply overwhelm you. It’s a rivalry game and some major upsets and strange things have happened in the past. Undefeated district champs is no longer in the back of the Indians minds, it’s within their grasp. Nederland trying to play spoiler. PNG is clearly the better team but MCM always plays out differently than expected. And to make it more interesting... it’s in Nederland. Hopefully a good one coming Friday.

Holding the Indians to under 40 point is very tough. PNG normally adapts well to non Friday games. Jags offense will score some points also. I’ll take Port Neches. They were my pick before the season to win this district. Png 48 Jags 28

The vidor offense always gives PNG trouble early, with that being said, PNG always settles down after a few possessions of seeing that Vidor offense. In the end I think PNG and the RJ led offense will be too much. Give me PNG. PNG 56 Vidor 28
