1.
Final was actually 93-58.  Kelly was led in scoring by Taylor Pace (25), Thomas Falgout (23) and Josh Kern (16).  Kelly plays Lumberton tomorrow at Kelly.
Game will be at Lumberton Middle School. Varsity should start at 1pm.
2. Here's some more for you to consider: Brannon Hayes-TJ Keena Young-Ozen Richard Netherly-WO-S Dominic Keller-Memorial
3. So Evadale could win/play in the championship game AND the consolation game too!!
4. HF has played 3 games!! They are 2-1 losing to Vidor(who by the way is much improved this year) and they seemed to handle their business against the other two teams. I'm glad yall are excited to have some kids who can play over there, just be a little patient and see what happens! Support your team in a positive way and you will see your program take off!! HF and Coach Richards are long overdue some success!! Good luck!!
5. Goodness, I'm tired of seeing this!! Coach Richards has SOME reason for playing his kids at whatever level he chooses! I remember Coach Joubert sitting Devin Bray on the freshman team for some period of time also. IF the kids are good enough to take the place of the varsity point guard, then they eventually will. In the mean time, you folks are coming across as just the type of parents that HF has been known for recently!! PATIENCE!!!!! The season is still young!!!!!!
6.
Football coaches need to always remember the old advice “a jack of all trades is a master of none”. The worst thing you can do to your team is over-complicate things. Keep things simple and master your style of play. You’re much more likely to win when you do just one or two things well than you are if you do 9 or 10 things mediocre.  What makes a coach become good in setex? ;D
The number one thing is the discipline/dedication of the kids! All you have to do is look @ PN-G last year. Find out how many different offensive formations and plays they had. They were able to execute them because the kids were disciplined and dedicated to getting it done right. If you get your whole team on board the sky's the limit. Of course you need your go to plays, but if all your going to do is one or two things, you better hope the coaches on the other side stink or you'll be shut down.
7. Come on... There is a HUGE difference between the boys and the ladies. Just look at the Griner girl @ Baylor. She gets how many blocks a game just because she can get up near/above 10'. Every state champ has multiple kids who can play above the rim(4a/5a probably all of them) and run the floor too. I agree the Uconn coach could put his girls in positions to score some points, but they would lose to every state champ. Now could they beat many boys teams? yes. State champs, NO!!
8.
What were the stats for this game?
Lumberton: Kris Koch -18pts 7steals 4 assist Tim Cervantes-20pts Ryan Dunkleberger-12pts 9reb 3blk Josh Romano -11pts 5 reb FT-10/21 48% Central: K. Smith-23pts(8 really big ones in 4th quarter) C. Baloney-11pts B. Jackson 10pts FT-17/38 44%
9. No. The game is over. This should now be handled by the coach and the kids parent at home.
10. Cunningham had 25. 11 in first(3 threes), 6 in second, 6 in third(2 threes), 2 in fourth.
11. Ping-Pong!!! When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging. The IOC recognizes chess and bridge as a sport. They may not be in the olympics, but shooting skeet and archery are. Are they really a sport? Fun,yes. Sport,no.
12. Dang it. I know I said I was done(which I am with the soccer topic), but I can't let yall grow up with these crazy ideas about sports. NASCAR??? I guess i can feel athletic as I drive home from work, especially if I get in some traffic or I'm late...Darts!!!???!!! What??? Anything played by drunk people in a bar is not a sport!!!! If it is then craps is too cause you gotta toss dem bones with just the right amount of wrist action or you'll end up with them snake-eyes...What next? Washers? Horeshoes? Pecan Toss? Cup stacking? Ping Pong? Next thing you know soccer will be considered a sport!! JK! I might not spell good or use that great of English, but I've got sarcasm down! Again good luck to yall!
13. Were did I diss soccer??? I merely stated why I don't care for the game. I thought that was sorta the topic of the thread. Man, yall really should read what I wrote a little more carefully. I never said soccer players aren't athletes.  Read what I wrote carefully about those athletes. Had they grown up playing soccer I believe US soccer would be world class. But they chose, and continue to choose, to play mainly American sports. Look at Lumberton's success in soccer recently. Numbers were down, so Coach Luttrull convinces some of the kids who were playing football to play soccer(ex:Bell,Granato,Murrill,Schexnider,Sparks,Brackin) and since they were athletic and coachable they are able to help Lumberton win how many district championships??? And I'm not saying because you play football you are a better athlete. I'm saying MOST of the better athletes play football, or basketball, or baseball at most schools in this area, and around our country. BTW Im not trying to diss your sport here, merely stating how it is.   Ron, Lebron plays a TEAM sport where as Tiger plays an individual sport. If basketball was 1 on 1, Lebron would dominate all but a handful of NBA players much like Tiger has. And please don't try to tell me NASCAR is a sport...I guess poker is a sport since it's on ESPN too...Don't confuse compitition with sports. I also never called soccer  "white sport". That is what some of the people I knew who played at the time refered to it as though. But I'd dare say in the US, it is actually an overwhelming  "white sport". What exactly do you think a "Soccer Mom" is when people are talking politics? I promise they aren't refering to the Latino vote. Anyway. Please read all this carefully before getting upset. I'm done with this. I'll still look on here to see the scores from the local schools. If yall play, good luck to yall.
