Prayers from your friends at Kirbyville.  Coach Barbay was one of a kind.  When he was approached by the East Texas Pee Wee Football League about getting permission to hold games on Newton's field, his response about pee wee football coming to Newton, "Its about time.  Let me know what I can do for the kids."  I will never forget his desire to help the beginners learn about the game of football.  He will truly be missed.  A few years ago, one of his players died in an accident the fall after he graduated.  Coach brought most of the team to the funeral, showing to me his love of his players.  I hope all of SE Texas pays a fitting tribute to the man, the coach, the friend, THE LEGEND.

Any gift should be received with a grateful heart.  It doesn't matter how much money the donor makes, it is the gift in itself that counts.  After all, most large corporation do not give to small, local organizations.  I am very impressed that such a large company donated to our little part of the world.  When people get on here and complain about the size of the gift, it makes SETexas look bad.  Be thankful, and more  and larger donation may come in.  Remember, you never know who is reading the posts on this site.

After all the success at Newton, should anyone be suprised by the turnaround after the KV game??  Maybe KV woke up a sleeping giant.  Maybe the current players realized that you don't win just because you are Newton, you win because you perform well.  Good luck Eagles!!!!

As for the rest of us, it sure puts things in perspective.  If you have children, hug them often, praise them more, and make sure they know Jesus.  We never know when our time will come.  Again, my prayers are with the family of Mr. Garrett.

In this districts format, aren't the top 2 teams the only ones to go to playoffs?  I thought this was one of the changes when 2A went to D1 and D2 districts.

Should be a good game ..................... for Kirbyville.  I see the Cats winning by at least 21.

How long did it take Coach Mixson to reach this milestone?  It doesn't seem that long since he came to jasper.

Not much of a chance of KV bringing in anybody to help.  Our coaches seem to get upset when players get help away from them.  Saw this with my on eyes a while back. Of course, if struggles keep on, anything could  happen.

I guess the time never change at KV..  Lots of players have quit.  I think Lane knows his stuff, but for some reason he really has a hard time dealing with players who get help away from his oversight.  One should never let pride get in the way of common sense.  There is always someone out there who knows more than you.

Kirbyville

Apparently LR1969 didn't see Pilot Points line.  250 would have been small on that team.

He should do just fine in 3A.  The competition will definitely be tougher this fall, but no any tougher than some of the playoff teams (Arp, Pilot Point) that he had great games against.  Look forward to seeing him this fall.....

Thats a pretty tough predistrict schedule.  Should be 4-1 or 5-0 after that.  Remember, Kirbyville played several of these teams last year, and only 2 loses, one against Jasper and the other a 1 point loss in overtime to WOS.  KV returns most of that team, and looks to be stronger that last year.  GOOD LUCK CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
