  1. So Evadale, Deweyville, Buna and OF remain in the playoffs for Golden Triangle Schools.

I'm very surprised every year that the GT area HS teams fissile out early in the playoffs.

Yes I know we have had teams make it 3 to 4 rounds deep in past years but it has been a while since a GT HS team made a DEEP run.

What keeps the Houston Area teams on top consistently every year?   Talent, Coaching, Off Season programs, etc ??   thoughts ?

  2. Come on everyone.....its HS Varsity Softball. Let the kids play and the score is going to be what its going to be. I have coached Vs Coach Adkins for many years and taken many beat downs from LCM in HS Softball over the years but can honestly tell you she is the last person on the field wanting to run a score up when she doesn't have too.I have watched her many times try to figure out how to end innings without bringing to much light on the subject of getting out on purpose. Rules are a constant change every year and keeping up with all the rules as a HS coach is your job but almost impossible to know them all. Lets also understand that if an umpire chooses he could also penalize the team trying to end innings early if they choose by calling team out for "making a travesty of the game" that could result in team forfeit so understand its not that easy of a thing to do and not get called out by fans, players, coaches and umps.

  3. Well.......

As I suspected and over the last few years my prediction came true..

Houston are seems to have our number when it comes to playoffs no matter what the beginning of year state rankings say

"Teams In the beaumont area seem to make it about 3 rounds

that to me is not a deep run.  good run but not "deep"

the Houston area teams have made deeper runs as of lately

been a while since lcm, bc, png, vidor, ned, of, etc made a deep run"

  7. As stated before....prime example of social media no-no    Rockets fire social media manager after distasteful tweet

Rockets fire social media manager after distasteful tweet

HOUSTON (AP) - The Houston Rockets have fired their social media manager after he posted a tweet with an emoji of a gun pointed at a horse's head as they were beating the Dallas Mavericks.

The Rockets confirmed the dismissal of Chad Shanks on Wednesday. Shanks wrote on his personal Twitter page that he would no longer run the Rockets' Twitter account but was grateful to the organization.

The tweet, posted just before the Rockets finished a 103-94 victory to win the first-round playoff series, read: "Shhhhh. Just close your eyes. It will all be over soon." It was quickly criticized on social media and soon deleted.

The Mavericks responded with a tweet from their official account to the Rockets, reading: "Not very classy but we still wish you guys the best of luck in the next round."
  8. This does crack me up!!!

But...I will say that social media can make or brake a player come college recruiting time or even

getting a job after high school.

Parents and Players should watch what they put on social media and the things they do in the

community that could shed a negative light on the player.

Not saying that any of this stuff on this thread is true...just stating facts.

  9. I cant understand where the mixup was for umps....we waited 1.5 hours for umps and when

one showed up (that wasn't even the scheduled ump - he just showed up to try and help us

out to play) the coaches could not agree to play with one ump even after asking him to come help.

It was no advatage or disadvantage to eather team and with the rain in the forecast and all games

must be played by Saturday I thought it was a bad idea to not play.

After 10+ years of watching HS Softball I am still amazed when things like this happen.
