Bridge City (0) @ Silsbee (70) - FINAL

I’m not close to the program at all any more, but it sounds really bad down there. Somebody has to be dead last, but it doesn’t have to be us. -

As the great Herschel Walker repeatedly said, “I’m in no way, shape, or form involved with this abortion.” -
Go Band!

Dang! We agreed and were both right! You should fight your instincts and agree with me on everything.

Still pretending to be straight, huh? Jk, lol....

I'm guessing it was kinda like when Spiccoli crashed Charles Jefferson's Z28. I'm looking hard at LiCk'eM.

You're not wrong.... but they COULD opt up and face the same level of competition that the rest of the bigger schools face. I'm not going to pretend that a 4AD2 title means the same thing as a 6A championship. I've always said that there's no upside for a big school to play Newton. It's like picking a fight at a gay bar. If you win you can't brag about it, but you'd better not lose.

Oh, I'm worried that when they decide to stick with a guy, it won't be a good one.
-
No… they ran the t in 15-17. The coach after that for 18-20 had some other scheme and the new guy has run a spread in 21-22. i think we’re best suited for a slot t type offense and I would have like to see a little more passing game out of the formation that we had previously. We’ve just never had the personnel to run a spread and I don’t see that changing.

In nine months we'll have a Tardinal.

"I'm sorry, I'll be at the Nugget that night."

There's a big difference between killing grass in the shape of a weiner on the field (good harmless fun) and this.

Better yet, why not have athletes provide proof of insurance before allowing them to play? Why should the public have to pay for you to participate?

Yeah… you can’t can’t have kids drawing straws to determine who’s going to be qb…and the loser has to go under center. i just don’t think we’ll ever be successful if we start a qb’s development when he shows up for two a days. -

Somebody can correct me, but he wasn’t even a coordinator, much less a head coach. I think that the real problem is that he had to hire two new coordinators who brought in their own schemes on both sides of the ball and it hasn’t been successful. They’re the winningest (by percentage) team in TXHSFB and they only got 13 applicants for the job… because the fix was in, and at this point it looks like it backfired. Repeat… it’s not the coach’s fault. He’s just doing his best to do the job he was hired to do. -

On a plus note, WOS will forever more be used an exhibit in every debate from now on about which is more important… athletes or coaches. You might not be able to win the Kentucky derby with a mule, but about a dozen million dollar race horses lose the derby every year. -

There has been a vocal group for several years wanting to hire a person of color for the spot. It never really gained any traction until last year when a kid got kicked off of the team and the vocal group got a lot of outside help via the petition and a lot of social media attention. The super had already had his pick made clear before the job was posted, and the rest is History. It’s not a knock on the new coach or in any way based on his race. It just seemed like the super harnessed the race issue to hire a friend who just doesn’t seem to be in the same league as what was has had in the past. But that’s just an outsider’s perspective. -

Not at all. I’ve said it over and over… there is an army of kids in purple jerseys and their dads all dreaming about being qb1 at png. The kids/dads in BC all want to be the ace on the baseball team. No qbs are developed, so how are going to run the spread. In ‘14 our qb went down against LCM and we literally had the mlb under center. Spread offense without any form of a passing attack. There are only so many ways to disguise a draw play. i think we should be running a slot t with a little bit more of a passing attack like pleasant grove used to get on WOS a few years back. But what do I know? -

Not exactly… his oldest qb’d in ‘15 and we got Carthage in the first round. We had a local kid under center in ‘16 when we went three rounds. He’d played lb the year before. That fb was a horse, though, and he just-so-happened to move to bc from HJ the same year that the coach came over, lol. Don’t get me wrong… we’re not gonna compete for DCs year in and year out. But we’re the biggest school in the district and we’re gonna wind up winless, or so it seems. -

In all fairness, he couldn’t coach forever. Those signatures just gave the admins the power to make a really questionable selection. It hasn’t worked out so well so far. -

Sometimes it’s hard to believe that 6 years ago we went undefeated in District beating LCM, Silsbee, Huffman, Navasota, etc... I’d like to give a big shout out to the superintendent(s), board of trustees, and coaches who have brought about these remarkable changes. Losing ain’t so bad when you’ve got turf, I guess. -
