1. They ran the Stack I some if I am not mistaken. Triple eye? They ran mostly spread in district. If they are going to run a Stack I, I would put Morrisey in the backfield with Craddick and find someone to hand the ball off to them and pass a little. Bolton maybe? JMHO. Have a good group to work with coming back.

All this talk about heart and discipline..just a bunch of nonsense.  Bring in a coach that the community and players believe in and they will be just fine.  Hard to argue against the credentials of the young man they have hired.  There are always people disappointed when their guy doesn't get the job.  It is called pride.  Alvarez or Valastro both would have been great hires also.  Those who chose had a hard choice to make.  It was made.
heck, I am glad Morgan got hired .... probably will be a great hire for Jasper ... I think he will turn around your program ... IF the parents and fans give him a change and don't get thier tights in a wad the first time little Jimmy is called on the carpet for any mistake or unsportmanship, ....  But to call heart, desire and discipline a bunch of nonsense speaks volumes about your great Jasper football program ... evidence #1 ... I give you 2-8 ... evidence #2 ... being beat by Diboll, Orangefield, Center, Kirbyville and whoever else beat ya ... enough said ...
What is nonsense is to assume Jasper's kids don't have heart and discipline.  Bring in the right motivator and these kids will compete and beat those they should beat.  There is no shame in losing to Kirbyville these days but I agree we shouldn't lose to those others.
If you have read any post I have I have written before you would see this not as a shot at the kids ... goes to the coaches you have had ... I have lived in this area all my life ... I have friends whose children played for winning Jasper teams (state runner up team) ... I know Jasper has more, and better, athletes ... When you played Kirbyville last year, you could see the difference in the players (not talking the stars here ... Ford, Cucancic, Keene, Breed, Tyler, Jones, etc... were better). But the whole team had better players as a whole .. The reason you got beat that night was because of desire to win and discipline of the whole Kirbyville team .... Kirbyville players did thier jobs, did not beat their chest (too much), were held accountable for mistakes ... All I am saying is that by the very size of your school compared to the others and the availability of more athletes you SHOULD win these games ... you don't because of discipline and a burning desire to win (not just to have good statistics and look real good on the field) ... this is taught by the right coach ... you have just hired him ... I want Jasper to be good ... I want the 44-43 last second win against a strong Jasper team ... It's good for both schools ... Heck ... I think the overall problem for Kirbyville in the playoffs was the weakness of the district (we were firing on all cylinders after a tough predistrict ... then district ... oh well ... Carthage won state because they Survived their district ... YOU being better is good for YOU, good for US, Good for eveerybody ... just trying to be a good neighbor ....  ;D ;D
You didn't get beat in the playoffs because of a weak district. That is a weak excuse. If you are that good and the coach is that good and you were the better team that day, you should have won regardless of your district, period.

Wow... nothing against Morgan, i am sure he is a fine coach, but i still can not believe they did not take Jack.....Again!!! second time they turned him down....
they might live to regret this again...
If I was Alverez, I would run up the score as high as I could to prove a point....
Go Cats!!! put another beatdown on them just like the last 6 years under Alverez....
Either I am stupid or you are misstated because Kville was beat by Jasper in 2009, so they have not beat Jasper for like the last six years? Did I miss something?
4. It is highly unlikely that any of these schools grow in numbers because of the locations they are in. Good rich would have the best chance in location, but would have to change some things to grow and for people to want to put their kids there. Chester is basically home town folks as well as Big Sandy and Spurger and there is no job market for these places. All of that said, I truly do not think that any of these schools can handle much of a cut in finances, especially Chester as they have been struggling to keep a balanced budget every since the tax exemptions on timber companies many years ago. With there numbers being so low, they cannot take money cuts as well. There could come a day where Chester has no choice but to consolidate even though that is the last thing they want to do. It may happen with many small schools. We will just have to see. I hope that it doesn't come to that.
5. Do believe the drama is over and this is a lock. I believe the energy surrounding Jasper Football next year is going to be awesome. They have some good kids coming back and some good kids coming up. Thank the Lord we wont be running that crazy defense again this year! Hope he comes in and evaluates all talent and puts every kid where they best fit his scheme, not necessarily where they played in the past. I like this hire.
6. Surely if there was a kicker on the team, Alvarez would have found him by now. Who is kicking off? Cant do extra points? Obviously not or this thread would not be going.

As good as the running game is and the QB is, they should be able to go for two the rest of the year and be fine from the sounds of it. ;)

That is one place Jasper is money. Mijares is on on the field goals and extra points!
7. I am going to say, probably not this early. It will probably take a couple of more games to get a few more of the kinks worked out. Also, Jasper's QB was out for the latter part of the game and they may be running someone else which may take a little time to get the timing down. I do think this it could be a good game. If Jasper keeps improving, they will solid by district to make a run at the playoffs. It could be a close one Friday night in WOS though. Playing there with Hook's mouth in the ref's ear is always tough though. If we cut down on penalties more and tackle even better next week, that will be good.

I hope broadcaster is right.
8. You are right on the penalties. Coachin em up should get some of that stuff out of the way. I would also just like to see this offense with Middleton at QB and Morrisey's speed coming out of the tailback position. I personally think it would work better and the offense would blossom. Screens with Morrisey? Oh yes, that would be nice. I will support him at QB though because I am not sure this coach is going to give in to changing anything. Now would be the time and with Morrisey banged up, the opportunity is there to let Middleton go and he may have to go at QB, NOT that I am wishing for Morrisey to be hurt. I pray he is ok, he is a warrior and good player.
9. All in all, any win is a good win. The Bulldogs did play a little better tonight. Still had to many penalties, but showed some signs of improvement there. The O-line from Worthing was BIG on the left side. They scored on their first possession and Jasper kept them out after that. Less mistakes on the offensive side tonight and better tackling by the defense and yes they had a very fast QB and RB. The Dawgs are still young and not there yet. Need to cut down more on penalties and work on execution. Armstrong was strong tonight. Fought for hard yards. Morrisey was good til he suffered an injury and Middleton did fine moving to the Qb spot. They would be fine with him there if Morrisey is hurt. Defense really tackled better and special teams was good. If they keep improving more they will be better. They cannot afford to go backwards. This is a tough schedule Jasper has to tackle. Started with three 4A's and WOS. The boys are playing well considering.

MOST IMPORTANT: THEY ARE NOT QUITTING AND ARE PLAYING WITH EFFORT SO FAR. GOOD JOB ON THAT!
