A young man died tonight after taking a shot to the head while playing in a game in Alto. Prayers up to his family and everyone in Alto. Such a tough thing to go through.
Was this a baseball game?

Not interests. Just interesting to say that by taking the shot or wearing the mask is an implication that the spread will slow down at all. When in reality, there have been more people that have taken the shot and/or caught the virus with or without it since this whole debacle started...after the "shots" were available than before. Considering that, nothing has done anything to deter any of it. I could post some articles or videos proving such by reputable, medical doctors but if it goes against your personal beliefs then they will discredited as "quacks" or "idiots" or "conspiracy theorists" anyway..so why bother. But.. at some point.. I would think that every person on the planet would begin to question whatever information they're listening to. As we're two years into this and after 3 different vaccines, one booster, two boosters, three boosters, etc.. maybe just admit that maybe they really don't have a clue and/or are just telling people a load of crap. Just my take.
Personally, I truly don't give a crap what anyone does. It's still a free country. I just know that I'm not going to be lectured about anything health related by entities that are exclusively money driven.
Let us live.

Hawks are always tough at home. Will be a good test for the Lions - HJ by 14

Heard the Broaddus/Spurger game was postponed, not sure why. COVID related I'd imagine, who knows.

Where's my SA peeps?

This district will most definitely come down to the wire, wouldn't be surprised to see a 3-way tie between Buna, Kountze, EC.

I think he wasn’t necessarily saying this years team will be great, but stating that possible next year or year after they will be “great”
No I understood that to be what he meant, just a differing of opinions in the end.

sounds like someone isn't a fan of kountze being great again. only time will tell
Unless we have different definitions of the word "great". If you're referring this years team to the Lions of the early 2000s and even more recent in '15 with Arnold when they made the final four, those were "great" teams. This years team will be solid and with time will be pretty good, just not great.

A lot of talented teams around our area. Some are starting to play better and some are declining IMO. Here are my top tier by class to make noise when it matters, which is the playoffs.
1A is really down
2A Evadale (Tougher schedule than Silsbee considering they're a 2A) & West Hardin
3A East Chambers under Coach Sutherland will always get better
4A this is interesting. Silsbee is Top of the Crop, HJ a close second and HF is definitely in the mix. Huffman and LCM may get by the first round.
5A BU, BU and BU. Nederland is well coached as always but not on their level. I did like Lufkin and La Porte at the HJ Tournament.
6A Westbrook is getting better every week. They will give people head aches.
Not the best choices for our "top tier" area 2A teams. If Douglass is considered SETX then they should be the main consideration for "noise" in the playoffs. BS and Grapeland as well

They are also very young i heard. that is very scary for region 3 that Kountze may be back to where they use to be
They're solid and will only get better with time since they're young, but make no mistake this isn't the beginning of a reincarnation of those old Kountze teams. They'll be good, but not great.

Working on getting tournament info for this week. Have 28 tournaments this week that involve our coverage area teams.
I will put up a thread for folks to post tournament info.
Busy week for you I imagine! I'll keep my eye out for the thread, thanks!

Anyone have a bracket for this? Trying to plan ahead and see if I can make some games.

I wonder who had the bright idea to use Seattle Seahawk colors for the team names and times. Can barely make out the lime green games.

Big Sandy had 1 starter out, Lumberton was missing 4 starters
Oh wow, BS must've not showed up, they always play well at home.

Surprises me that Lumberton split with Big Sandy since they are missing so many kids due to football and Big Sandy should have most, if not all, of theirs since they don't play football. What is going on with Big Sandy?
Not sure, heard however that BS was missing some as well. I wasn't there, this is secondhand information.

Lumberton, Big Sandy and Mumford played saturday. They played each other a half, then a quarter each. Mumford looked good, won all their matchups. BS and Lumberton split I think, both teams were missing players according to parents at the games.
