  1. Are you kidding me. Simmons was outstanding no doubt, but they had two other pitchers that could hold their own against any team. Lefty, Jamie Holmes and Russell Delome could throw just as hard as Robert Simmons and probably had better control. Then there was Stan DuBose and Joe Hawthorn in the middle (a double play machine). Tracy Franklin at third, Randy Moss catching and batting over 500 in district. Every last kid on that team was a player. Somebody call Mike Rogers and asked him!!!!
  2. I am sure all the teams mentioned above deserve SOME accolades, but I think y'all might want to speak to some of the old school Buna Cougar fans when trying to determine the best Cougar team ever. I think the team that paved the way for all the future Cougar baseball teams was the 1984 team. This team was district champs, bi-district champ, and area champs losing the regional game to Hudson by 1 run with a late inning homer. The bating order for this team was incredible. Every player on this team could hit the ball out of the park and did at one time or another. Here are some of the players on that team and I will apologize in advance if I leave someone out. I will go out on a limb and say that this team would have beat any of the other teams mentioned in this thread!!!! Russell Delome Robert Simmons Joe Hawthorn Stan DuBose Randy Moss Jamie Holmes Tracy Franklin Byron Johnson Malcomb Patrick Mark McMahon Bubba Whitehead Gary Harris Billy Brown David Ratcliff
  3. Need to go back a few years A-town. THe 1983-84 cougars were about the best to come out of Buna.
  4. PNG looked a lot sharper than OF did, but in their defense they were only able to get together once before the playing. Also PNG's DB's and LB's were very physical with the receivers coming off the ball, disrupting the routes. This is meant as a complament to those guys. would like to see OF get that physical. However, OF did some good things and Statum will continue to gain confidence at QB the more he gets to play.
  5. He is only a soph and all the big time football schools (U.T., A&M, LSU, Alabama ect...) are impressive to anyone especially a 16 year old kid. One thing he will have to look out for is those empty promises that will be made by some of these schools as he grows as gains experience as a player. I did not realize this was Byron's kid. I played with him (Byron) in high school and he is a great guy. So, the advantage Jeremy has is that his old man will keep him on the straight and narrow and put anyone on the road that does not have the best intentions for his son!!!! Byron if you read this I was # 31 and blocked for you out of the backfield when you were a jr.
  6. you know BCtreasurer I've been pretty nice to you but now you are showing how ignorant you are about football. Go tell BC coaching staff that's all Orangefield has coming back. I hope they believe you. ......and yes BC put up 35 points on Orangefield and it still wasn't enough. In the 4th quarter everyone got playing time. ......and you are asking if OF was 2-8.. Yes we were and yall were 0-10 so what are you trying to say?
  7. BCtreasurer, I wouldn't expect you to feel any other way about your team. I hope BC is better next season, because quite frankly they were horrible last year. I would like to see them win a couple of district games to mix things up. But, they have a tremendous amount of improving to do. I don't think that I have dwelt on last season but I am smart enough to know that just because you can toss a tire or run an obstacle course or sent 20 kids to the State Power lifting meet or beat a team in 7 on 7 format does not mean you have improved your football game.
  8. Is this what you are talking about. Events Include: Tire Toss, Gator Push, Farmers Walk, Team Tug-O-War, Stone Stacking, Harness War, Tire Flip, Obstacle Course Yeah I can see how all these events relate to football. Don't get me wrong competition is a good thing but don't kid yourself these events have nothing to do with the way someone plays football,,,
  9. Apparently you don't think OF has much fight in them. I mean you pick your Orange county neighbors 6th. OOh well I will say this, where ever OF finishes it will be in front of BC.
