  1. Reagan as I stated earlier, when you have a program that has been successful like Nederland has under Larry, you should stay in house. You probably shouldn't stay in house when a head coach/staff does in the August Era. That is how schools with tradition continue there tradition. Just saying be careful what you wish for cuz you may get it. JMO!
  2. Traditionally programs that have tradition and success keep the hire in house. That way the success and tradition will continue. The two most succesfull football programs in the area both stayed in house when making coaching changes. WOS hired Cornel Thompson who had a previous head coaching record of 2-8 before he took over at WOS, and that has worked out pretty good. WT Johnson was 0-0 as a head coach before he took over at Newton and that worked out pretty good too. Gary Joseph took over at Katy for Mike Johnston when he retired that seems to have worked nicely. The head coach at North Shore was the long time DC and took over after Aymond retired. I believe he won a state title in only his second year. Desoto chose to hire there OC after there head coach left and went to SMU two seasons ago and I believe he just won the schools first ever football state title. Lastly, Dan Hooks was the DC for five years at WOS before he got the job after Steve McCarty left in 1982. His previous head coaching record at Channelview was 5-5. Be careful what you wish for Nederland fans, because you may get it! Give the job to Barrow! #BOBBYAUGUST! Lol
  3. I do see both sides of this argument as having valid points. The thing that I think people overlook with all three high schools in Beaumont is that there is not a real jr high program in Beaumont. The kids can basically go where they please. You will not have much success in the regular season or in the playoffs with that set up I don't care how good of a coach you are! Both coaches have done a pretty good job under the current circumstances surrounding them. Another thing I don't think people realize is how hard it probably is to get coaches to come to BISD. If you do want to talk history though here is a little history on both coaches and both programs that they run. First Flanigan, who has made the playoffs 3 of his 5 years at WB. This year he equalled the schools most win total in a single year in school history which was 11. He went three rounds in the playoffs which has happened only 3 times in 20 years. Ironically his record going into this season was 22-22 with zero playoff wins and many on here and in the community wanted him gone. The funny thing is they still do. Now Foreman who inherited a 5-15 program over the two years Pryor to his arrival. He has a 20-8 overall district record and finished as district co-champs in 2014 which has only happened four other times in schools history. He also is the only Coach at not only Central, but also French, BCP, CP, and Beaumont High, to make the playoffs four total times. The only coaches in the HISTORY of Beaumont Texas to make the playoffs four consecutive years are Alex Durley, Arthur Louis, Jerry Hentschel, Craig Stump, and Toby Foreman. People on this board wanted him gone the day he was hired and they still do. Also Central hasn't beaten WB since 2003. That was 5 coaches ago: Foreman, Washington, Jackson, and Stowers were all 0fer vs WB! You must know where you have been to understand where you are going! You can find negatives about both these guys, but under the current circumstances and state of BISD you are very lucky to have coaches that want to work here and conduct programs at a high level as they do.
  4. I heard there used to be some guys that gathered at the ole Appomattox that thought they had a lot of stroke in Beamont and BISD. I don't think they feel that way anymore! Lol.
  5. Pakronos has once again hit the sauce again a little hard before going to watch his favorite team. "Don't hit send!" - Herm Edwards
  6. I didnt know the Appomattox Club doubled as a church. I'm way behind.
  7. Both coaches have very different styles but did respectable jobs while driving the L-Train.
  8. Congrats on a good season Cards! Good luck Stafford!
  9. Was told two days ago that Foreman has one more year on his contract. Looks like your stuck with him for another year.
  10. Central will struggle vs PNG even if they were healthy but they are pretty banged up. Mrs Soulja I would love to see you be the next head coach at central. I doubt you have ever wore an athletic supporter but if you did I would predict it fell off from lack up support. If you know what I mean. Average program lead by a sub average fan base! You need to face it, your school has no tradition, and to be honest central really has no fan base. You are a good example. Most schools in your situation would be 100% supporting there program in hopes of them making the playoffs for four years straight for only the 2nd time ever, but instead you are smoking the coaching staff, the head coach, and the overall program. BLM, just not yours! I love this website!
