  1. Dirty_but_Dazzling, my post was not bad, unacceptable or vulgar for you to threaten me in canceling my membership/registration. Just because you are on the staff, which is pretty neat, does not give you the right to threaten me over a statement in which is not vulgar or threatening to anyone. I am active and civil on here, and I had no intentions to get you so riled up. Furthermore, my statement was not a "erroneous lie" as I could very easily provide proof from more than one instance, and I never stated that it was posted on SETXSPORTS. Not that I need to explain myself, but it was all over Facebook. Best to luck to Jasper.
  2. Well, I mainly made the remark being that I saw a lot of Jasper people saying Newton is in a little 3A "pop warner" league and that they were so good this year with the new coach and offense. It was a sour remark, I know. lol. However, I think they are realizing just because they are 4A doesn't mean they are better than top 3A teams.
  3. Franklin! Jasper goes down to two 3A teams in back-to-back weeks.
  4. I agree, Newton is not PNG. Newton has 260 kids in the entire high school, while PNG probably has more that 260 kids in each grade. The sad thing is, Newton could hang with PNG, if not beat them some years. In the past, Newton has beaten WOS in some of the years WOS beats PNG. I do believe PNG beats Newton if they were to play this year, and I do not want to get into this argument, but don't think PNG is a lot better than newton, as though they should be. For WOS and Newton... this will be a good game. Newton played great against Jasper. However, Jasper had zero offense, no game plan, and looked like backyard football. So, I can't really judge anything off that game. WOS will be a lot better on offense than what Jasper showed.
  5. As a Newton fan, but a realest, I think Jasper will take this game. With that being said, Newton will get better from this game and so will Jasper. Newton needs to step up on their offence and become more balanced in today's game. They do not have D-1 athletes all over the field anymore and can't just run the ball over and over and then pass deep down the field on long 3rd and 4th downs. I'd personally like to see short passes mixed up on early downs to keep defenses spread out a little more, which opens up our run game. I mean, you can pound it every play, but it only works against the low level teams. I think Newton will do just fine in 3A-D2 this season. I think Newton can play with any team in 3A-D2 and will have a great year, but will come up short against the bigger school this year. Good luck to both teams this week.
  6. From an outsider watching both teams play for the first time (even though it was only for less than a quarter), LCM is head and shoulders ahead of HJ. HJ had two good defensive stands with LCM in the redzone, but I believe LCM did that to themselves. I can honesty see LCM running away with it about 35-0. LCM is a quality team, but not a complete team in my opinion. HJ, on the otherhand, is not very good. They lack athletes and size for the 4A level.
  7. Exactly. Heck, the guy barely lost a game in a 4-year span and called plays in 4 state title games. I don't think he's too shabby at what he does. I am with you WO-S#1, it is personnel. Yes, WOS has good players, but it does not match up as an overall team as the teams WOS fielded in the past. Anyone should be able see that.
  8. Yeah, I understand what you're saying here. It's not that BC does not have athletes, they just need to get everyone to buy in at a younger age and get everyone playing. I understand baseball is in several of the players future at the next level, but playing football does not disable that dream of theirs (unless there is some freak accident). Most select / travel ball is played in the summer and playing football should be a good "time away" from baseball until school ball approaches. Hopefully this new coach will get everyone on board and BC can finally get to the point where all the good baseball players play football.
  9. Do many of the top baseball players at BC not play football? With the new offence, it will take time to adjust and will require all athletes to participate. BC can always take a stud baseball player and develop him as a good QB. Though, these kids need several years in this system leading up to varsity play to be efficient in this type of offence. The typical run, run, run offence normally does not require a lot of skill and thinking; just line up, put your best runner(s) at RB and everyone go forward. Little more to it, but you get what I'm trying to say. I think if this coach stays around, then yall will see big strides in the near future. I hated watching yalls old offense. Hell, I hate watching my team, Newton, offense as well. Too many good athletes not being used and teams can focus on just a one or two.
  10. Newton has 3 wins in the last 5 meetings with WOS. This will be the 6th game between the two teams in the past 8 years. WOS has a chance to tie the series. Newton has a chance to own WOS with a win though.
