Syracuse makes a big come back and is lucky not to be the first ever 1 seed to lose in the 1st round and screw up a lot of brackets. All of the favorites have won so far, but there is still a lot of basketball to be played.

I'm posted up on the couch ready to watch some basketball!! Anyone predicting some upsets on the first day?
[Hidden Content] Mike Reinold: Current Coordinator of Rehabilitation Research & Education at Massachusetts General Hospital, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Division of Sports Medicine Rehabilitation Coordinator / Assistant Athletic Trainer at Boston Red Sox Past Facility Director / Coordinator of Rehabilitation Research & Education at Champion Sports Medicine Coordinator of Rehabilitation Research & Education at HealthSouth Education: MGH Institute of Health Professions Northeastern University
A lot of this has to do with select baseball. When most of us grew up, we play Little League with maybe 12 league games a year plus a few allstar games. So kids maybe played 15-20 games a year then on to football, basketball, or whatever other sport we were playing in the offseason. Now kids specialize in baseball at a young age, playing select year round with some teams playing over 100 games a year. That brings up the great Select baseball debate. Do you make your son sit out some tournaments and risk him getting passed up by others or let him play year round and risk having Tommy John by the time he is 16?

Name your district starting pitchers
PhatMack19 replied to PhatMack19's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads

With district starting, most teams will go to a 2 man starting rotation with a few others coming in for relief. It's hard to judge a teams by tournaments that have their #7 pitcher getting shelled and taking the loss. Usually the teams with the top 2 pitchers win district. 20-4a Nederland- Brown & Fontenot LCM- Carline & Fultz PNG- Graham & Nelson or Ashworth?? Vidor- Peno & Fregia?? Livingston- Lantrip & Moore?? Lumberton- ?? Central- ?? Ozen- ??
Big Ned has PNG at home Friday nite.
For Vidor I expect Peno. Possibly Fregia, or John Boy. No doubt we will see Brown unless Ned. Has LCm or PNG Friday.

Brett Brown has been pitching the midweek games, so I would assume he would get the start against Vidor with Fontenot getting the ball Friday against PNG.

Loyola won game 1 today by a score of 1-0. UT had 5 hits in the game. Texas took game 2, 3-1. UT once again only had 5 hits, but they actually scored a few runs this time. -

Cal State Fullerton scored in the 11th to win the continuation of game 2. CSF won game 3 by a score of 4-3 to take the series. It was a pretty competitive series with one of the better programs in the country. -
Lamar vs Vermont play in game! Winner gets NC
PhatMack19 replied to PhatMack19's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I wonder if some of that has to do with tv ratings. Pat Knight and his rant will be plastered all over ESPN and they will be the only game on TV. -
UT is an #11 seed against Cincy. Very winnable game.

FACTS about Yates/Kimball game
PhatMack19 replied to Dick Vitale's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I just do not understand how some of you who post on this site try to sound so knowledgeable and don't really have a clue....its like me posting in the dang soccer forum..I don't know soccer, have never played soccer, yet if I went on there and talked about a soccer team's coach that just lost in the state title game on a last se cond goal, as if I know what the heck is going on....I would sound pretty dumb to a guy that REALLY knows soccer. Same concept.... Here are some things that you may want to consider: 1) This Yates team was very good, finishing with a 33-6 record as state finalist, but although they were far better than most in Texas, they were not as good as the previous teams that dominated in 09 and 10....not even close...No TRUE PG, for starters, and I could go on, but I want to keep this simple. 2) Every coach in TEXAS would send tapes on and try to strategize on how to beat Yates...ALL SEASON LONG..Do you guys really think that Coach Wise did not see every gimmick, trick defense, offensive game plan in the WORLD throughout these playoffs? Yet was a possession away from winning state again? 3) Their Sr. Leader, went 1-16 last night, and 0-7 from three....yet it took a prayer to best them on a last second shot in the end...1-16! This had not happened all year long...They missed FIVE front end one and ones down the stretch, which allowed Kimball to get back in the game.... wrong time for that, but how is that Coach Wise's fault? It's basketball, sometimes that just happens. 4) Ever lose a parent the day before a title game? Well Yates had to deal with THAT obstacle as well...the sophomore guard #1, lost his grandmother (who was raising him) on Friday while in Austin....Not making excuses, just stating facts here.. 5) Did one of you guys say DISCIPLINE was an issue? I'd you did, I want to ask you one question...If you have seen Yates play, have you EVER seen those kids, talk back to a ref, talk smack to an opposing player, chest pump, throat slash, or ANY of those things that you often see undisciplined kids and teams do? I will answer for you. NOT EVER. Yates has possibly the MOST disciplined kids around.. Maybe this will help some of understand better, then again maybe it won't...I was just as shocked at the ending last night as most, but I do know that in these winner take all championship situations, things can and will happen....to blame the coach that has been there many times and understands also, is just not smart...Kimball was the defending state champion...they were a very good team...it took a wing and a prayer for them to beat Yates, and they got them both last night....Congrats to them and thanks to both teams for one of the best 4A finishes EVER.
The ONLY fact that matters about the Yates/Kimball game-- Kimball 78 Yates 75 Final -
I hit a HR one time at a Regional tourney in Dumas. It was a low line drive that I didn't think was going to leave the park. I was running full speed when the 1st base coach told me it was gone, just in time for the 1st base bag to jump out and cut me for a flip. I sat on my butt in the infield dirt as the whole crowd laughed at me. It was definately my most memorable homerun trot.

UT defeated Dallas Baptist midweek by a score of 2-1 in 12 innings. Still no offensive production from the Horns. Felts finished 0-5 and Bellow was 0-3 with a BB and run scored. It looks like the Friday game against Loyola Marymount was cancelled for weather. They will play a double header today to try to get a few games in. -

#5 Texas A&M took game 1 from #11 CS Fullerton by a score of 6-1. Statum finished 1-4 and looks to have taken over the job in left for now. Game 2 was stopped for weather with the scored tied at 5 in the 10th. They will finish game 2 and 3 today. -
