I am confused with the conversations on here: practice, indoor facilities, giving jobs to recruit players, basketball, and baseball. What will we talk about next, soccer perhaps? We are 3 days away from a big football game and there is not very many valid points that prove why you think that Silsbee wins. You are too caught up on thinking that Carthage just feels like they are better and look down on Silsbee. U-Know was right when he stated "On Friday night, when you look across the field, you will see, stands full of your average hard working middle class families. People who work hard day in and day out to provide for their families." I am proud to be from Carthage and be a part of a good football run the last 6 years or so, Carthage people have not always had good teams to watch but have always been supportive. We all know that it's more fun to follow a winning team and tend to complain when things are not going our way. As I have said before, this will be a game played by 2 teams that have earned the right to be here  and have a chance of winning this game. I have no doubt that Silsbee will have some success and play hard, they are a very fast and aggressive team. I just have to support Carthage and believe that what progress they have made every week, they will come out on top on Friday night. Go Dawgs!

Silsbee has my respect that they have earned this year. Carthage did not look that good at the beginning of the season and I figured they would get knocked out the 1st or 2nd round. They proved me wrong and we are deep in the playoffs again. I hope the fans all have safe travels, see everyone at the game. Go Dawgs!

I was expecting to read some football talk and not talk about the weather and indoor practice facilities,it's sad that we live in such a soft society. It would not be very sensible to have a team practice indoors when it is supposed to be in the 40's at kickoff on Friday. Both teams needs to tighten up the chin straps and get ready for a hard hitting football game, I would not expect anything less from these 2 teams. Go Dawgs!

I agree. Silsbee will be practicing outside all week. I was only stating that Silsbee does have access to an indoor facility if it was necessary and wouldn't be at a disadvantage to Carthage as for as getting practices in this week.

Stanley's BBQ has very good BBQ and is close to the stadium, if you are going to attend Friday night's game in Tyler.

Silsbee won the only previous meeting in series history.
The Tigers beat Carthage 43-21 in a 1998 Class 4A Division II Region III area playoff that ended the career of Bulldog career rushing leader Kris Briggs.

You mentioned a past beat down and it appears that we returned the favor in 2013. Silsbee is not going to be taken lightly, Silsbee beat a good El Campo team that knocked us out of the playoffs in 2012 and 2014. I am also a Carthage alumni from the Class of '86 and will try my best to be the loudest fan on the Carthage side, as I look forward to a good game. I was amped up when we went against the #1 defending state Champions Navasota team, and I will be as equally as pumped up for this game. As far as Carthage fans living and dying around high school sports, we are in the playoffs and we are excited for our team. We are not like some areas that only have one team that we follow, My son and I made the trip to Cowboys Stadium and watched Gilmer and Navasota win their state games since I truly enjoy watching football games. Smoaky is open to anyone just like SETX, I came on here supporting Carthage. Arrogance and confidence have similar qualities that are easily confused with one another. Carthage fans are confident since we have been fortunate enough to earn the state title 4 in years past. Is Carthage unbeatable? No, that is why the games are played every week until a champion is crowned. If Carthage loses, I will be on Smoaky and SETX congratulating Silsbee. I welcome you to also join the conversation on Smoaky and support your team. There will be no excuses from me if Carthage loses, we unfortunately have lost in the playoffs before. Go Dawgs!!
 
 

Silsbee has earned respect by beating El Campo and making it to the quarter finals, I look forward to supporting the Dawgs on Friday. To all the fans complaining about the drive to the game, true fans find a way to make it to the big games. Carthage's O and D line will dominate and win, I expect a good game just like last week. Navasota was 28 and 0 and defending state champions, we were able to win a great game. You will see that coaching will be the difference on Friday night, Carthage wins by 14.
