Newtons best defensive player, Foster, MLB, is out for the season. Has to have surgery on his hip.
-
With Newton being young and only having played one single game this year, it is hard to gauge. However, in the past decade, Newton has beaten WOS 4 out of 7 games. Not too shabby. I can see them taking that to 5 wins in the last 8 meetings.

They can go play HJ.

He is going to be a good one. But they need to let home sling it around more and possibly put #19 at WR. This was my first PNG game to watch other than state last year. PNG did not feel comfortable calling pass plays at all tonight. -

I hate to see it as well buddy. Y’all have a very talented team this year. This could be a dominant WOS team if things were the same ol’ WOS way. Y’all will be fine. But I do see that the players are held back a little from what they could be. -

I agree. Use #19 like last season. He was the x-factor. -

I enjoyed watching the game. The YouTube broadcast was very nice. -

Definitely. It will be a dog fight per usual. I was just trying to make a point that little Newton with less than 280 kids can play with PNG and beat them many of years in the past decade. I understand that the game can’t be scheduled; too large of a classification difference. -

Possibly. Extremely young. But it will be a good one. Newton has less than 280 kids in the entire school, and I honest believe they would give PNG all they wanted. WOS is liable to beat Newton, but don’t be surprised if little Newton beats them. -

No, but a lot faster. It’s going to be a good one. Same caliber athletes going at it. -

Newton is going to bring 2x the pressure PNG did come next week. Curious to see if QB1 will be available. QB2 better be working on a quick release. Should be a defensive game. -

I hate to hear that. Is he okay? Is it the same kid from last season? -

PNG dropped off significantly from last season. They got the win though. -

Yes. I do not understand not kicking the extra point to go up by 4, knowing PNG can easily kick long field goals to tie the game… which they did. Looks like you guys got us (Newton) next week. Newton is young and has only played 1 game this season. I’m looking forward to a good game. -
I have PNG taking this one. I do not always say or agree with what I am about to say, but I see the larger school playing a role in this game Friday. No shame in it, but I think more depth and most likely being bigger upfront will play a difference. I'm a Newton guy, and the bigger team may play a factor against Newton Next week also (WOS vs Newton). Time will tell. However, I am rooting for the smaller team here. Go WOS!

After this season, I really do see HJ only having one win in two years. I am a Newton guy who lives in Sour Lake. I want to get behind the Hawks and enjoy the few games I attend, but it is hard watching. There is a significant lack of talent and size for the 4A level. I do not like the bunched-up, gain 3-yards a play type offense, but I do think it is best for this group to be more competitive. I understand losing games, but not even being remotely competitive is a problem. Maybe more move-ins from Beaumont would help? -
There is nothing wrong with Woodville. They are a very good team and has played two consistently great programs back-to-back, while barely coming up short in both. The 0-2 record does not reflect a bad team by any means. Woodville will be just fine and will beat a lot of teams this year. Good job, Newton. This is a young team and will only get better.

Who has scored the 4 touchdowns for Newton?

Who has scored the three touchdowns for Newton?

Who knows? This is his first time playing it. He played defensive end last year. Maybe someone can help me out here... Was he the backup QB last year, or is this his first time playing QB?

Diboll by 4 scores!

Newton is playing with a new QB, an inexperienced offensive line, and starting a freshman RB. Newton will end up being a very good 3A-D2 team and make noise in the post-season, but I believe there will be many "rookie" mistakes in this first game. Woodville is a really good team. I see this being a close, hard-fought game, and hoping for a Newton win. I believe in the coaching staff and that they'll have this young team ready to play. Win or lose, both these teams will learn and come out a better team.
-
I think this will be a good game. It should be one of the closest scoring games between a #1 and #4 seed.

Did it? I'm not quite sure it went down that much once he left. The talent dropped off big time after the 2011 class graduated and Alverez left. That is when Neece took over and did not have near the talent that was fielded from 2008 - 2011. While they did not compete for a state title, he still had them relevant. Now that he left, they went down hill.
