  1. I hate to hear that. Is he okay? Is it the same kid from last season?
  2. PNG dropped off significantly from last season. They got the win though.
  3. Yes. I do not understand not kicking the extra point to go up by 4, knowing PNG can easily kick long field goals to tie the game… which they did. Looks like you guys got us (Newton) next week. Newton is young and has only played 1 game this season. I’m looking forward to a good game.
  4. I have PNG taking this one. I do not always say or agree with what I am about to say, but I see the larger school playing a role in this game Friday. No shame in it, but I think more depth and most likely being bigger upfront will play a difference. I'm a Newton guy, and the bigger team may play a factor against Newton Next week also (WOS vs Newton). Time will tell. However, I am rooting for the smaller team here. Go WOS!
  5. After this season, I really do see HJ only having one win in two years. I am a Newton guy who lives in Sour Lake. I want to get behind the Hawks and enjoy the few games I attend, but it is hard watching. There is a significant lack of talent and size for the 4A level. I do not like the bunched-up, gain 3-yards a play type offense, but I do think it is best for this group to be more competitive. I understand losing games, but not even being remotely competitive is a problem. Maybe more move-ins from Beaumont would help?
  6. There is nothing wrong with Woodville. They are a very good team and has played two consistently great programs back-to-back, while barely coming up short in both. The 0-2 record does not reflect a bad team by any means. Woodville will be just fine and will beat a lot of teams this year. Good job, Newton. This is a young team and will only get better.
  7. Who has scored the three touchdowns for Newton?
  8. Who knows? This is his first time playing it. He played defensive end last year. Maybe someone can help me out here... Was he the backup QB last year, or is this his first time playing QB?
  9. Newton is playing with a new QB, an inexperienced offensive line, and starting a freshman RB. Newton will end up being a very good 3A-D2 team and make noise in the post-season, but I believe there will be many "rookie" mistakes in this first game. Woodville is a really good team. I see this being a close, hard-fought game, and hoping for a Newton win. I believe in the coaching staff and that they'll have this young team ready to play. Win or lose, both these teams will learn and come out a better team.
  10. I think this will be a good game. It should be one of the closest scoring games between a #1 and #4 seed.
  11. Did it? I'm not quite sure it went down that much once he left. The talent dropped off big time after the 2011 class graduated and Alverez left. That is when Neece took over and did not have near the talent that was fielded from 2008 - 2011. While they did not compete for a state title, he still had them relevant. Now that he left, they went down hill.
  12. I was not comparing Anahauc and HJ, I was simply mentioning that Neece's type of offense would fit HJ a lot better than the spread. Kirbyville dropped off tremendously after Neece left, and Anahauc got way better once Neece arrived. He has a great offense and scheme for the smaller, and/or less talented teams. This isn't about Neece, it is about the type of offense that fit's a team like HJ best. The spread simply won't work at HJ and time won't fix HJ. I hope Bass does well as I do not want anyone to fail.
  13. This should be a good game. I think both teams are about evenly matched. Coin flip, but I think the coin lands on WOS for me.
  14. Yall do have a stud softball pitcher. It will be neat watching her pitch in the SEC. Kentucky is usually ranked high every year.
  15. His delirious opinions are comical. He doesn't really believe all that he's saying. He's just bored and stirring the pot. He really does not like the fact that a little team with less than 300 kids in the school can consistently beat up on ALL the local 4A teams that have 600 - 700 kids. There are definitely years that Newton gets beat by these local 4A teams, but it is not often and that leaves a sour taste in his mouth. He just wishes that BC, "a baseball school", could actually compete with the good teams in 4A. It has been a while.
  16. You're acting foolish now. Hypothetically, Newton would at least get 3rd in that district because Newton has already beaten WOS and Jasper. However, Newton would most likely get 2nd that district this year.
  17. Bridge City beat Newton several years back. I don't know how, and it may have been one of those "Newton wins 9 out of 10 times", but it happened that night.
  18. Goodness. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. When the local 4A teams in Southeast Texas can consistently beat Newton, then your point may seem a little more valid. However, Newton has completely dominated Silsbee in the past decade and has more wins against WOS in the past decade than any other team (which is 4 wins out of 7 if I'm not mistaken). I'm only stating those two 4A teams because they have been the most consistent and relevant recently. There are several 3A teams that would beat any 4A team in this area nearly year in and year out. You know football and are usually knowledgeable of what is going on, but don't be so salty and get too ahead of yourself now.
  19. Good question. 😂 I am confident in saying the offense they are running is not the one! Maybe they just need some more move-ins from Beaumont. However, I think that if the right offense were in place, then they would have a better fight and would win some games. For instance, an offense ran like Anahauc or how Jack Alverez ran/run's his, then HJ would be a lot better. Neese completely turned Anahauc around with his style of offense and pay calling (ps.. I am not an Anahauc fan, just giving my thoughts). It's not about what offense a coach wants to run, but more about what offense best suits the players to be most successful.
  20. HJ coach should set his pride to the side and get away from their new offense. As much as I hate seeing the bunched-up, 98% run-play type offense, I think it is best for the personnel that is on the field. They would not be getting beat so badly each game and would possibly have a few wins this year. I understand that this is the first year with the coach and offense, but I do not see HJ competing next year either if they keep the same offense with the players that they have.
