  1. After last nights game in Deweyville, I would have to say EC defense is the best OVERALL. Other teams seem to have their strong points, but I did not see a weak link in the EC team.Their secondary is fast and physical. Their front line is solid, and their linebackers look like pit bulls.

  2. Deweyville was not wore down. Every single player played with heart and intensity throughout the entire game...we played hard with a top 20 team (sounds to me like you are more of a baseball man) :-\

Your right about the outstanding effort that Deweyville put out friday night, In my oppinion some players had the game of their life ie.(Heath) and everyone played an intense game,;but, When a team like Deweyville dresses out 19 players, and all but a few have to play both ways against a top rate physical team like EC , you can't help but start to get physicaly spent after awhile. I'ts not a slam on Deweyville players, it wouldn't matter what team had to play both ways for a whole game. This is where being a bigger school, with more players like EC has the advantage. But this may all change next year with re-alignment?
  3. Congrats Hardin on a well planned, well executed game. I don't see anyone in this district able to shut down that spead offense, except MAYBE East Chambers.I played agaist Marsh's dad, and he was good, but his son is something to watch in the open field!Stelly had a good game, but my hat's off to the O line, They are big and well coached. good luck Hornets.

  4. Deweyville class of 80-present

If I could field a team from all past players it would look something like this. Probably some players before my time better than some of these, but I'll go back as far as I can remember.

    QB- Tiger Shoemake

    RB- Mark Burks/Zane Williams

    RB/slot- Keith & Kenneth Bean

    WR-Trey Craft/Prentice Burks

    TE-Tracy Moss/Mark Richards

Line- Leroy Turner/ Lanny Gibson/ Jimmy Hallaman/ Scott Taylor/ Dalton Estes

  5. I think every area had strong teams through-out the years, and like wise weaker teams. I can remember some really good teams in 80-82, then a little of a lull, and again in 85-86, strong teams. Then in 90's a year or two strong and a lull. Seems like a cycle, not neccesarily according to years i.e. 80's 90's or today. We had extreemly fast JV team in 83 with at least 7 running under 4.9 and two in the 4.3 range, so speed has always been there. Kids today seem a little bigger, early on, could be something to do with diet? I definatly believe the better teams of 80's could hang with better teams of today.

  6. they never won a state championship with him as the coach thier first was last year.

You can take a team to a State Championship game, and not win state.

Anyway, I agree with most folks that Lucky has a Big problem and hope he can work it out. With that said, no one said you had to be a good person all the time to be a GREAT high school football coach. He is currently # 14 on the all time Texas High school football records list With 267 wins 69 losses and 5 ties, and he is only 57 years old, thats quite an accomplishment. And as for the DEADLY WEAPON he was carrying when he was arrested, it was a pick ax handle in the back of his truck!

  7. Man, I can't believe that. Coach Gamble took Deweyville to thier first two Bi-district play-off games back in 80 and 82. He was much younger back then, I think only in second or third year of coaching, and although I was only in the seventh grade, I remember him as a real tough guy and would work you to death in the weight room, and on the field. He went on to coach @ Little Cypress (where I think he got into some trouble) and then had a long spell @ Alto, and took them to several state championships.

  8. Man, from what I've been reading, Hardin is a different ball team from last year. I don't remember their JV being that strong, so they must have had one heck of an off season to improve this much in one year.If they are for real, and as good as everyone saying, then you have to give hats off for one heck off a turn around in one season. Can't wait to see this one. This may very well be for the third play-off spot, as Buna And East Chambers look tough.I still have to go with the Pirates in a close one though; 20-19.

  9. I think these two teams will match up really close. And ball control will win the game. I think Deweyvilles defence is good, even though they have not played a real tough opponent. Vinton had a real good QB with lots of speed and good moves and they contained him pretty well. Only problem is most of these players go both ways, so they have to keep their D off the field and make long sustained drives. I have to go with Deweyville down to the wire in this one. Deweyville 20 Hardin 19
