  1. Sealy having a "high powered" offense was what some were saying about Sealy and their big RB. I never agreed that they had a high powered offense.

Navasota went through the first few years after Fedora came to Navasota having a high powered offense with no defense. We made it to 6 consecutive quarterfinals before finally getting into the semifinals. We finally had a defense!!

How many points do you expect Navasota to hold Jasper to?

  2. So did Sealy since you they are the only team with a winning record on the Rattlers' schedule. 7 pts is all that they could muster up and that was on an off night offensively for Navasota. Yes, Sealy's D had something to do with that.

To put it in perspective, this is how Sealy faired versus other "top" programs: Final (DCTF Rankings)

    St. Pius X (9-2) - Loss 45-14; Losses to Stafford 13-10 & St Thomas 49-19, BEAT El Campo 42-17

Wharton (8-3) Loss 22-21; Losses to El Campo, 28-17, Stafford, 27-20, and Bellville 39-27- Plays WO-S

    #10 Bellville (9-2) Loss 28-14; Losses to Stafford (11-0) 40-15 & Giddings 28-26- Plays Hamshire-Fannett

    #8 Giddings (11-0) Loss 38-35; Plays Orangefield

Now that we got that out the way, let's talk about Jasper's Defense. The Bulldogs gave up 42 to Vidor in a loss, 47 to Bridge City, 28 to Hargrave, 59 to Silsbee. Heck, even 21 to Splendora.

One can't help wonder how many the Rattlers will score? That should be the million dollar question instead of your claim of Jasper's "High Power Offense". Navasota will show you exactly what a high powered offense looks like. If I haven't learned anything, I've learned that it takes a heck of a defense to win championships. A good offense makes it a lot easier, lol.

I'll be honest with you Navasota will probably score on almost every possession offensively. Our defense is questionable and pretty small.

  3. No way Jasper scores that many on Navasota.  This reminds me of last season.. Jasper scoring all those points on Henderson. Navasota allowed 14 to Henderson. Our defense is just as stout as last year and the offense is better if you can believe that.

im assuming you've never seen Jaspers qb play?

  4. Navasota will shut Jasper out if we rely on Tiger on the ground for everything.  We need to seriously look for some plays over the top to loosen up the corners so that when Tiger goes he will have the space to do it.

I completely agree. Good news for Jasper is that we have a 6'6 TE who's going D1 and is very good pass catching TE and we have some very fast wr's that can get by the secondary. Jasper has all the tools on offense to make this an exciting game. Defense is the only thing i worry about especially against a team as good as Navasota

  5. Don't let their schedule fool you.  They will be more than ready for Jasper.  I thought the same thing two or so years ago when I watched one of their district games.    I was very wrong then.  This year, I am pulling for a huge upset, but will wait until I see it done to celebrate.

Jasper hasn't had an offense this good in a very long time. I think this time it will be a very different matchup

  6. At first i wasn't very confident that jasper could even stand a chance against Navasota but after looking on Maxpreps navasota has only played 1 or 2 decent teams all season. Jaspers offense can score on almost any team in 4a and as long as they can run the ball with Tiger williams they will control the clock for most of the game. Im still not predicting a upset but i think the game will be fairly close, i have Navasota winning 42-35.