  11. Please don't put WOS and Silsbee in the same category. 51-2. Come on man!
  12. Insider and soulja I see a new jag head coaching era coming real soon. I will tune in from time to time to see how that is working for Ya!
  13. Jags are down this year but are very much in the playoff hunt. Livingston and NED and Jags will probably battle it out for 4th. This will probably be the first time in the Foreman Era that the jags finish worse than 3rd. However Central is 18-7 in district games in that time span. I guess coaching could be the problem but if the jags make the playoffs it will the first any head coach has ever gotten central to the playoffs four total times, much less four consecutive times. Face it Central, you don't have much in your history when it comes to tradition and consistancy. Be careful what you wish for cuz you may get it. Just my opinion.
  14. I just want to thank the Silsbee faithfull for paying me out over $4,000. I would also like to bring up the fact that this is the end result of an unathletic superintendent and a car dealer picking the head football coach! Come on man! Lol
  15. I think the punishment for the guilty party should be to carry the ball vs the chain gang tomorrow night. I think the cards just woke up the sleeping giant. Good luck to the Stangs! Hang 80 on Em!
  16. Silsbee 5-5 at very best this season. That is with two D-1 transfers. That will probably not happen every year. As someone stated earlier it is only two game in to the new regime, but I don't see this team beating WOS, Navasota, Bridge City, or Huffman. Silsbee currently has three players offered by D-1 schools. That is more than anyone in the area. This is what happens when a car dealership owner is half of the interview process! Come on man! Lol good luck tigers!
  17. I will give 6 points vs WOS if there are any takers in the Silsbee / WOS game. $5,000! Any Takers? Word I'm hearing is the Superintendent will lose his job over this Silsbee HC hire! Maybe they shouldn't let the local car dealer be in on the two man hiring committee. Lol. Come on man!
  18. During the time of that 16-5 district record for Central there non district opponents have included WOS, PAM, West Brook, and Summer Creek. The schedule they play is pretty tough. Not knocking anybody else's schedule but take PNG for example in the same time frame they have played Clear Lake, WOS, Tyler Chappel Hill. I think the non district schedule has prepared Central for district success. I also agree that in the past three or four years the teams that should have finished at the top of the district actually did. I also agree that the district is down compared to maybe 10 years ago.
  19. The last two years in District play PNG is 11-3, Central is 11-3, and NED is 12-2. During that time PNG is 1-1 vs Central, 0-2 vs NED, and 1-1 vs WOS.
  20. I agree PNG could do worse than Faircloth, but he has had a few more losses than just NED and WOS in the area the past three years. The top district records out of PNGs league have been: Nederland - 19-2 PNG - 16-5 Central 16-5 Besides WOS and NED, Faircloth has lost to LCM and Central. If you go back four years then Fairclith is 2-2 vs Central, 0-2 vs LCM, and you can include losses to Ozen, Vidor, and Livingston.
  21. I'm confused on how WOS was brought into this discussion?
  22. Thompson actually left and then came back. He left to take the HC job at Palestine. Toby's father Mark left as well to be the DC at Palestine. They then went to Huntsville where Foreman was the HC and Thompson was the DC. I believe they left for a total of 4 or 5 years. Pierce has left at least two times to become a DC before returning to be the DC at WOS. Dyer has remained throughout all the changes for about 20 years, however was passed over about 4 or 5 times for coordinator positions even once by Thompson before being named the OC three years ago. Foreman was the OC for three years after serving five years on the staff as an assistant and applied for the HC job when they chose Thompson, and they made the right choice Foreman left for other oppurtunities. I think all these guys have landed on there feet. WOS has never hired a HC without them being a coordinator at WOS first and they also have never hired a HC without HC experience. Please know all your facts before you start posting about a program you know very little about.
  23. First of all this is a lot of talk for a job that is currently filled and for all likely hood will be for as long as Thompson wants to stay. I do think Foreman as well as Dyer and Pierce would be on a very short list of coaches that will get consideration for this job. Regardless of who the next HC at WOS will be he will have been a coordinator there at some point in time. Which all three of these coaches have.
