There's speculation that these politicians that make ~$170,000 per year end up being worth millions may be funneling this money to NGO's and right back into these politician's pockets. Nothing in this article concerns life or death. If farmers were needing USAID, then they'll have to retool their operation. USAID was created in 1961: What did these farmers do before this? Trump has said if anything at USAID is absolutely necessary, it'll be rolled into, I believe, the State Department. If the concern was people losing their jobs, well, they'll just have to go out in the private sector and find another one. Just like people do all the time.
