5. Ok Dad, I'm going to go ahead and call you out for being weak and not bragging enough. 5-11,  7 rbi's,  5 runs, and 1 HR.  Price had a pretty decent weekend for a freshman.  ;D
 6. #7 Texas(2-1) took the first 2 games of the series with Duke by the scores of 4-0 and 5-3.  Duke won game 3 today by a score of 5-3. Nederland's Kirby Bellow started the first 2 games at 1st base and was 1-7 at the plate.  Kirby pitched the 9th in Game 3 allowing 2 runs(0 earned) on 1 hit.  OF's Jacob Felts started all 3 games behind the plate.  He was 0-8 in the series and is still looking for his 1st hit on the year.
 7. #5 Texas A&M(3-0) started off the year with an impressive 3 game sweep of Illinois-Chicago. OF's Jace Statum started game 2 and went 0-2 with a BB and rbi.  2011 Big 12 POY Tyler Naquin picked up where he left off going 7-12 with 8 runs scored in 3 games. The Ags pitched staff looked great throwing 2 shutouts and only allowing 2 runs in the 3 game series.  All of the reviews of the new park are great, hopefully I can make it to some games this year. I will try to keep up with A&M and Texas baseball on here this year.  If Basebow can update TCU and GCMPats can do Houston that would be great.
 8.
Nederland's ex player Andrew Williamson got his 1st collegiate hit this week. He hit a stand up triple and scored a run. Shanna and I are so proud of him.
Congrats Andrew!  This young man is proof that with hard work and a never quit attitude anything is possible.
 9. Good deal!  Glad to see Nederland jump in and give everyone an extra game.
 10. Jeremy Lin drops 38 on Kobe and continues his hot streak since he was named a starter 4 games ago.  He is probably the hottest player in the league right now. Good job by the Rockets cutting him earlier this year. [Hidden Content]

 14. He moves pretty well for being that big and he's only a jr.  Soulja, did you get a dunk count on that video?  ;D [Hidden Content]
 15.
Not if a team is loaded with hitters who are hitting that good pitching..... You can't win a game 0-0.  Someone has to score.  If the pitchers are that good, someone has to hit, right?  No BB, no HBP which marks good pitching.
The best game I've ever been a part of was LCM-Nederland Regional Final at Lamar in 1997.  Jesse Floyd beat Beau Hale 1-0 on a passed ball to advance us to State.  I didn't think anyone would ever score the way those 2 guys were dealing that night.
 16.
This is simple.  Put the best 9 players on the field.  Players who hit and solid in the field should play, whether or not who they are. Other schools may take leftovers from Big Ned who are not getting their time on field, good is good and the best should play. Silly not to......
It was 4-1 Nederland when I left.  Both teams will be solid, just a little rusty. I wouldnt want to be in Coach Robbins shoes, he has some tough decisions to make with that roster.  They have some very good ball players that won't make the starting lineup.

I never suggested that they shouldn't put the best 9 on the field, but Nederland has 15 or 16 kids that would start on most teams in the area.  Not a bad problem to have at all, just not that easy to make out a lineup with all of that talent.
 17. Raines also looked very good on the mound striking out the side.  He may be Nederland's #2 if Duplant can't play.
 18.
What inning?
It was around the 7th when I left.  The scoreboard was off so I'm guessing.
It's 3-1 Ned in the 5th or 6th.  A lot of walks maybe 3 hits combined.  These bats make a HUGE difference.
Are they having to use a different kind of bats or something?
Yes, they have to use BBCOR bats this year which are supposed to mimic wood bats.  They used them in college last year and the offensive numbers dropped dramatically.  Look for lots of small ball this year and not many homeruns.

 22. Lamoine looked good in his 1 inning with 4k's.  90+ on the FB on his 6'4" frame will get pro scouts attention. Brett Brown went 1.2 striking out all 5 batters.  His curve is one of the best I've seen.  Both aces look to be in midseason form.
 23. Scrimmage tonight at 6pm.
 24. Texas won 70-68.  I guess no one cares and neither will do much in the tourney if they even make it.