  10. Okay cardinal4life, whats your point? I said that in an earlier post. BC freshmen won in the last seconds of the game. Its gonna be a good game everytime these two teams meet
  11. Who's arguing I am just stating facts, and fact is that BC can send as many kids as they want to the State Powerlifting meet, that's great and I congratulate those kids but they still got to put the pads on and execute. I would be willing to beat that BC sent more kids to the State powerlifting meet last year too and we know that outcome. As far as 7 on 7 goes, do you really think that how well you do against a team in this format will determine how well you do against the same team in a REAL FOOTBALL GAME? I don't think so. Don't kid yourself into thinking that BC is the only team working hard to prepare for the upcoming season. I was typing this as you were responding freddy. My thoughts exactly!!
  12. But they were out of the groove for an even longer period of time. Like you said in another thread (BC 2008 Schedule) keep over looking us. My "little Cats" will be ready. What makes you think that BC's underclassmen are working harder than OF's underclassmen. I promise you it will be a war even without Granger, Green and Helton
  13. OF JV got beat by BC Freshman last year so I do not see alot of help coming from the underclassmen The teams were combined it wasn't just the BC freshman and it was a good game. Go to the games instead of letting someone tell you about it. Besides OF freshman beat the BC freshman when they were in the 8th grade and would have beat them again had it not been for a fluke play as time was running out. OF varsity beat BC Varsity like a drum so I wouldn't expect alot help for the BC JV players moving up next season either.
  14. That's what I like to see, underestimate Orangefield, it always happens. OF has alot of talent coming up from the JV as well as the Freshman group. No doubt it will be an interesting year. I gonna go with: WOS OF Silsbee
  15. Why would you congratulate someone that you don't respect. Make up your mind. You say you have no respect for OF then you congratulate the players. How wishy washy can you be?
  16. Oh NO!!! What will OF do now that they lost the respect of the see all, know all glbembassador. What an idiot!!!
  17. For those of you that thinks, for whatever reason, that one play, or one call, etc.... or one anything doesn't make a difference in a game, I will try and make it very simple for you. If the knuckleheaded, racist ref did not call a tech on OF's bench for celebrating after a VICTORY with the PHATOM 1 second on the clock then who wins the game. I will tell you "ORANGEFIELD"!!!!!! If you think that was a fair call on the Orangefield girls, after they fought back so valiantly to WIN the game then you are an "IDIOT". One call can and did make a difference. One bad, fictitious, moronic call by a worthless racist cost OF girls their dream season!!!!! Wasn't going to saying anything on this thread but got tired of BS comments by some (I said some not all) posters on this thread.
  18. Orangefield 7th grade girls. They play extremely well as a team. The future is bright.
  19. OF 7th grade girls win district, going undefeated for the season. Great job girls, and congratulations on this fine accomplishment!!!
  20. I apolgize pseuda, I am a fan of a 7th grade girls team that has won several games, some of which have been by alot of points. I know that our coach will only press until we are 20 points ahead and then we go to something else. This group of girls press very well and usually get a steal which will result in points. After speaking to others I don't think you are talking aobut our team. We will not press just to run the score up.
  21. Isn't the full court press part of the game too, and shouldn't it be taught and utilized early on in game situation? Otherwise, how will you the girls learn to do it well. I don't think a team should ever play DOWN to the level of their opponents. Always play your best. In the words of coach Bill Belichick, "Its not a team job to keep from scoring, its the opponents job to stop them", or something like that.
  22. Does anyone know the if the HJ junior high girls won against Jasper Thursday? If so, what was the score?
  23. you got it Bullets13, a dedicated parent, who writes down the scores after every game. Not hard to do.... add'em up and divide by 12.... ;D
  24. Coach27, the score against Jasper was 41-36. Sounds closer than it really was. These young girls are very impressive and have been playing together for a long time, thanks to Little Dribblers. They look down court on fast breaks better than a lot of older teams and pass the ball extremely well. Its fun to watch little girls play that well.
  25. Orangefield 7th A - 42 HF - 9 OF 8A - 20 HF - 27 sorry I didn't get the B team score. OF's 7A team is 12-0, they have out scored their opponents 541-142, great job girls keep working hard. Y'all are very fun to watch.
