2. Did Whitmire #11 play tonight for Vidor? He was our starting corner last year and played very little last week. Not sure if he is injured or not.
 3.

Since my name came into it I'll wade back into the pool. My issue is with Nations and classing kids. We have a Select team at best but 1 player was carried on a roster in coach pitch & the team played in the fall but he did not but remained on the roster, this we are now 9 Elite & playing in 10u until we get reclassed. I have had conversations with Ron Mathis, John Carroll & Morgan. Of the 3, Morgan actually called me & understood the predicament, watched us play & agreed we are outclassed where we are playing. I appreciated that gesture & I know he will do what he can to get us in the proper division. My other issue is Nations & the bat rule. Nations let USSSA take all the heat on the 1.15 BPF deal. Nations stated "we don't have that rule written anywhere", however, any complex that hosts Nations events requires the 1.15. Nations intended to adhere to the rule but washed their hands of the dirty work & made the complexes take the heat. Thusly, USSSA made people buy bats, not Nations.
Nothing Morgan can do -- Nations uses percentages to rate teams, not actual performance.  If you are in the 40% (power rankings), you are Elite.  Carroll was offended when I told him that was arbitrary.  Funny thing is, instead of complaining, everyone should just sit back and enjoy.  More effort is being put into the local Nations tournaments now because of some healthy American competition.  While there have been rumors of threats to teams playing USSSA or discounts that only apply if you commit to Nations exclusively, I guess it all benefits the kids and coaches.  And, maybe the local Nations tournaments will have problem solvers on site -- that has been a problem in the past.  The long and short of it that the tournaments are going to better this year and local people will have more options.  More out of town teams are coming in.  That is nice (new people to play).  Now, if someone could stir a fire under the county.  We ought to drag those workers over to Sulphur and watch the SPAR crews work.  How do we get that kind of effort over here?  The outfields are embarrassing.  It seems strange to have such a nice facility, turfed infields, then a goat farm in the outfield.
So true on the outfields....Sulphur has some of the best grass fields we have played on..Wish someone at Ford park would take notes. Is SMG responsible for the fields at Ford Park?
 4. I bet he could get some former players to coach it for free if the board would let him ask.
 5. RiverRats 10U baseball is looking for 2 additional players(Catching experience is needed) for the spring season. We will be having a tryout December 12th @ 6:00 PM @ Ford Park. A second tryout will be December 14th @ 6:00 PM @ Ford Park. Contact David Bowman @ 409- 617-9660 or email @ [email protected] or Scott Kizer @ 409-673-3576 or email [email protected]
 6.
if jeff was smart he would take advangte of this year and move on to bigger and better things, he is amazing as a person and a coach, i would just like to see him coach a team that has true talent, he gets everything out of the kids. This years team was not very talented but played with so much heart if mathews coached somewhere like crosby, or angelton the sky would be the limit
This cpming from the same guy that got banned last year for trashing a high school player and the Vidor program in general....What a moron...3 rounds deep and no talent you say...
 7.

[Hidden Content] Check these pics out....sad...
After seeing the pictures man the cops are big.  The cops should be disciplined and held accountable for their actions.  This is the example of misconduct on the part of the cops. I talked to a local school district police chief.  He said that school district policy states that the only way event officers would get involved in a "on field" fight, before, during or after a game, between uniformed players is if the coach, administrator, superintendent or any other school official ordered the police officers to intervene.  He said that it is the responsibility of the coaches to control or intervene in any incidents involving players. This p**** me off.  Mr. Big cop with his arm in the throat of a 17 year old football player.  I bet the cop went home and bragged to his family what he done.
Really?? Disciplined for breaking up a brawl..I believe that its there job..When you have kids swinging helmets at each other you stop it.You dont wait for a few coaches and admin.people to try and stop 75 to 100 kids from fighting.JMO....If my kids did this pepper spray would be the least of there worries when they got home...On a side note...I have seen more jaw jacking and taunting after plays this year that I can remember in years past...The officials and UIL need to get this in check and these things wont happen..
 8. The P.F penalty was a BS call anyway....Both kids were jawing at each other and it gets called on Vidor? Should have been offsetting if he was going to call it at all. IMO...It had no outcome on the game.Angleton did what they needed to do in the 3rd..
 9. I think coach would tell you that it was a group effort from all his coaches...Every group played well from the O-line to the secondary...He has put together a good staff and I hope we keep them in place.
 10. Great season Pirates!!! To all the Jr and underclassmen...Go to work right now and build off of what this group of Sr has done...This group set the bar and its up to you to push it higher..
 11. Congrats Angleton...Great players at the skill positions. You did to us what we usually do to other teams..Kept our defense on the field and took advantage of our turnovers..Great football  game that was really closer than the score indicated.Angleton won it in the 3rd quarter.Again great job and I hope you win it all.

