  1. On the three games against on one opponent idea....once coached in a 6 team district that did that very thing. But, not in your proposed set up. Played each team once then moved to same opponent on Tuesday and Friday. Was kind of an interesting way to go about it. Started district play on a Tuesday which allowed us all out final tournament that same week. Then 2 weeks of single games before the same opponent in a week.
  2. Games during the week and total games. Three tournaments and 17 total games. 8 team diarist would mean 7 opponents. At 3 games each (21) you would only be allowed 1 tournament. The replacement for a single tournament is the allowance of 3 games. Again I like some of the ideas proposed and would have no real strong objection to any, however there is government uh uh I mean a governing body that makes some of the ideas impossible to achieve.
  3. UIL game limit all but kills your 3 game a week district series. I love the thought, but the game limit makes it practically impossible. Which again brings me back to the problem of so many games in a tournament playoff format. Again, I like the ideas you have, but just not sure how doable with the restrictions prior to that point.
  4. Looks like in 3A if your school has a quality football squad, you might just have a quality baseball squad.
  5. Are you like me and dislike the first few weeks when the MAC is still in non-conference games and the Tuesday games have to wait a few weeks? I wish some FCS conference would take the Wednesday night slot or some network produce an FCS game of the week on Wednesdays. Give me sports!!! That's one reason I am a baseball nut. Months of games every night! Sure you hoops fans like that as well.
  6. I agree, BUT and a strong BUT I would much rather watch a meaningless game around Christmas on a Monday-Friday during the day than anything else on the "idiot box." Give me Tulsa vs. Western Michigan in front of 12,000 (reported) from a soccer stadium at noon on a Tuesday over normal day time television.
  7. Incomprehensible? Funny, but spell the big word correctly. Come on man. Now if you did it on purpose and I missed and inside joke...my bad.
  8. I like your thoughts on this. However, a team would have to play 5 games to win a tournament if you lose in your 1st or 2nd game. College regionals can get pretty ugly when teams can scratch a win to force that 5th game. High school could get even worse. Again, I like the thought but it gets concerning when you think about it more in depth. Even the team that took its first loss in game 4 would be pitching kids that likely have only had bullpen sessions once district started. If the UIL didn't have the damn game limit so low it might would be different. Teams could play non-district games on Saturdays and those kids could see mound time. If that was allowed then your scenario would be even stronger to argue. Just thoughts...
  9. Credit for this one. Well played.
  10. The last state championship game I attended at AT&T was 2010. Sat at least 1 level above field level in a fairly comfortable cushioned seat. I think most if not all seats are cushioned at AT&T, although not positive. With that stated, I would love to have the opportunity of a short trip to NRG, BUT have no desire to sit through several games on those plastic seats. If I ever planned to attend most or all games, I would willingly accept the drive to AT&T vs 9 plus hours on plastic. Yes, I am taking in to consideration walking around between games and half times as it is about an 11 hour day. Any thoughts on seat comfort from those that have sat through several games in a row at AT&T and NRG??? Television broadcast leaves the one site as the most feasible set up and a likely scenario of smaller schools not being televised if several sites were utilized. So, as much as some If you may wish for coaches to determine sites, that is likely a moot point.
  11. Once had a student teacher at an elementary school for physical education and his mentor (the actual teacher) was the head coach at a high school over 15 miles away. Yes, the HEAD basketball coach of a HISD school wasn't on campus as a teacher. Needless to say, his team was not very good, but did NOT place last in the district.
  12. Interesting way to do this....one calendar year plus vs one school calendar year.
  13. My response was not about football. It was about you as a person. Of that, I have a clue. Have the last word. I have things to accomplish while you accomplish claiming others achievements as your own. Don't need to have no? Don't need to have any! Work on the grammar, "teacher."
  14. You are a hole surrounded by butt, sir. Why in the hell did you just attack an entire board? Oh and your grammar is atrocious for an "educator." Double negative king you are. Good gosh.
  15. Playing the 3rd quarter on one end of the field. Not good.
  16. Feminist coming!! Lol. You're pushing it.
  17. Anybody channel surfing? Just an interesting thing. South Dakota State vs Montana State FCS playoff has light cover of snow and 6 degrees. Coldest game ever played in Brookings. 🥶
  18. His interview at half pretty much confirmed that. He did the "media thing" well, but he ain't happy.
  19. One impressive thing...Desoto kids don't get on to each other with all the false starts. NEXT Play. Leave the butt chewing to the coaches.
  20. How fun would a back to back at the most central site possible be for the semifinals on a Saturday for at least the top 2 classes? I know it's pie in the sky thoughts, but not much to discuss with the present game.
  21. Don't see it ever happening, but it would be nice to a seeding set up after regionals. Superintendents would likely never even have it offered to be voted on, but sure would be nice. YES, I realize even the seeding issue would cause arguments, all kinds of issues with travel, and a multititude of things I can't think of that would be reasonable opposition. However, don't tell me Bally Sports wouldn't love a 1 or 2 hour show like the BCS reveal. Charlie B. might even find a way to get a raise out of it.
  22. They may or may not. However, something few state on here if ever. Many parents will "shop" schools and simply move to a town for sports without any recruiting taking place. If they keep their mouth shut and don't say or put anything on social media as to why....BAM quality athlete shows up. You have a crew in WOS worried about this very thing.
  23. 79 playoff games coached. Anyone know the record? Assume Danaher is way up on the list, if not the one on top.
