4th place is pretty much suiting up for a one -sided track meet first round.
-
I know of a couple coaches who would love to be in Baytown! Baytown is a great place for people who appreciate it.

I have a good friend that coached there up until last year. He told me this would happen exactly how it's happening. The dropping enrollment coupled with the demographic shift has caused the number in athletics to fall considerably. Not to sound ugly.. but a lot of those kids don't play football around here (SeTx).
Take all of the Hispanic kids out of all these programs since they are an "issue" and see if you can field a full on team and scout team during practice.

Final 45-14Kpark
Sad times for GP. The honest truth is that there is talent around there, but there is nobody on staff in tune with the small African-American community in GP. Those kids constantly are getting poached early, but nobody around seems to care. So it will be like this until they decide to bring in guys who know the area who are actually involved in those communities.

so none of those four teams play defense??
It's all offense in D2 Region 3 lol

It was OT but they still gave up 51 on defense too. I actually think A&M Con. has looked the best in the region so far but we’ll get a better gauge against Huntsville this week.
I went to the game and pretty much it was OT without a true QB, top receiver was out and just had surgery, another slot receiver was in a boot. Barnett, who was the QB and has world class speed is now a receiver. I agree, 51 PTS is a lot. but everyone knows speed kills. I remember two years ago when Crosby had all those D-1 kids who were track guys also, couldn't catch up to some of Marshalls players. I think in the end it will be either Consolidated, Crosby, Manvel or Marshall representing region 3. Any one of those has the best chance.

Sounds like that’s all they needed
It just makes me imagine what can happen now that their whole playbook is open

Devon Achane ,a Jr who scored 7 tds in beating Manvel, must now take a back seat to this Jr.transfer.Some just wish for one qb, Marshall is loaded. We wonder why kids transfer.
He is a RB/Slot for them. They literally ran a wildcat offense all night on Manvel. Ran the ball 99% of the time. No passing threat whatsoever. Achane threw a jumpball in overtime which got them down the 1 yard line. that's pretty much it in the passing game.

Fort Bend Marshall QB/ transfer from HISD Austin Malik Hornsby has been cleared to play by UIL!

Let's Go Lee!

I think GCM will start out 1-0 in district. Bounce back coming off the bye week.
Austin will be on their 4th QB. Hornsby is at Marshall, the 300lb DT they were going to play at QB transferred back to Soho, the other QB got hurt VS Sterling. I heard they are making a receiver into a QB and hoping he can out athlete GCM. Austin RB is freaking good ( Hispanic Kid), but that O-line has no clue who to block half the time.

Lee will score 35.
GP defense is pretty dang good. Those kids fly and hit hard. The weakness is their offense. I think its a good game and decided in the 4th quarter.

Both programs seem the be having better luck this year than the past few years. Any opinions on this one?

That was a good GP group. There were some others as well with McGaffie and then the one with those twin DE's.
Yeah that was a great group. It was like a perfect storm of classes hitting at once. The year GP beat Dayton was Mcgaffie's freshman year when he made that miraculous catch at receiver. That was a heck of a game. GP just seems to have dried up with versatile athletes since 2010, even with good coaches there.

I watched most of the game vs Westbury. Lee has some athletes no doubt. Westbury is also that bad. I think Lee pulls it out 35-28.
I figured Westbury would be bad. What is crazy is that Lee has a chance to potentially be 3-0 when district starts. Westbury, Splendora and Galena Park are all winnable games for them. We know it isn't a tough non-district but those kids at Lee need something to feel good about.

Bet they wont bring 35 players and less fans. It's sad that HISD is in such bad shape. Feel for those kids.
I feel for the kids. But that's how the district wants it to be. I was told that a group of HISD head coaches were meeting all spring to try and force changes, and were met with resistance and the phrase " that's just how we do things in HISD, if you don't like it then leave"

Dayton has things going in the right direction, don't anticipate them getting derailed by GP.
I agree. Just hadn't heard much chatter on the game. Dayton looks like they are back on the rise! GP needs the ex players kids from the mid 2000s to reach HS age. Still many years away.
-
Who do you have in this game? I'm not sure how good Lee is this year or how bad Westbury was. I think the Lee backfield can be scary good, however the trenches are not as big. I still see Lee winning 35-21. Any Thoughts?
-
I know not many people probably care about this game. Just hope GP can put on a good game. They haven't beat Dayton since 2004, and are definitely not as good as that team was. Any Thoughts?

You do realize HISD Austin lost their qb ? A buddy of mine works there and said their freshman class has disappeared since the head coach resigned. They will have only 6-7 coaches and will start a 300lb DT at QB. tough sledding

Ah thats right, Good Ol Boy Gooden hired his buddy. Same theory regardless, come to GCCISD and get that pension up boys!
The Good Ol' Boys system doesn't seem like it's going anywhere. I know a few young coaches who desire to be head coaches in Baytown for the long haul. A couple of them started there and left. But it just seems like it's the same system all over Houston area.

I dont know much about Porter, Kingwood Park or New Caney but we will compete the next 2 years.
HISD austin has followed the mold of other HISD schools and has "acquired" good talent the last couple of years. They almost beat G Ball in the first round and have an amazing QB that nobody knows about. The head coach is known for his acquisition of talent over his career. Not a typical HISD team.

They did not do that. They were already planning on playing Vidor first round and a possible 2nd round against Marshall. All the stars would have had to align perfectly for KPark to get in for the PNG / Crosby matchup, and it did.
I agree with you, It was sarcasm. People overlook vidor for some odd reason, but heck Marshall second round or PNG first round you still have work cut out for you.
-
I heard people saying they threw the game to avoid Marshall lol. Yeah like PNG is better reward. It will be a great game to watch with lots of offense.

Galena Park defense is still playing hard and pretty physical. Just no real team speed. Their offense is always 3 and out or leaves them bad field position vs. Good Teams. May be a 7-0 game since both offenses have a hard time moving the ball
