Well they lost, got blown out actually. And surprisingly that has nothing to do with what I said. But that seems to be the common reply on here when someone strikes a nerve.

I was just pointing out how you called Newton fans out because we know what winning looks like. I guess its more interesting to watch winning teams forums than 3 replies about how Lumberton got blown out again. Maybe you should start complaining about your teams culture instead of being ok with just making the playoffs like the rest SETX.

This post is completely relevant, because West Brook owned Central, Ozen, and now United. The talent level has been about the same, but the coaching seems to be the catalyst for better teams. But, when you win a state championship in your first year of existence, it sets a precedent for success.

When was the last time Central or Ozen were relevant to being good football teams. I understand you are a fan of WB but the fact remains that WB, Nederland and PNG all have the same fans. Makes the playoffs, "So you are saying there is a chance?". You can start giving credit when every year reguardless of who WB puts on the field, it becomes unanimous that they are state contenders.

Newton didn't play like a team that will be in contention for a third consecutive state championship.  Poor blocking in the offensive line. Poor adjustments by the defense.  I know they scored a lot if points but, I think they played poorly.  I've never called the coaches out before,  but I think they just didn't adjust well. They need to fix the offensive line.  And putting pressure on the quarterback and allowing him to run it up your gut, series after series.  They only thing that stopped him is that he went out with and injury. If they don't improve,  they don't get out of their Region.

I can see how you come away from this game with that opinion but in all honesty I don’t believe you are giving Legacy enough credit.

Hey GB, thanks for that. I appreciate it. Based on overall records, WO-S is at 80% wins, Newton is 65% and PN-G 61% (not much different than Newton). But I really like looking at more than just a record. It’s the list of accomplishments, but just as much, it’s the attitude of the program.

Is this since the inception of the teams? Because football has been dramatically different since the 70s. To argue that PNG is even close to Newton or WOS is pure ignorance.

    Whittington carried them

In all honesty, I am not from WOS but I do believe if you took away the weather in that playoff game, WOS beats Silsbee. I also feel strong about saying that they would have defeated Cuero as well. All in all I think weather like that made it a toss up for any 2 teams that night.

I think newton does a damn gud job of developing there backs.and if u a get a chance  and go back and look what hurts most teams against newton.is dbs, rovers, and lbs aren't coming up and taking out the lead blockers.causing players to go around and newton backs cut back no one is there to make a tackle.no disrespect to them.unless w.o turns the ball over.i can't see newton beating them bcz what they can do to bother newton.they will dink and dunk with QB.and put 41 on the edge.but the key to it all.is w.o will run a 40 defense to get them off the edge.ik Sylvester is a great present.but he will be consumed with #69 of w.o who's a manchild.that does both ways.watch a tape on 69.no one can block him.unless he allows them.there best player.besides 41.the kid had abt 14 offers himself.alot of ppl don't like watching the big nasties up front. If newton can't dominate up front like do everyone else.that L is coming.

You are funny. You are this online coach that knows so much yet you only talk from the perspective of WOS. Maybe if you knew what you were talking about Silsbee wouldn't have beat WOS when it mattered. Just sayin.

I've noticed many saying Newton has players that are just as good as Barlow , Foster. I don't think that to be true. You could search the nation and not find another of these guys. These young men proved themselves on and off the field in society.  Newton has good players stepping up to fill the vacancy of players like Barlow but until they prove themselves on and off the field you cannot say they even compare to Barlow. Can these young players be like a Barlow or Foster ? Yes in their own way . Many of these young guys are making their Mark and earning their stripes but untile they prove themselves on and off the field and between the White Lines you can't compare them to Barlow or Foster. Being a fast runner , throwing and catching a football  , having the most tackles all these things are included in the package but there is more to being a great player and athlete.  Your activity in your classroom , neighborhood and society are just as important as being good on a football field.  Barlow and Foster along with other players from Newton have done both . Saying Newton has players just as good as Barlow or some of the other players who have moved on is not accurate. These young men did it on and off the field and continue to contribute to both . 💯💜

I do agree on the Barlow statement. That kid is really well built for the running back position and above average vision. But as for Foster, Newton always has qbs like Foster, and ironically they usually play both qb and db. I feel that Foster made the defense much better but at qb he was pretty average.

  8. Honestly, you guys are living in a lala if you think Newton doesn't have a chance against the big schools in SETX. If I remember correctly they have a winning record over most of the now 5a schools and have played close games with the ones that they don't.

PNG - Riding the hype of your qb maybe you should consider picking up the rest of your team from PA.

Vidor - is this a joke? One of the highest paid head coaches without a winning record.

Nederland - Plays WOS each year because it's the closest thing to a state championship you will get.

WB, Memorial, and BU - So much talent, horrible coaching. WB and Memorial can beat Newton due to mass amount of talent.

Give me a break.... Newton beat Silsbee the week after the flood when most schools were still cancelled and before Silsbee made adjustments that sent them into the playoffs. They also beat a terrible BC team. Other than that, Newton didn’t face a single 4A school. You’re basing your opinion on absolutely zero relevant experiences.

To suddenly crown them kings of 4A is silly. I don’t care how much “D1 talent” they’re putting on those teeny tiny 3A D2 fields.... it’s a joke. Whatever happened to Newton’s last big D1 talent? Elam? I’ll give you a hint. He suited up for 8 games last year and ended up with a tackle total of ONE. One single solitary tackle all year. What about Shorter? If anybody knows, fill me in. It’s like the guy dropped off of the earth.

Newton’s “D1 talent” doesn’t translate to the next level. Tony Brown? Yup. Deionte Thompson? Sure enough. Calvin Tyler? You know it. Matt Bryant? Bad example. They all played in bigger classifications and were ready for D1 Ball. You can’t get ready for the next level by facing off with Garrison.

Newton would have made the playoffs and lost in the first round if they’d played in our district.

Elam has one of the nations best defensive backs in the nation in front of him and  Shorter had a career ending injury during his senior year.
