Collegiate athletics is a very tough battlefield. This is terrible for Mississippi State's recruiting in Texas though. Texas HS football is a brotherhood of a different type. And coaches talk. Rest assured this will be in the back of the mind of every coach who deals with Miss. State recruiting their kids.

This so true. I hope that screws them royally for future commits. Hopefully the other schools still have scholarships left to give out. It also stated that the recruiting was being scrutinized. I wonder if they offered something that could not be upheld without causing issues being under the spotlight.

I am not sure if it's a good thing or not but if they do limit it then they should mix the teams brackets allowing the two teams from a region to be on opposite sides where they could have a chance to meet in the finals. If they are going to reduce the teams then there should be no reason for D1 and D2 brackets. You should not eliminate a team from the playoffs at the what is now at the regional playoff just because they are from the same region. They should be permitted to continue on and possibly meet in the finals. Just my thoughts.

Being an Aledo fan, I have a little first hand experience with both teams.  Haven't seen Ennis play since Aledo played them in the semi-finals last season.  The final score didn't reflect how close the game was.  Ennis held Aledo's record setting offense to just 29 points, but Aledo played great defense and forced two key turnovers.  I know Ennis graduated some players since then such as Terence Williams (Baylor). 
 
Saw Cedar Park in McLane Stadium to open this season and they gave Aledo a great game.  CP took a 10-0 first quarter lead and Aledo had to come from behind with barely a minute left to win.  Then the game came down to a pass batted down in the end zone.  I think it's fitting that both Aledo and CP are playing for state championships this weekend.

Agreed 1000%. I was hoping that they would meet up again in the title game for a rematch but we will have to wait until next year. Vandigrift has about 200 more students than CP does so we went into the D2 side of the bracket. Both 5A games are going to be exciting to watch. My hopes are that CP and Aledo will come out on top and play the first game of next year (be it with different SR's) but still should be a great game. I am sure temple and Ennis will have lots to say about that outcome. Good luck to all teams and here's to all the kids being safe and healthy for great games.

I am looking forward to this game as well. I am staying the night and attending this game the next day. I have seen aledo play this year and they were really good. Took advantage of the mistakes CP made and came out on top. I do not recall any mistakes made during that game by them but the will surely capitalize on any the other team makes.

I am going to say aledo 38-31. I think defenses are going to get several stops.

Even though I think Aledo is down there is no team that will score more than 40 points against them. Yes Bishop Amat did, but I believe I said earlier this season that Aledo was set up like 2011 where they lost 2 of their first 3 games, 49-48 to Stephenville and 69-34 to Lake Travis, but then the defense gelled and became unstoppable, beating Stephenville 33-0 in the playoff rematch. This is that style of team, look at what they did to John Tyler. Who anywhere in the state thought that they would do that? The offense everyone knew would be good but now the defense has gelled.
 
This is a home game for Aledo as I think they and Allen have played in Cowboys Stadium more times than the Cowboys have. Aledo is used to the 40k plus crowd and if they start fast against temple they should win.
 
This is not the same Aledo team from last year, but still is Aledo, and its hard to pick against the 4 out of the past 5 years state champ with or without Buchanan.

I think they have won more times in there then the cowboys have as well.

Not sure of what the stats are fort he season but Donta Thompson had 138 yds receiving against the eagles.

I did not see the forum so decided to create it. This is going to be a great game. Temples offensive weapons are unbelievable. BUT, aledo defense is stout. Temple is going to have to pass and run to keep the defense honest, which they have shown they can do. This one might be a high scoring game for both. I am taking aledo by 3, sorry temple no disrespect meant.

No it was caused by a select few that claim to be Crosby fans that blew it out of proportion and then probably taken further by CP folks. Either way it's bad. After understanding the real meaning I even apologized but explained it was high school cheerleaders that came up with it. If anyone thought they really understood the meaning, well more power to them.

Anyway, this board will hopefully be better and about the Ennis / CP game. No other games matter at this point. Both teams played great to get here and hopefully respect each other enough to talk up their team but keep it clean.

Ennis has a huge wide receiver that I hear is great at playing jump ball. 6'6" from what I hear. He will be hard to contain. I heard a lot of ElPaso folks taking about him. I think we have a little taller defensive back than the eagles do but still going to be hard.

I would love to see all the stats from the game but can't find them yet. They say we only threw 4 passes with 410 yards on the ground.

Thomas was a beast as usual. He had some really good runs on offense, scored and great defensive stops.
