It is obvious even in high school that its all about the quarterback . Back in the day it was all about the running back . Its a qb driven league in high school , college and pros . I mean what nfl rb is head and shoulders above the rest ? Every year its a new back so rb arent even highly drafted no more you can find them a dime a dozen . Look at the finalist of the WRS award all QBs that if it werent for them their teams wouldnt had probably been that good or any good for that matter. I saw some argue about backs no being there but what rb in the area put up 1900-2300 yards rushing in the the area ? If your the main back that is what i have seen throughout the state in all classifications With 2000-3000 yards rushing for a back . I didnt see those type of numbers for backs in the area . Plus like it was mentioned earlier just because you win the MVP of your district (nowadays) doesnt mean you are the best at your position . Its a lot of people on this board that played and remember if you won MVP 70'thru early 90's and you were a a QB in most cases you were 1st team All District and if you had a monster year you could pull the hat trick MVP,AD 1ST team and Outstanding back . But nowadays since a lot of qbs throw and run so much and put up numbers and you have 3-4 teams going into the playoffs well you have tO reward a kid . So the kid from Nederland MVP Kid from Png Off Mvp ozen kid 1st team And the kid from central 2nd team (a travisty based on his performance) i have seen teams that have 3 1st team qb at all district and 3 2nd teamers . Crazy !!! Now you have categories for qbs classic drop back passer , dual threat , athletic and option qb . HELLO isnt the position qb ? So now you have awards for different styles for the same position . A qb should know how too lead , throw and run when need be , but the most important stat is to lead and win . Tim tebow was a great college football player NOT a great college qb by no means and its a shame his egO wont allow him to see he could be of use to a team as a good football player . The game has just changed and we have too accept it . Congrats to the winner and the finalist on both sides of the ball .

seay played in 5 game on the defense and not the hole game and still had 30 plus tackles. And you're correct this is not a debate again congrats to all of the boys that were nominated and the finalist.

Please don't take this one thing away from these kids all that were nominated not just the finals all that or nominated had A great year for their team this is on the hands of the voters I can promise after reading who the voters were and if I knew how to snapshot it and put on this site you would see that the voters only stats to go of off. At the banquet you would know that Mr. Smith was more than a stats guy he didn't know one thing about football when he got into coaching this award was on leadership character motivating your team to a higher level. Again congrats to the two winners well deserved

I would like to say this on behalf of sage seay. He was blessed to have a good team around him it was all ways about the team not him. He loved playing with the dogs and play for his Community all you have to do is ask him and if you were to say something like it was a one man show don't call me and say sage was very ugly. Because he was going to let you know how hard the dogs had to work this year to be good it took all 100 kids that came to practice very day to be good this year. That was his words at the football banquet the other night. It was fun for me being part for the bulldog Family for four years now it's time to move on looked out Lake Charles Louisiana the Cajun train is coming to you.