14. Whoa now. Go back and read it again without your emotions getting in the way. That's MY reason why I never got into soccer. Trying to give you some insight on the way many people view your sport. Obviously this view is probably more common in the U.S. than other places around the world. Most of our(the U.S.) best and most skilled athletes don't play soccer. I magine if Reggie Bush, Adrien Peterson, Barry Sanders, Walter Peyton, Alan Iverson, Lebron James,Ozzie Smith(as goalie) ect... all grew up and/or kept playing soccer. Granted their are some great athletes playing soccer but IMO they are not the top teir athletes in the U.S. Plus it's played in schools at the worst time of the year weather wise. Why??? Again, just some of the reasons why soccer isn't seen by many as what you want it to be.
15. Let me first say I am not a soccer fan. I didn't grow up playing it and just don't care for it. My opinion probably stems from hearing people say when I was growing up how it was a "white sport." It always seemed like the kids I knew who played were looking for something they could say they were successful in because they couldn't play football, basketball or baseball. I still wonder if the same kids and parents would care about soccer if their kid had to play behind the most athletic kids in the school. I know some would, yall probably would since you're on a soccer forum all the time. That's really my beef with soccer. It isn't the sport so much as the reason why many people play it.
16. PN-G led 31-19 at half. Lumberton was cold shooting and didn't execute offensively in 1st half. Doty wouldn't miss anything. Doty had 12 at half with 2-3's and 2/2 FT's. PN-G led by about 16 or 18 before Lumberton picked up tempo in 4th(scored 29pts) and cut lead to 2 with about 2min left in game. Doty again killed us with 7pts from field and 10/12 from FT line in 2nd half. Overall PN-G was 33/52 from FT line going 16/24(Doty 8/8) in 4th quarter to finish Lumberton off. Scoring: Lumberton:Josh Romano-14                 PN-G:B.Doty-29(12/14 fts)               Kris Koch-13                              S.Deron-12               Ryan Dunkleberger-12                  J.Begnaud-9(9/10 fts)               Tim Cervantes-8(all in 2nd half) FTs- Lumberton: 10/20         PN-G: 33/52
17.
Well AG!  THE best out of Jaguar land has to be Damon Sweet!  THE best out of Lincoln has to be Stephen Jackson. THE best out of Westbrook has to be Luke Jackson but Sneed is pushing him!  I think THE best out of your school has to be Thadeous Holden.  THE best out of TJ has do be Darious Hayes.. THE best out of Memorial has to be Jacovin Brown.  THE best out of Ozen is Perk.
Best out of TJ was Brannon Hayes. I think you confused him with Darious Brannon who played for Lincoln about same time. You really think Stephen Jackson was better in HS than McElroy and BJ Tyler and Anthony Allen???? I just looked up that Lincoln has 23 players who were all-state from 1973 to 2001!!!!! Yes Jackson has had a better career, but McElroy was the best HS player IMO. But I didnt see all the others since some were before my time. Same with Keena Young and Perkins @ Ozen. Young was the better HS player.
18. First of all we obviously didn't play well. Mainly because the kids lost their minds over the refs and didn't mentally adjust. The refs were from the Houston Chapter. They gave me a tech for saying "That's a foul!!" . I was warned for calling "3-seconds" out and told then they do not allow any comments about calls... The first foul of the game was called 6min into the game and BOTH teams were beating the crap out of each other. I've seen refs "let em play" but they would always call the real obvious stuff. Not these guys. Livingston has a pretty good ball club. They are very quick and shot well from outside hitting 11 threes for the game with mulitple kids. We missed too many easy shots and made way too many turnovers. Livingston deserved to win last night. We move on and get ready for the next one on Monday.
19. When I was a kid, I shot a bat out of the air with my Daisy bb gun. One shot one kill. Looking back ,he probably actually was trying to catch my bb, but I thought I was a bad dude to have shot a bat with a bb gun with one attempt!!!
20. Score was 67-42. Silsbee is loooooong!!!!! My calulator ran out of batteries counting up their blocked shots! Our first group didnt look too bad vrs press just had a hard time finishing against their giants.... Saw some good things and some things we need to work on. Silsbee is good and will be VERY GOOD once their guards return from football.  btw i'm still not exactly sure what happened when Koch went up on that fast break...
21. ANother local who went Pro was the guy who owned Homeys BBQ and Homestyle Cooking in Port Arthur a while back. He was the nicest guy you could meet.  I wanna say his first name is Paul but forgot his last name though.  HE did play for KC...he was telling me and my son about it when we used to eat at his place. He made the BEST smothered pork chops in the world!!  He was like 6-6 300lbs+ ..a gentle giant.  He lived on the same street we did back about 12 years ago.  [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] That was Paul Washington. Not sure if he was actually from here but his kids went to school at TJ.
22. The class load doesn't bother me at all if he was getting paid a teacher's salary, which I assume he was. They just do too many boneheaded things there.  >:( With that said....Good luck to your cousin and the PAM girls!
23. WOW is right!!!!!!!! >:( This man has worked 24 years for PAISD(that's a quarter of a century!!!!!!!) and they have him, a 60 year old man, pushing a cart of books around with no room or office even!!!!!!! This makes me sick!! Stupid crap like that is why my dad quit after 30 something years teaching math at Lincoln and Memorial. He'd have probably taught there till he died but who wants to work somewhere like that???? I would have called this unbelievable, but unfortunately in PAISD it is not!!! aggghhhh >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
24. For ANY school to truely be successful(be it winning state or just being able to compete with the other teams in the district) it takes a LOT of work. Way too many kids don't wont to put in the time and work needed, and end up doing what they think is good enough to get by. For teams like HF has had recently it takes even more time and work. I know the coach knows his stuff and how to work the kids. When he was at Lumberton he was always competitive and has beaten some schools he "shouldn't have" like PAM, WB, Silsbee... Invest the time and effort and it'll pay off. Just ask H-J kids!
