My State Semifinal Winners (coverage area & other)
QB1 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I went back and rewatched the game with Fairfield. That game was closer than you predicted because of the foul count! The foul count at the half was 16 OF to 5 for FF. Total it was 24 OF to 14 for FF and their last 4 fouls were intentional to stop the clock. It was pathetic officiating that kept Fairfield in that game! I did just watch the London/Goliad game too. I think Mexia and Fairfield could beat both of those teams. -
Never seen a more one sided officiated game in my life!!! This is atrocious!!! If OF breathes on the it’s a foul!!! Pathetic!

But does Fairfield have speed and can they run the floor wide open for four quarters? I think that will be the deciding factor. Should be a good game, looking forward to it. -
I hear ya... but you have to be good to make it to the 4th round regardless. We just need to play our game and make them adjust to ours and not the other way around. Looking forward to it.
-
Good thing we have a 6'5" guy down low to bang with him! Going to be a good one. Crazy how low scoring that game was. We will run the floor for 4 quarters.
-
I promise you 30 of Mexia's points came from the line. They foul count was ridiculous. They took advantage of it for sure. We couldn't buy a foul. Great game for sure.

They had size for sure, but they were not a complete team. -

As far as the attitude and character of Orangefield's team, yes they had some immature moments for sure. If you have watched them lately or been around the team at all you would see that Whitmire has done a pretty good job of getting those situations in check. The boys understand what they've done wrong and how it affects the team and have done a good job of improving their behavior and correcting their mistakes. This team, on paper and on the court, have proven that they can play ball. They get better, as a cohesive unit, every week and are really playing great team ball right now. Go look at the stats and check out the assist column for sure. Jaden Scales is arguably the best player in this area and the best player Orangefield has had in a very long time. His vision, shooting ability, and comprehension of the game is unmatched. He's a great leader and teammate. Yes, they average 79pts per district game, and maybe that does come from playing in a weaker district, but the fact they hold their opponents to under 42 points a game great. Their defense is smothering. Their conditioning is unmatched. They are sprinting the floor in the fourth quarter while the other team is walking. Another great quality is the depth. They can sub in 4 at a time keep on clicking if they wanted to. Am I biased, sure. But the facts are what they are. They are fun to watch and they are great group of kids. If you haven't had a chance to watch them play, I highly encourage you to come out and do so. They have Hardin tomorrow night and Kountze on Tuesday to finish up district. Both are at home. You won't be sorry. -

It was a good win for us. EC is tough, as usual. Their Wallace kid is legit. He DOES NOT miss when he shoots. Honestly, we should have won by 30+. Worst free throw shooting game for us. Left at least 10pts at the stripe and missed a ton of easy putbacks. All in all it was a great win and a good game between 2 good teams. -

Really excited for Orangefield's team this year. We beat EC by 20 last Friday and should have beat them by 30. We missed a ton of free throws and easy putbacks. Really proud of the way we have gelled as a team, really starting to find our rhythm. Finishing up the first pass through district next Friday against Kountze. Anxious to see if we can keep the momentum going through the second half and into the playoffs. Sky really is the limit for this group. -
No doubt Orangefield dominated that game last night, but Woodville is a night and day team from last year. We probably had over 10 sacks last night. The OLine for Woodville had no answer! Orangefield was in control from the opening kickoff. Great way to open the season.
-
Agreed! Our OL has continued to improve every week. It shows with the protection for Gonzales, and the holes they are opening up for Manning. Our defense is SOLID, and should keep us in great field position all game.

Just wanted someone that is willing to stick around longer than 2 years. Guy is a legit coach but moves around after 2 years a lot. Yea his son is going to Lamar but Lord knows he could transfer after 30 mins.
-
Jenkins is a good coach but has been in 3 places in 6 years. Need someone that wants to stick around, not just pull chocks whenever he feels like it.
-
Tell us how you really feel...

The kids that are in 8th, 9th, and 10th grade grew up throwing the ball, A LOT! We have QB development for several that go to private lessons and play 7 on 7. Of course the Slot T was sprinkled in there just to get them used to it, but they didn't start primarily running that until the 8th Grade. Even in 7th grade ball they threw it a lot. The pieces are there and not just for the next two or three years. They just need to be implemented or at least given an opportunity.
-
Orangefield has both, just aren't utilized currently
-
Enough
-
Keep watching, because the next 3 years they will have one. Just need to let him throw it.

Not committed, just offered.

Gales is legit. I hate that for him and the team. -
Does Liberty have anyone that can run with Miller?! Keep feeding him!
