I am sure your negative comments are directed at adults, but I guarantee you that even at 10 years old these kids can have a competitive fire, passion, and love for the game that will astound you!  You must not have kids. Kids of the same age are at different skill levels, athletic ability, and pure knowledge of baseball. Which is why they have different levels of competition so kids of the same age can compete. It's good to have close games so the kids can learn and have fun vs winning or losing by a bunch all the time. 
The lowest to highest level of competition in Nations is the Select division, Elite, then Premier. The kids I know are working their tails off to get to the next level of competition.

If the top 4 made a true all star team then they would slaughter the competition anywhere in the state for this age group! Seriously!!!!!

I hate that you are in this situation and I stand behind you unlike some! I respect you and your team just like everyone else and just to let you know that I still believe in you and I know the talent you have as coaches and as players! Turn it around and Go get em!

Marie - I can tell you the reason. WOS is in the small school division. It doesn't matter to the Lumberton STJFL president if they are 5-0 or 0-5 / in first place or last place. It has no bearing on his child's team (Lumberton W sr. )and the playoffs. And he's not mad at WOS for smack talking on a forum. He and other board members that post on here are unable to remain objective when it comes to BMT. One certain board member has a picture of himself on Facebook (for the world to see) holding a go pro camera so he can nip adult unsportsmanlike conduct in the bud. Maybe he filmed the bmt game? The comments under the photo and dates posted are kind of interesting as well. Facebook is a wonderful thing....

In the coaches code of conduct it states that if a violation occurs the board shall decide punishment. Punishments include - verbal warning, probation, suspension, and a ban. I will be happy to post this document if anyone is interested. The Nederland coach was verbally warned and then suspended. I really have no idea why the STJFL did this other than a BMT team was the one Ned beat 65-0 and BMT is always accused of running up the score. I would guess it was for appearance sake.

The coaches code of conduct nor the bylaws address the forfeiture of games. They do however address discriminating against players based on their ability.

For those that think this isn't personal consider this : before the game was over the STJFL president (who's kid is on Sr lumberton W) was on the phone at halftime with our league president complaining!

It's all really nice and neat for it to be handled this way. Funny how the "ethics" committee met twice without including the BMT board member. And she was a member of this committee. The STJFL president recused himself from the vote as did the bmt president. But it really doesn't matter because it was already decided before during the two meetings that were held prior to the board meeting.

All this goes back to peewee football and a personal grudge. No one should think otherwise.

You are kidding yourselves if you think this isn't personal. Another thing to consider when evaluating BMT's guilt or innocence. There is an email floating around from last year in which the STJFL president says if you think this isn't personal for him then you are wrong.

Icewater/tea - it's hard to just let it go when there are things like the above going on. Just like you are teaching your players, we are teaching ours. Teaching them that right is right and wrong is wrong. And to stand up for themselves and more importantly others. This is just a game but somehow it's representative of so much more than that.

Why is the assumption that BMT is guilty? There is no evidence - just supposition. I challenge one of the board members to post the video! The video that was used to suspend a coach!! I also would be interested to know who took the video? Is it clips or a complete game from start to finish? Just post it - After all the truth will set you free.

my child knows what's going on and is wondering why he is sitting 3rd in the playoffs and he beat the Lumberton blue and they are sitting 2nd. And I can't even explain to him why because the STJFL board haven't given us a reason.. What THE BOARD don't understand is they are only hurting the children in this. Our team don't have their Head coach whose been coaching them since August and they get TWO games taken away from them just because the board wants their team to get in the playoffs!! CRAZINESS

Thanks Anklebiter, I appreciate that compliment. I refuse to argue on here because if I have to prove myself on here as a coach then I am obviously missing the mark! I enjoy what I do and I have no kids playing for my son is in junior high I just love to help kids!!!

Well Marie, I'm not going to argue with you about what's respectful in your eyes or mine! I firmly believe that we did the right thing and would never second guess my coaching decision or my head coaches decision from this weekend! The opposing team asked if we were ok with running the clock which made the game time fly! We subbed out kids left and right the entire game and yes I pulled my starters on defense because we always do! I love kids and would never want to disrespect a team or player but it's only our fault for teaching the kids to play good defense! I will never tell my kids to let someone score! What is that teaching them? What is that showing our opponent? If you ask 100 coaches and 100 kids if they were losing would they be happy or proud if the opposing team "just let them score" I am sure the answer 200 times would be NO! To me that is more embarrassing then running the score up! I have been in this league for a long time and my real name is Coach Dubby, I have nothing to hide on here! Our coaches love kids and we do what's right in our hearts! No one has a complaint against us nor we against anyone else! I respect your question and I hope you understand my response! We coach to improve and prepare for Friday night ball not just a good story at work!

Have white coaches been suspended for a year for their first offense? Just 2 weeks before all the BMT fiasco a Nederland coach was only suspended for two games for breaking a rule. Well breaking a spirit of a rule. Lol AND the BMT coaches still do not know why they were suspended the first time since they couldn't see the video or be at the board meeting.