  11. Game day. I expect Newton to play hard, get better as a team and give WOS a good game.
  12. 2014 - Newton 2015 - WOS 2018 - Newton 2019 - Newton 2020 - WOS 2021 - To be Determined
  13. In the past 5 meetings between these two teams, Newton has beaten WOS 3 times. That is quite impressive for any team, much less a small 3A team. Can Newton make it 4 wins in the past 6 meetings come Friday? Not sure, but that does sound pretty sweet to say.
  14. I'm no EC fan, so no hard feelings here. I was just referring to the "Lumberton vs. 3A" statement. That statement reads as if Lumberton would beat any and all 3A teams. There's an easy 10 plus 3A teams that would beat Lumberton. There's a little 3A purple team 50 minutes north of them that would hand it to them.
  15. I'll agree with you on Lumberton winning this game THIS season. However, I don't quite agree with the "Lumberton vs. 3A" statement. East Chambers beat them 50-24 last year and would normally put a whooping on them every year. Though, they're in a rebuilding year, so I'll go with Lumberton.
  16. I personally do not think Newton will beat WOS, but they will play hard and give WOS a good, competitive game. Newton will do really good in 3A D2 this year and has a chance to beat anyone in the division, but I think WOS will be too much this year. If Newton can keep it close and make WOS work for the win, then this game will give me great confidence in where Newton truly stands. By the way, I am rooting for Newton and hope they win, but I like to be honest with my thoughts and comments. I sure hope this game happens. This is much needed for Newton to prepare for a deep run and to be battle tested by a great team.
  17. Newton 50 Kirbyville 7 I think Newton will be a little too much for Kirbyville this year. Though, I am excited to see what Trey Allen can do there this year and years to come. I would like to see Kirbyville become good competition to Newton once again because those games were looked forward to by many. On the other hand, Newton may need to work on being more diverse and balanced on offence early on in the season before getting to stout playoff competition. I understand that Newton does not need to throw the ball and could just run, run, run while beating lower 3A competition, but this is the time to practice and become more confident and efficient in doing so to prepare for playoffs. Gatson is the best RB in 3A football, but he can be slowed down by a well rounded stacked defenses. I hope to see a well balanced offence to alleviate the running game. I trust the coaches and support them fully, but I just felt like rambling my thoughts.
  18. Newton will end being a very good 3A football team this year. For the past 4 years, Newton has been one of the top teams in the entire state from 4A D1 and down. Newton is back down to reality and will compete well against any 3A team, just not the top 4A teams anymore. Though, playing Jasper and WOS before hitting the small 3A teams will help Newton's young players out tremendously. I honestly see Newton possibly bringing home a state title next year. Back to this game, WOS by 2 touchdowns. Go Eagles!
  19. This is a great week for Kirbyville to cancel. Sorry, that was petty. Anyways, I think Jasper wins in a close one. Newton has a lot of key sophomores in key positions that will end up being very good, but they do not have a varsity game under their belt. Newton will get better every week, sweep their district and be a top 3A team in the state once again. They need time to find their identity, which will come. I just don't think Newton will be polished enough or experienced enough to beat a good Jasper Bulldogs team their first game of the season. Bulldogs in a close one, but I am rooting for my purple Eagles.
  20. Newton needs this bye week. Gilmer will have their tongues hanging out in two weeks. It’s time to up the conditioning. The eagles are proving everyone wrong this season.
  21. Great game, WOS. I am rooting for you guys. Newton has now won 3 out of the last 4 games against WOS. That is impressive. Newton has not missed a beat from last season. They’re so fundamentally sound and stacked with athletes for such a small school.
  22. Don't get me wrong, I think the "dj" guy knows football. But, I totally agree with you when he has only a WOS perspective. He's definitely giving credit to Newton, but he's still only seeing one sided. He dissected Silsbee last season too, and was stating only reasons of why they would win. Then.... we all seen how that played out. I respect WOS and hope they win every game other than this weeks game, but we have to keep it real.
