Kempner 2- png 0 end 2
-
Wow silent bats Friday night. But sure came out Saturday. On to Kempner
-
How do they matchup with Laporte? BH vs manvel, Ned/Crosby 3rd vs Santa Fe, Ned/Crosby 4th vs friendswood.
-
Nothing is going to change unless they move away from base 3-4 defense, by all means keep few plays in that formation, but it doesn’t fit the kids png puts out. Some kind of hybrid 4-3 would suit them better, or I would go to like a 4-2-5 scheme with that 5th db being like a s/lb hybrid. Where he plays more of a lb on more run oriented teams or s for extra coverage on like spread teams that tends to pass more. Also playing players both ways is not the answer. Playing a couple players both ways in certain situations is good but not the answer to improving a defense

Can watch for free at kxan.com on kbo tv. Nice stream

if SF pulls the upset over PNG, TC loses to BH, KWP beats Dayton. Who gets the 4 seed since PNG, KWP, TC would all be tied. Also knowing PNG smashed KWP, TC smashed PNG, KWP beat TC by 7

PNG facing Santa Fe next week with their chances to make/miss the playoffs is a saving grace. A TC upset of BH is unlikely, therefore causing the District more than likely to end up :
1st- Crosby
2nd- Nederland
3rd- Barbers Hill
4th- PNG
... unfortunately for PNG though is FB Marshall will be their Rd. 1 opponent. Lol
Crazy thing is if TC upsets BH. TC goes in as 3 and BH gets the 4 and date with FB Marshall. Between Crosby/Ned who would you rather play? Houston sterling or the loser of FB willowridge/Galena park. I’d rather win and go to bottom bracket with FB Marshall instead lose and be top half bracket with Texas High and Huntsville

My suggestion is that you don’t have to have them go both ways. But my all means please get rid of this crappy defensive 3-4 scheme. Go to multiple d with base of like 4-4 or if you worried about the spread that much go to a base of 4-2-5. ALSO BRING BACK LIVE TACKLING DRILLS IN PRACTICE AND SHOTGUN ALLEY

Wasn’t there more than one Gohlke boys that played @ PNG? Feel like I remember multiple through the years of MCM.
Yes you’re right. After you said something I thought about it. Wasn’t Derek that was the safety that year. It was Chris, the older brother. Sadly passed away a few years ago. Derek I think was a pretty good rb if I remember right

Right - - in all fairness to the new DC, I'm rooting for him, and hope he is able to pull it together next year. No one starts out as great as they will be. So hopefully they'll figure things out. It does seem all the size goes to the offensive line though. And someone needs to teach PNG how to open-field tackle. I even went back watched the video from PNG vs. Stephenville in the 1999 state championship and the open-field tackling with that (great) defense was abysmal (setting aside that Stephenville's QB was an athletic freak) in that game. A lot of feet planted and hand grabbing. We tackled the same against Crosby. I acknowledge that defense is harder than offense, and everyone from the pros down to peewee is struggling with containing modern offenses. But at a minimum I'd like to see clean, one-on-one open field tackles when a player has that opportunity.
Don’t forget to mention to who that stephenville coach was to really start a conversation who out coached Burnett. No other than Art Briles. That star qb was Kendall Briles which is the OC at Arkansas. PNG also that year had one of the greatest defensive player in their history at S in the late Derek Gohlke, which basically won the game with that hit against Lamarque. He put fear into those cougars. I’d take that penalty every time if one these current players did that

Just out of curiosity, how does seeding work in this district if their is a 3 way tie for 1st-3rd. Since basically all 4 spots are basically clinched barring unforseen upsets
-
I looked up the stats for that game. Jenkins was held to 23 carries for 95 yds and they had a pretty good qb that year too . RJ had like 250 yds rushing and 250 passing. Also made a statement 2nd play of the game when he broke a 70 yd td run.

Guy on SDC said Lindale 56-3. Told him to quit drinking that clear junk out of them mason jars - Vidor ain’t much on Field Goals. 😂
I can almost remember them saying the same thing last time they faced a setx 2 years ago at nrg. How did that turn out for them? But then again was almost laughable watching them try to stop Roschon.

What faircloth needs to do is change his defensive scheme from a base 34 defense to a 43 base or 4-4 and then sprinkle in 3-4 plays . Every year he’s been there the defensive scheme is what the problem is not the dc. Png players are not a great personnel to have a base 3-4 defense. Burnett tried it once and the spread offense the 2001 season. Was trying to copy stephenville. Complete failure and finally scrapped and went back to what worked. Burnett would have had even more success in his years at head coach if changed o scheme and quit being so predictable after coach long left

Houston Austin also dropping so add them to that district I predicted
-
Montgomery, lake creek, a&m consolidated, Bryan rudder, Huntsville, Brennan, pflugerville connally, and the leander school that is dropping. Can't remember if it's rouse or not
-
TC, png, ned, lc, sf, lumberton, kp , gp something like that in one district. bh, Crosby, fbm, willowridge, Dayton, hou sterling , northside, sharpstown in another.
-
I wouldn't doubt uil pulling something crazy like splitting png and nederland possibly lumberton away from bh, crosby and dayton and becoming bidistrict foes. Something like texas city, png, nederland, Lamar consolidated, lumberton, galena park, kingwood park. With the others forming a district with the fort bends and the other Houston schools left in d2 .milby and Madison going d1. Sulphur Springs replaces lindale in the east texas district. Possibly move someone like Brenham with Huntsville and others in that district
