  1. I agree, the OL had a very nice game. Look out for this group of Mustangs!
  2. Cardenas had a nice game (as to be expected 1st team All-State) however the DB from WO-S played well against him most of the evening. A miscue by two of the DB's for WO-S allowed Cardenas to score early, but that was pretty much it... Both teams will improve, and YES; as WO-S improves, watch out!
  3. A very sound performance by an excellent young Mustang football team. They kids got down early 7-0 on a miscue by the DB, but other than that... it was all Mustangs, all night long! Great job!

  6. Predication's are nice and all, but the kids still have to play the game, and the coaches still have to instruct their ball players properly to have a successful out-come. However things turn out this Friday; I'm just happy to renew this long time rivalry once again! Go 'Stangs!
  7. Opponents Against Whom WO-S Has the Best Showing Most games lost vs. WO-S 1. 23 - Nederland (6-23-0) 2. 22 - Little Cypress-Mauriceville (2-22-0) 3. 19 - Port Arthur Lincoln (1-19-1) 4. 18 - Bridge City (0-18-0) 5. 17 - Jasper (5-17-0) 6. 17 - Port Neches-Groves (6-17-0) 7. 15 - Vidor (7-15-0) 8. 13 - Silsbee (2-13-0) 9. 9 - Beaumont-Charlton-Pollard (0-9-0) 10. 9 - Beaumont Central (3-9-0) 11. 9 - Port Arthur Jefferson (7-9-1) Source: www.TexasHSFootball.com Historical records like this don't lie folks... WO-S has Big Ned's number. Go 'Stangs!
  8. Including Monday, we've got 5 good days of sunshine on the field. Believe me, after a good sun-soaking and a little field dressing by the excellent maintenance crew over there in Nederland, there won't be any excuses come game time. It's all good football fans!
  9. Great interview. Lots of mutual respect regarding two of the better Southeast Texas high school football traditions! Should be an awesome contest this Friday night!
  10. I agree whole heartily. Mr. Mathernewill be missed dearly. The O-line has some work to do, but I am looking forward to seeing who's gonna step it up and become another Mustang legend(s).
  11. Nice read. Good luck to you Mr. Isadore. You can't go wrong with any of those colleges. Just go somewhere where you'll receive a 1st class education and an opportunity to play football.
  12. The O-line is struggling somewhat, that’s been witnessed… However, the proper adjustments will be made and are being made as we speak. Conditioning plays a big part as we all know. You can be taught the offensive line assignments and have them down to a T, but when the fourth quarter rolls around and fatigue sets in; we've got to be the team who has the better conditioned athletes. That'll come... The squad may not be in tip top shape by week 0, but certainly by district. Hooks and Coach T will make sure of that. Heck, another good week of practice and things will start clicking for the O-line and D-line respectively by this Friday. Just as soon as they get a couple of their stud D-linemen back, the O-line will be fine too. Blocking assignments become a little harder when you have to play every single down on both sides of the ball. Those guys are gonna be just fine.
  13. As mentioned earlier, the depth will come from the JV squad as the season progresses. Coming from a close inside source, the JV gives the Varsity a run for their money week in week out at practice. The future is extremely bright in Mustang Land for the next several seasons. Don’t fret all you naysayer’s, it’s going to be a very fine season, just you wait and see.
  14. To all you Mustang fans that witnessed tonight’s scrimmage... that's all it was, a scrimmage. This is a really talented and dedicated squad. They'll be ready when it counts. They are finding themselves and acclimating themselves with one another. As a former player, it’s so difficult to get fired up about a scrimmage, particularly when you‘re still struggling to get your 2nd wind. Come week 0, it's an entirely different ball-game. Good luck to all of the guys on the team.
  15. Yeah, the parking there... not so good. There's parking along the street on the stadium side, and Wells Fargo. Other parking on the campus side where there aren't any bleachers. Should be ok for a scrimmage.
  16. You're correct about the drainage and the quality of the field overall. There's an interesting story behind that old field and stadium. The Stark’s went all out regarding the design of the field. Its play rivals any natural grass field in the country. I'll work on the details of how that field was originally assembled and what went into the construction.