C'mon man come up with something we have not heard from every team we have beat this year.
 19.

The great thing about our defense is that we get 10 of them back next year....
now that's not even fair. I think Angleton will return about 13 or so starters back next year for both sides of the ball. Which ain't that bad. A good thing Angleton has is. They got quite a few kids with this playoff experience. I mean it doesn't really count for nothing but it's good to have. I know the freshman that were on the '08 and '09 team have a sour taste in their mouth from them close defeats. So they're gonna do their best for that not to happen again.
I think we get 5 back on offense(someone correct me if I am wrong)....Our JV team was pretty good this year and several soph and Jr saw playing time because of injury to our running backs during the regular season..I think the future looks bright for Pirate Football...We got healthy at the right time of the season....Hope to see a good injury free football game.
 20.

I think the closest Defense we have saw that can probably compare to Vidors D. Would have to be El Campo, they have a real well discipline D that plays assignment football. Might not be the greatest athletes but they play hard nose 4 qrt football. That has to probably be the closet similarity. Not saying nothing bad about Vidor at all. Just trying to compare their D to one of Angleton opponents this year.
Got that one right  ;) FUNDAMENTAL but do not mistake "athletes"  cause there are plenty on da team that can hang with the best of em  ;)
Oh yes trust me I meant nothing by saying not the greatest athletes. I know they have athletes. They ought to because they are playing Thanksgiving football. Just used El Campo for example they got a few but the others are the kids they love the game of football which makes their play even better
The great thing about our defense is that we get 10 of them back next year....
 21.
Keep chugging along with what you know best and you'll find yourself 2 games from state, Pirates.  This team have answered all of my questions this year.  They've overcome tragety, speed, the 'bad coaching' stigma, discipline, turnover problems, and now they've overcome the 'big game' stigma.  You're battle tested and just like i've said, the pressure is on Angleton.  I think they may be a little nervous as to how this 'slow little' team have made it this far in the playoffs.
You hit the nail on the head....Nobody predicted us to be here except the players themselves..All the pressure is on Angleton IMO. They are suppose to beat us according to the so called experts. Our kids seem to be treating these games as just any other game and are playing relaxed, mistake free football.. P.S. I have 2 kids in the neighborhood 1 offensive and 1 defensive starter that told me they were gonna make a playoff run this year before the season started..I am gladly eating my crow.lol
 22.
The winner's high for Vidor will wear off as the week goes on and realism will set in.  Angleton 52 Vidor 21
Thanks for the support their Bulldog..
 23.
Angleton's Competition this year is no where what it has been for the past 4  or 5 years.  They have played three good teams.  El Campo, Terry, and Dayton.  All three nearly beat them.  The rest of their opponents were terrible. However, Vidor couldnt catch Angleton in a phone booth.  Angleton Wins big.
Angleton may win but,I wouldn't bet the house on it..We have been the underdogs from the start of these playoffs and have handled our bussiness..One thing I do know is we match up very well with anyone speed wise.I hope the wildcat players share your views and they maybe sitting at home come round 4.
 24.
We debriefed after the game yesterday, and everyone of our kids, said that the Vidors boys were very cool and respectful, throughout the game, had nothing but respect for them. There are a lot of teams that don't show that after a game, more than we'd really like to see. That shows just how great those kids really are. Because in an era of an outbreak of total disrespect for your nation, your family and your fellow man. Those kids were able to stand above all of that. Vidor Pirates you boys are a class act. My boys came home hating the loss, but knew they had been beaten by the better team that Friday night. To quote "Dad they came to play, they played hard, but they weren't cheap about it. They confused us at first with that wheel route, and when we finally adjusted, they came right at us with their bread and butter and challenged us to stop it. By the time we got to firing on all cylinders, we ran out of time. As bad as it hurt, I felt good knowing I lost to a good team, that had as much respect for us as we had for them, it left me feeling kinda good, even though I felt bad." After hearing that from my boys, I had a sense of pride in our system, and a sense of pride their are more out their like them. Because there is one thing we push in my household, and that's respect, without that, we have nothing. And the Montgomery program pushes that as well. If you noticed if one of our boys was called for a personal foul, involving unsportsman like conduct, he is immediately bench for that series. It a penalty that we just don't stand for. Coach Bolfing even benched his son, the starting QB last year in the playoffs for a series, because Tyler made a bone headed move and drew a flag for it. It's just not acceptable play in our book. Once again Good Luck Vidor, we're definately a fan.....
Very good post Mark...Our passing early caught your defense by surprise for sure..I was truly worried about this game because the Bear defense is a little undersized but very quick..These types have given us trouble before...They are quick and agile making it difficult to cut block which is what we like to do..Your recievers were the best group I have seen us play.
 25. Why do I get the feeling that we will see this every week until all of 20-4a and Dayton gets beat out of the playoff :o Can't wait to see the smokin ones reply