Why exactly is the Mercy Rule in place?  Whatever happened to just playing the game and teaching boys (or girls if they play the game which some do) that sometimes a huge loss is just that -- a loss.  Character is built when you teach kids how to lose gracefully.  Your idea that this league is about you as a coach, dad, mom or league President, or Board member is flawed.  No one cares what you do, don't do or how you perform.  The ultimate question is whether your child is improving, having fun and becoming a better man/woman because he can handle the losses with the wins.  If you as a coach, dad, mom, league President or Board member harps on these alleged atrocities so much so you seek to "punish" others . . . you are only teaching your kids to be complete failures, complainers and ultimate losers in life.  Your kids will be the ones with their hands out begging for favors b/c they are inadequate in every respect.  
 
I would imagine this rule was put in place based on a gentlemen's agreement or understanding that no coach would intentionally run up the score.  I have read the by-laws and "definition" of the "Mercy Rule" and no where does it allow for this board to meet out a punishment of any sort, let alone to tell a man he is put on a lifetime probation.  No where does it outline what any alleged punishment would be either -- it was left undefined b/c no one ever expected this type of result.    If you want to continue with these decisions, please know that the rules are so vague and lacking in definition that they do not call for the use of "evidence" (such as videos), let alone using video and then not letting the accused party to view it in his or her defense.  If you want to start holding "ethical" boards and meeting punishment, you better have some protocol and particularly defined violations in writing in addition to what is required to constitute a legitimate vote to punish a coach and/or vote off a Board member.    
 
This board needs to be a little more pensive in how they act in the future.  They are skirting on the brinks of a discrimination lawsuit.  One in race given the 2 coaches they put on probation are African American (a repeated pattern I regret) and now sexual.  This I am afraid is coming from a white mother who is tired of listening to all this bantering of pathetic men.  You seriously kicked off of the one women who is on this Board?  I have no idea what she did to warrant such action but, again, where do your by-laws allow for such action?  You guys are fooling yourselves if you think your "punishments" have any real consequence other then defaming and libeling certain individuals.  These people have no legal impetus to follow your punishment other than they are trying to be respectful to the league and the kids -- which this is all about and kudos to them for not fighting back.  Be careful what you say to disparage other individuals on this forum and elsewhere.  The internet has a strange way of coming back to bite you in the --- (anonymous or not).  Things that are said on these forums can be used in discovery and in litigation.  
 
Stand up and be real men and teach your boys to be proud losers or winners, no matter how the chips may fall and no matter how bad you think you have been cheated (truth or not).  You aren't teaching your kids squat if you helicopter and try to outdo their "failures" all the time.  Life lessons people -- get real.
 
 

Don't know the circumstance here, but I agree with everything you have stated in your post. If we can't look failure in the eye and accept it, we will never succeed as a person.

So to see what all the hype was about, I went and watched the BMT Sr and Lum Blue game. From the start it seemed that BMT was kinda going through the motions. The last play of the 1st half saw BMT run the ball on what looked like a off tackle play towards Lumberton side and then cut back towards the BMT side and scored a TD with time running out. I believe the score was 21-0 and on the opening kick off BMT kicked it on side and recovered from what I can remember. After that it was pretty much BMT could do whatever they wanted and they did. While watching the game I was trying to figure out what the BMT coaches are doing to make themselves the center of attention. I never saw them scream at a kid , when a kid missed a assignement they corrected him, and when a kid did hid job they gave him high fives. What I did see was missed tackles by lumberton, poor blocking, and poor kick off return. The Lumberton team stayed in and battled against the 2nd/3rd team of BMT and did score twice, I guess they considered that a small victory in itself. I did see a cop at this game for some reason ( i guess the STJFL figured the Lumerton fans needed protection), I also saw at least 10 different people recording this game,plus at halftime a lady from Lumberton left the lumberton side and came to the BMT side to record the second half of the game. The only problem was she had it on the coaches and BMT bench then entire 2nd half. So I can see why these BMT coaches are upset, they are doing what every other dad is out there doing and for some reason because they have a special group of kids someone wants them gone. I will ask this 1 question why is there a mercy rule at the SR level? The reason I ask is most of these  kids will hit Jr High next year were there is no mercy rule nor a daddy coaching them.So why not get them ready for that next level of football.

I have not commented on anything on this board this year. It is pathetic. This board is nothing but personal attack after attack.
Stop trying to sugar coat it like it's fun and games cause its not. It's obvious who is wanted in the league and who is not. Man this is youth football not NFL who is really going to the commissioner talking bout a violation when u loose by 40? Give me a break. And the whisperer is always acting as if he is so innocent but is the main one with sly personal attacks. This is not for grown folks it's for the kids. A lot of yall should stop commenting on here. Find some other entertainment.

Im not trying to stir the pot i would like answers?  I give money to this league for my boys to play, it seems all of this stuff happens behind closed door. I support youth sports no matter what town your from, its all about development.

Come on Lumberton!!!  This is youth football.  Really!!!!!
