  1. I will even go further than that, there is no telling where Rison is but he has never gotten another HC job. John Clayton never got another HC job and is out of coaching. Arthur Louis never got another HC job and is out of coaching. The only coach that left Ozen and got another HC job was Thomas Brooks and he took a job at 3a Jasper. So i don't think any coach has ever used Ozen as a stepping stone job.
  2. Just curious as to how the Ozen job has been a stepping stone for the last few head coaches. Nelson is currently the WRs coach at Central, McGee is currently the TEs coach at Spring Westfield, and Suggs will never be a head coach again. How is that using the Ozen job as a stepping stone. Using a HC job for a stepping consists of leaving and taking a better job. None of these guys did that.
  3. Spoke with three Beaumont residents today and that is the name I kept hearing. I was surprised but not really. Regardless it will be a tough job for someone.
  4. The hire will more than likely be Arthur Louis, but I have always thought it was risky hiring coaches that are retired. Especially for a head coaching job. You have to think that by hiring a coach who is already retired if things don't go the way he wants them to he can leave at any moment and the district will have no control over him because he is already retired. Also this would be another short term hire. You would just think surely there are some qualified coaches out there that are not retired or passed there prime that would do a good job. All that being said, I must say this will definitely be a steep uphill climb for whomever gets this gig! For the kids sake I hope BISD will find a coach who will stay for a while.
  5. Coach Mathews at Vidor, Coach Wilkinson at Baytown Lee, and Coach Boyd at GCM definitely made more than Suggs and Foreman. This is factual and current.
  6. All three head coaches in Beaumont make the same amount. I'm not sure the exact $ amount but when it came out in the paper a couple of years ago the amount was around $80,000-$81,000. Lumberton was the only school who didn't have there head coach listed at that time, but Suggs and Foreman were the two lowest paid coaches in 22-5A.
  7. High point I agree with a lot that you have stated. The facilities in BISD need to be updated. You wonder why that didn't happen with all that bond money. WB gym is clearly outdated and if you drive by Centrals campus there facilities are embarrassing. They actually practice in a field that is used for a baseball/softball parking lot. All three Head Coaches in Beaumont are the lowest paid in there districts (22-5A) (21-6A). I agree there are not a lot of incentives to becoming a Head Football Coach unless you are building your resume. Also JRidge what does it say for the Ozen Football program that people are on here ranting and raving about losing Coach Nelson who's overall record was 16-28 and never finished better than 4th place in district. It doesn't appear that even Ozen faithful have very high standards for there football program.
  8. The problem is JRidge that your prayers are being answered about every 18 months. The Ozen overall Athletic Program is as bad as I have ever seen it.
  9. I heard from a reliable source that Suggs resigned today from Ozen? Can anyone confirm?
  10. The official UIL #s that Ozen turned in kept then in 5A. They didn't opt up that is where they were put by the UIL. I know some of you may find this hard to imagine, but sometimes the local media is not accurate on things they report.
  11. Also I a little bit and a rarity agree with Ozenfinest, but the problem in BISD is folks stealing money not the education! Silsbee is not exactly Harvard on the Neches! Come on Man!
  12. Tyrone Swoopes may be the reason they don't sign anymore small school players. They also have signed two guys from Giddings who stayed about 30 minutes before they transferred.
  13. Silsbee beat central in 7 on 7 Tourney last year at Legacy. WOS, Ozen, West Brook, and Kountze were also there, but those two played for the tourney championship and the Tigers won. It was on Ch 6 that night.
  14. Many HS programs have recruiting coordinators, but I understand what you mean! Lol. The Tigers are having a hell of a recruiting class this year!
  15. Congrats to Coach Jehlig as the new HFC at HF! Good luck! I have a nephew in the program and I wish you well!
  16. There may have been underclassman that will eventually sign as D-1 student athletes, but yes Mrs. Piggy Central only had one D-1 signee in the class of 2016!
  17. My question is just what it was on the other thread, let's go WB wins vs WB talent also PA wins vs PA talent? The three years Foreman has been at Central his overall record has been better than both of these schools and they both have signed as many or more kids. So I guess I'm just wondering why these two coaches and schools are being bashed and questioned the same way. Especially PA? My god they are 6-14 over the past two seasons.
  18. I started this thread to congratulate two student athletes that have earned scholarships. Not to discuss and bash coaching playoff success. It does seem odd to me though that some on this site are like a broken record. I believe Coach Harrison is 4-16 over the last two years with no playoffs and several D-1 players. In the four years that Flannigan has been at WB he has an overall record that is .500 and only made the playoffs twice witch both games were blowout losses. So does that mean WB and PA also have circus like practices? Also Central did have one D-1 player, Whaley that went to Arkansas. CE King had atleast two, RB that went to A&M and the QB went to Tulane and the final score was 32-31. So if Central would have held on and won would that have meant that Coach Price has circus like practices? This thread was meant to spotlight and congratulate kids not to grind personal axes against certain coaches. So if you want to do that please start your own thread.
  19. Congrats to Vance Vallier and Chris Boudreaux of Beaumont Central for both receiving offers from Rice University. I was told that Boudreaux committed to Rice last night at the Spring Game.
  20. Franks did stay at OU and took his punishment and graduated with a degree after four years. That is the actual reason most kids do attend college. Low percentage of college athletes actually make it pro.
