1. you are dead wrong here.

most of the transfers to CO have been for athletics.

'fraid you're the ostrich ;D

Anyone who would make a blanket statement that the middle schools are the problem with Nederland's football program obviously isn't very well acquainted with Jack Lynch.
You're correct...I'm not acquainted with Jack Lynch. No idea who that even is?! Don't really care as I'm obviously not talking about him  ;)

Your budding superstars at Central may have had bad experiences, but your initial statement about both schoolsis just wrong.  It is not a coaching problem at Central it is an overall talent problem. I totally disagree, the player talent is what got the 1st win against CO in 10 years last year!! There actually is A LOT of talent at Central it's just not utilized by the coaches. And I later made an implication as to what middle school I was referring to anyways.

C.O. traditionally has more of the better athletes.
That's probably a true statement BUT... from here on out that's mostly because of transfers too, because parents and kids from the CMS district don't WANT to play for CMS!!! Take a look at how many transfers were approved in the last 2 years!!! It is enough to open anyone's eyes!! Get a clue?!

As long as both middle schools are teaching the fundamentals of Neumann's system and replenishing the ranks in high school the middle school coaches at both schools are doing their jobs.

Smiley, you're either an ostrich or an idiot.

C.O. traditionally has more talent.  Plain and simple.  That's not the case every year, but traditionally it has been.  By the way, I think you answered your own question when you said that Central beat C.O. for the first time in ten years.  Some of the more affluent neighborhoods are on that side of town and more of those parents make the investment in their kids at a young age as far as time and opportunities.  Because of that, more of those kids have developed athletically by the time they are in middle school than what you have at Central.

The number of transfers has very little to do with athletics.  Most of the transfers are more for, shall I say, demographic reasons, than for sports.  Right or wrong there are some parents that don't want their kids going to Central for various reasons, none of which have anything to do with athletics.  Now, I am not saying that never occurs, but it is rare.  (On a related note, anyone that would transfer their kid for athletic reasons in middle school ought to have their head examined.)

At the end of the day, none of the wins and losses in middle school have anything to do with what happens on Friday nights as long as kids are taught the system and remain interested.

I don't know about the best defense in SE Texas, but maybe the best Defensive Coordinator in SE Texas.
Look at his very, very, impressive resume:

Nelson Barnes will return as defensive line coach and will serve as defensive coordinator. The 51-year-old Alvin native has 25 years of coaching experience, including varsity defensive stops at four Big 12 schools -- Texas, Nebraska, Kansas State and most recently for three years at Oklahoma State.

That is very impressive, especially for a High School Defensive Coordinator.  No doubt he has seen a lot in the Big 12 and has been a part of a lot of schemes to stop Big 12 teams.  I think he was the D-Line coach at Texas, and he has had some good D-linemen to work with at Texas.

I agree, that Memorial has always had the talent, but they needed the right Head Coach and Coaching Staff.  However, Memorial has lost some talent over the last couple of years due to the hurricanes.  After Katrina, Rita, and especially Ike, several players moved and attended PNG and mostly Nederland.  Even with the loss of those players they have still had talent, but you include those players and they would have been a much better team with more depth.

It's too early to say who has the best D in SE Texas, after only 1 game. Let's see after about week 5 or 6.  However, looking at the Titans defensive personnel, and talent, I would have to put them at, or very near, the top.

When did Barnes coach at Texas? ??? ???

I forgot to mention, you do not get things resolved on message board. I am not offering a solution and I am critizing the league. I listened to whiners for 8 years. If you really want things addressed and meaningful go to your board. Your board should keep you informed of the changes and rules. There is always going to kids that mature faster than others, thats just the way it is. Some of the best players I have seen never came close to being overweight or close to the weight limit.

I really wished the back and forth would have stopped.  Trying to compare classes is really impossible to do.  Since my two sons have attended NHS there was not single year except Jordan's Freshman year of basketball that a class had all but one of it's players stay at the freshman level.  Josh Dean, Jordan, Jude Vidrine, and Trey Terracina never played a complete season together until their Junior year.  Jordan and Josh never played freshman baseball.  Jude and Trey only played freshman half a season.  That's a variable you can't control.  My other son's class has provided starters and relief pitching for last year's Regional Finalist in baseball and are waiting to see how far they go this year maybe 254 and will return most of the starters for next year except outfield. ;D  That class provided most of the players on the 2010 Area Finalist basketball team as well.(That basketball team was the first to have Brian English for a full four years a variable you can't control)  Anthony Babino, Trevin Sonnier, and Stephen Schlett never played freshman baseball and Jacob and Tyler Smith split time between JV and Freshman.  That class never all played together.  Jacob is the first player since the fifties to be able to say he was an active player on the District Champs in both basketball and baseball at the Varsity level.  My point to saying all of this is that there are always too many variables(who the coach is...players moved up...injury issues..etc) to simply try to compare classes.  When you get to high school the classes intermix and become one team the BULLDOGS!  There is no I in team!  Once again I am excited about the past, present, and future of Bulldog Athletics!  So be part of the team and enjoy the ride, the present and future are bright, or change the screenname to BulldogFreshmanBacker only. ;)  I know you support us it's just a joke.

Have you heard Nederland's Varsity has a game tonight.....there are no more underclass games so this thread is dead...Everyone needs to move on and enjoy the playoffs.

no where in this thread mentioned varsity teams,,,, good or bad... until AH cool hand luke, et al, got involed.

this was all about sub varsity.

I guess thats what makes me an idiot...assuming that the subject would not end up on varsity teams. ???

BTW Nederlands freshman class lost 1 game in footbal, 2 games in basketball, and 1 game in baseball ;D

anyone dare to compare with any other class, past or present?

Subject re-hijacked back to sub varsity.

Please stop this, I'm sure Allstar....MOM would agree, she just didn't know the CORRECT designation of each team. She has a sophomore, who plays on the JV... so when folks talk about Nederland's sophomore team, made up of FRESHMAN... it confuses things... since they have beat the PNG Soph. team made up of freshman.  She wants to ensure that folks know that the PNG JV team made up of Sophs and Juniors have beaten the Nederland JV team, made up of mostly sophs.... hope this clears it all up.
no one from Nederland is confused........nuff said  ;D ;D
9.
he is referring to the sophmore team, not JV...Nederland's sophmores have beaten everyone (including PNG) with the exception of West Brook's JV team
Sure hope my posts are not confusing.... esp since they start with Sophs    ??? ???
